Cuomo’s nursing home shenanigans continue. How many citizens of New York State know that there are nineteen NEW nursing homes across the state?

“The Cuomo administration has quietly set up 19 “COVID-only” nursing homes throughout the state to treat patients recovering from the killer bug who are discharged from hospitals.

State Health Commissioner Howard Zucker revealed the establishment of the coronavirus-only nursing homes in a 16-page letter sent to the state Legislature Wednesday, which was his response to a series of questions submitted by lawmakers who chair committees overseeing nursing homes.”

That admission, is pretty jaw-dropping. See for yourself. 

“In addition, starting in November the Department launched an effort to establish COVID only nursing homes consistent with Executive Order 202.81. The homes were established to allow the transfer of MEDICALLY STABLE but persistently positive COVID-19 nursing home eligible patients from Article 28 hospitals to these nursing homes to further their recovery prior to discharge to home or to another nursing home.”

We are supposed to cheer about this? We are supposed to issue heartfelt thanks to Governor Cuomo for his generous move to help the elderly survive COVID? Establishing a 24-hour hotline for nursing homes to utilize to send a COVID patient to one of these new nursing homes is GREAT! As long as the hotline doesn’t take weekends and holidays off.

Furthermore, 1,941 beds in these new nursing homes sounds like a lot, but it isn’t. Why? Multiple reasons. 

We’ve ALL known from damned near the beginning that this virus flu crap hits the elderly the hardest. Reasonable rational people, Andrew Cuomo is NOT one of those, have fully understood that additional precautions for their health and safety needed to be taken. However, I still disagree with the total isolation of the elderly as that is AS harmful as the virus itself. 

That said, we’ve watched as more and more information is uncovered regarding Cuomo’s nursing home shenanigans. And as more data is uncovered, it is astounding to me why there isn’t a recall effort sweeping the state. 

Particularly in light of the fact that the number of elderly who did in the nursing g homes was 50- 65% HIGHER than the six thousand Cuomo had been touting. 

Secondly, why did Cuomo quietly start building COVID only nursing homes around the state? Two reasons in my opinion. 

One: He knew he screwed the pooch when it started becoming public that yes, Cuomo did indeed send COVID positive patients into the nursing homes.

Two: MONEY BABY and a fear of Trump and a DOJ investigation.

Yes, you read that correctly. Melissa DeRosa, Andrew Cuomo’s aide, admitted they made a calculated move to hide the data from the feds. Now, she SAYS it was because of President Trump’s tweets and fear that a DOJ investigation would be started if the REAL numbers were revealed. I don’t doubt there was concern about the DOJ opening an investigation. As for fear of Trump’s tweets, that’s only because Cuomo knew he’d have a PR and political nightmare on his hands. 

Guess what Andy, you have a PR and political nightmare on your hands RIGHT NOW. Especially when Melissa essentially apologized to NY Dem lawmakers for inconveniencing them! “Please appreciate the context.” 

Dem lawmakers were having none of it. 

“State Senate Aging Committee Chairwoman Rachel May (D-Syracuse) — who was battered during her re-election bid last year over the issue of nursing home deaths — also ripped into DeRosa, saying her former opponent had launched another broadside earlier in the day.

“And the issue for me, the biggest issue of all is feeling like I needed to defend — or at least not attack — an administration that was appearing to be covering something up,” she said.

“And in a, in a pandemic, when you want the public to trust the public health officials, and there is this clear feeling that they’re not coming, being forthcoming with you, that is really hard and it remains difficult.”

Senator May, let me help you out here. There was a coverup. Period. Full Stop. The timeline of events shows it. The Cuomo administration needs to be hung out to dry on this. 

Janice Dean, who lost both of her in-laws to Cuomo’s nursing home Covid mandate, was understandably fired up about this news.

She’s right. Cuomo needs to be in jail. While they were sending people to nursing homes to die and infect others, what was Andrew Cuomo doing?

Oh. Hello citizens of the State of New York! Are you mad yet? Have you finally had enough? How much more do you need to see to understand that Cuomo is more interested in playing political games instead of saving lives?

“The state of New York has warned hospitals that they cannot start giving COVID-19 vaccines to elderly people until they finish vaccinating hospital staff members, according to an email sent to hospitals just before midnight on Feb. 5 from the governor’s vaccination chief.”

Remember, the Javits Center? Of those 12,000 nursing home patients, the Javits Center could’ve taken care of nearly three thousand, but only saw five hundred. The USS Comfort? Had a capacity of one thousand. How many patients were actually housed there? 182. 

But calling Cuomo out is the equivalent of pouncing.

Cuomo NEEDS to be investigated and held accountable. Over fifteen thousand people died needlessly because of his arrogant political power games.
