“I think my positions are going to be what the people in this room come up with. If they come to me with things I’m not in love with, I’m going to do it. Because I respect them.”

That was what the President told legislators and America today at an open conversation about immigration reform.

I’m not sure what happened.

What happened to the tough talking Trump who promised us a wall to prevent gangsters, drug dealers, and possible terrorists from crossing the Mexican border into the United States?

What happened to having Mexico pay for this physical barrier?

What happened to his promise to remove 11 million illegal aliens from America?

“We have to do DACA first.” That’s what he said.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

DACA – Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals – allowed some individuals who entered the United States as minors, and remained in the country illegally, to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and to be eligible for a work permit.

What happened to the tough as nails Trump who has promised to fight on his own terms? Who is this pathetic, finger-in-the-air-to-see-where-the-wind-blows politician, who is willing to defer to Congress on one of his fundamental campaign promises?

How does this Trump jibe with the firebrand who promised Americans a change in how we deal with illegal aliens?

And no, they are not undocumented workers, dreamers, or any other innocuous name liberals may pull out of their fourth point of contact. They are here illegally. They are illegal aliens. Period.

Ann Coulter – one of Trump’s earliest and most powerful supporters – is pissed and I can’t say I blame her.

I think it was the worst day in his presidency so far and particularly with this Michael Wolff book out, I mean, it confirms all of the worst things White House staff told Michael Wolff about Trump. That it’s all about him, he cares about his press, he’s trying to distract from the book, and weirdly ends up confirming it, he seems to have no grasps of the details, he agrees with whatever the last person who speaks has said… I mean when he agreed with DiFi on a standalone Dreamer bill, and you know, the hardcore tough on immigration guy in the room has to be Kevin McCarthy, who use to be ‘open borders’ Kevin McCarthy, to point out to the President that no what DiFi just said was that she wants just a Dreamer bill and nothing else and no border security… He shouldn’t talk about immigration unless Stephen Miller is there to follow up on everything he says. But I mean if this goes through, sorry for you and your kids, you have a job talking about politics it will be irrelevant and the nation your children will live in is one I am glad I will not be around to see.

Seriously. How bad is the situation when Kevin McCarthy is the voice of reason on immigration reform? This is the same Kevin McCarthy who was willing to talk amnesty… oh, sorry… path to legalization for illegal aliens in 2014, and now he’s the one reminding Trump that a standalone DACA bill is a bad idea?

I guess the President had forgotten what happened when Ronald Reagan was hoodwinked by the left into granting amnesty to 2.7 million illegal aliens with a promise to increase border security later?

Oh, that’s right. The increased border security wasn’t, and we now have more than 11 million illegal aliens in this country.

No, thanks. The Democrats are not to be trusted on this issue… or any other for that matter.

While I feel for the folks who were brought here illegally as kids, fact is their parents committed an illegal act by bringing them here, and why should they benefit from said act?

And while I’m willing to make an exception for those illegals who voluntarily choose to serve in our military (because if you’re willing to put your life on the line for the country you love, and you meet the qualifications for enlistment, you should follow that path to citizenship), just being brought here does not an entitlement make.

Trump, apparently, is willing to swing with whatever demand Feinstein – or any other legisleech – pulls out of thin air. This after reneging on the promise that Mexico will pay for a border wall. And then, he claimed he wouldn’t accept any DACA or DREAMer deal unless it included the “security of a wall.”

That’s not what I heard in that video, and I won’t lie, I’m disappointed – much like Ann Coulter.

Build the wall and secure the borders first and foremost. Make our immigration policy at least as tough as Mexico’s which allows hundreds of thousands of migrants to enter the United States through its porous borders, bitches about our desire to control the dregs that enter our country, but deports more illegals than the United States does and makes it a felony to be an illegal alien there.

Without that, no deal.
