No sooner had the news broken of Keith Ellison deciding to leave Congress, then a list of replacements were being touted. At the very top of the list is Minnesota State Representative Ilhan Omar. Believe it or not, she’s far worse than Ellison could ever hope to be.
I’ve followed the story about her through Scott Johnson at Powerline blog. In August 2016, Ilhan, a Somali-American, handily beat a 22-term incumbent and immediately became a political and media darling.
However, as Scott points out on multiple occasions, there are key aspects of her life and credentials that have been swept under the rug. Below is a sampling of Ilhan’s problematic credentials.’
As many candidates do, Omar has made her personal background an integral part of her campaign. But neither the candidate nor the reporters who covered her have shown much interest in exploring one aspect of her personal story that recently came to public attention: the fact that she is not legally married to the man she advertises as the husband and the father of her three children. In fact, she is legally married to another man—who may be her brother.

I originally checked out the SomaliSpot story online through the Minnesota Official Marriage System. Inputting Omar’s name, I found that the two marriages cited in the discussion board post checked out as indicated. The site reflected Omar’s 2002 marriage to her advertised husband, Ahmed Aden (later Ahmed Hirsi), and her 2009 marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi (identified in the SomaliSpot post as Omar’s brother).
When Scott inquired further about her marriage status, legal or otherwise, the following missive from a Minneapolis criminal defense attorney showed up.
Dear Mr. Johnson:
I have been contacted by the Ilhan Omar campaign. Their response to your email from this morning is as follows:
“There are people who do not want an East African, Muslim woman elected to office and who will follow Donald Trump’s playbook to prevent it. Ilhan Omar’s campaign sees your superfluous contentions as one more in a series of attempts to discredit her candidacy.
Ilhan Omar’s campaign will not be distracted by negative forces and will continue to focus its energy on creating positive engagement with community members to make the district and state more prosperous and equitable for everyone.”
If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please direct them to me in writing so we have a record of any further communications.
Sincerely,
Jean Brandl
Well…alrighty then! Needless to say, the reaction to answering a simple question regarding ones marital status sent red flags flying. Yet, not enough red flags flew to keep her from being elected. In fact, while many thought she should and must give an interview to the press, she never did. Instead she issued a short statement, linked here, and that was that.
After her election she’s been fawned over by Rachel Maddow, had a puff piece run in People Magazine, and touted as influential during Women’s History Month in 2017.
Now, this darling of the Democrat left and media is being touted as THE ONE to take over Keith Ellison’s seat. This even though Ilhan has yet to answer the questions regarding the double marriage thing.
Now there is this tweet.
Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel. #Gaza #Palestine #Israel

The next Representative from #MN05? And you thought @keithellison was bad. https://t.co/wf3kXmDfa0

Her response a few days ago doesn’t help,
Drawing attention to the apartheid Israeli regime is far from hating Jews. You are a hateful sad man, I pray to Allah you get the help you need and find happiness. https://t.co/SvEXjlxlEN

Believe me, Keith Ellison was bad and he’ll be even worse as Attorney General for the state. But this from Ilhan is worse. I doubt that her anti-Semitic mindset has changed between 2012 and now. She’s just hiding it under the guise of political tap dancing and virtue signaling.
“My election win offers a counter-narrative to the bigotry in the world,” Minnesota State Representative-elect Omar, 34, says in the new issue of PEOPLE.
Is it enough to FINALLY raise the red flags needed to ensure she won’t get elected to Congress? I don’t think so given this endorsement.
It is truly an honor to receive Governor Mark Dayton’s endorsement!

Ilham Omar makes her anti-Semitism clear with that tweet.
Unfortunately, for the state of Minnesota and Congress; it seems the Democrat Party thinks anti-Semitism is no longer a problem. It’s the only way to explain how Ilhan Omar is now the front-runner for Keith Ellison’s Congressional seat.
Antisemitism has NEVER been a problem for the deomcrap party… Roosevelt denied entry to Jews fleeing the Holocaust, this is NOT a new thing… But yes, this “woman” may well be a new low for them, but after all, it’s all about virtue signalling for them, african muslim woman checks a lot of boxes for them… and honest, patriotic, upholding the Constitution, and stuff like that is so last week….
