In a move displaying what true, decisive leadership ought to look like—are you paying attention, Barack Obama?—Governor Rick Perry has announced he’s deploying up to 1,000 of Texas’ National Guard troops to help secure portions of our southern border. It’s about time.

In a news conference Monday afternoon, surrounded by cabinet members and Texas Adjutant General John Nichols, Governor Perry was all business. No inappropriate giggling, no running from bad news seen on his television, just doing for our nation what the “inept” Barack Obama will not.

“‘I will not stand idly by while our citizens are under assault and little children from Central America are detained in squalor. We are too good of a country,’ Perry said.

‘The additional resources are not aimed at the children themselves, Perry said, describing them instead as a ‘force multiplier’ to help the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) ‘combat the brutal Mexican drug cartels that are preying upon our communities.’

The troops could detain people if asked, Texas Adjutant General John Nichols said at the press conference with Perry, but they are planning to play a ‘referring and deterring’ role by deterring cartels with their visible presence and referring any immigrants suspected of being in the country illegally to DPS.

Perry argued that the elevated response at the border by DPS personnel has already acted as a deterrent force and reduced apprehensions. That operation comes at a cost of $1.3 million per week. A state memo obtained by the McAllen Monitor, which first reported Perry’s plan to deploy the National Guard, indicated the new efforts will cost the state of Texas $12 million per month.”

Love him or hate him, he’s taking the necessary steps to protect Americans. Here’s the entire press conference:

Meanwhile, over at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, it was politics as usual. Josh Earnest, doing his best Jay Carney impression, was right on cue with his finger-wagging admonition toward an actual display of leadership:

“‘What we’re hopeful is that Governor Perry will not just take these kinds of steps that are generating the kind of headlines I suspect he intended, but will actually take the kinds of steps that will be constructive to solving the problem over the long term,’ Earnest told reporters. ‘To be specific that means that we hope that Governor Perry will support the supplemental appropriations request that this administration put forward a few weeks ago and that that Governor Perry will use his influence with congressional Republicans in Congress an urge them to stop blocking comprehensive bipartisan legislation in the House of Representatives.’

He added that National Guard troops would be best deployed in coordination with a broader request for $3.7 billion in emergency appropriations the administration has requested to deal with the crisis.”

Yeah, Mr. Earnest, you should have no problem recognizing intended headlines…

Don’t get too cozy with that daydream, though, Josh, because Governor Perry is well aware that less than five percent of that mindboggling taxpayer-funded 3.7 billion dollar number will go toward actually securing our sieve of a border, but rather to assist the Obama regime in expediting the invasion of our nation.

And how are the amnesty-pushing Luis Gutiérrez and his La Raza ilk responding to the fact that most of America wants these invaders deported and legal immigration decreased? With the typical accusations of “racism” against his “people.” That’s right. His people. His allegiance does not lie with Americans, who expect our laws to be honored, but with the tens of thousands of illegals invading our nation, many of whom are not children. And he desires vengeance against those of us who demand our laws be respected:

“Gutierrez addressed the conference this weekend and also spoke on a panel. He said Obama assured him in a White House meeting last week with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus that he would use executive actions to be a ‘generous and broad’ as he can to ‘stop the deportation of people each and every day,’ as Breitbart News reported.

‘We need to raise our voices, make ourselves citizens, sign up to vote and punish those who speak ill and criminalize children who come to our border,’ Gutierrez reportedly said in Spanish this weekend.”

Sounds eerily familiar to the un-American speech Barack Obama himself gave prior to his reelection, when he urged his base to wage “revenge” with their votes upon the millions of Americans who opposed his agenda. It is patently clear whose side far too many of our alleged reps and the entirety of the Obama administration are on. And it’s not that of American citizens. Thank the Lord for real leadership. And all the brave and selfless Americans standing up to tyranny.

    Perry to POTUS:

    Regarding that “secure” Southern border…???

    You didn’t build that!

      haha! Indeed!

I’ve taken to confronting every person who’s opined that “we” should (usually interpreted to mean “someone else [of my choosing, but NOT ME!] must be forced to”) do something with the following challenge, “So, how many of these po’ chillin’ ‘n’ yoots are you personally going to house and/or take care of?”

The response usually resembles Jackie Gleason’s old Ralph Cramden classic Honeymooners stammering — hummanah hummanah hummanah….

Funny, I’ve had that same discussion with said “bleeding hearts.” The conversation typically ends with the word “racist!” being lobbed my way, and no offer to house the children they claim to care so much for. Just that “someone (not me!) should.”

          Put up, or shut up.
