Earlier today CNN published this bombshell of a story. Basically a “gotcha” on President-Elect Donald Trump.
(CNN) Classified documents presented last week to President Obama and President-elect Trump included allegations that Russian operatives claim to have compromising personal and financial information about Mr. Trump, multiple US officials with direct knowledge of the briefings tell CNN.
Wow. Really? Its CNN therefore the story is real, right?
I mean, he got briefed by all the intelligence chiefs so it must be true. Isn’t it?
Meanwhile, Twitter went bat crap crazy. A sampling:
I don't want to be dramatic, but just FYI, the biggest scandal in American political history may be breaking as we speak…. https://t.co/Io1wWd8AYE

@joshrogin @CNN this is like presidency ending if true

How are we going to have an inauguration next week? I mean, really. I need to know more about this CNN story on Trump and the Russians…
— Charles M. Blow (@CharlesMBlow) January 10, 2017
Russian mischief. either they have something, or they want all THINKING they have something. either way, cloudy skies.
— John Donvan (@JohnDonvan) January 10, 2017
Well, if the Russians want us to THINK there is a problem, its working. HOWEVER, once you get past the headline you read THIS:
The allegations were presented in a two-page synopsis that was appended to a report on Russian interference in the 2016 election. The allegations came, in part, from memos compiled by a former British intelligence operative, whose past work US intelligence officials consider credible. The FBI is investigating the credibility and accuracy of these allegations, which are based primarily on information from Russian sources, but has not confirmed many essential details in the memos about Mr. Trump. [Emphasis Added]
Wait what? Nothing is confirmed? Allegations only? Is this CNN or a fly by night gossip rag?
CNN going to need more than anon sources to show why the Intel report on its face really is as bad as it looks.

A lot more. Others agreed and some suggested that it would be wise to sit tight and wait for more information. Factual and verified information. Well, no sooner had some suggested caution, then this shows up from Ben Smith, the editor of Buzzfeed:
Here's the note I sent to @buzzfeednews staff this evening pic.twitter.com/OcAloWzVzb
— Ben Smith (@BuzzFeedBen) January 11, 2017
OH REALLY?? You’ve been parsing through these memos for months, still can’t verify anything as factual but finally decided to publish it? Yay for “journalism!” NOT. Oh and Ben? I’d say you need to revisit the definitions of transparency, allegations, and especially JOURNALISM. I don’t think any of the three mean what you think they mean.
Understandably the President-Elect isn’t pleased.
FAKE NEWS – A TOTAL POLITICAL WITCH HUNT!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 11, 2017
Honestly? I wouldn’t be either. A story is now out, running all over the world basically, blaring that Trump may have been compromised by the Russians. A story that is reliant SOLELY on unverified allegations.
My impression seems to be that Trump is learning what happens if a president crosses the intelligence community. He was warned.

Yeah, I’d say that’s right on point. Needless to say, I’m in the camp of…if its really real, then how come NOTHING is verified and everything is allegations and innuendo? As stated above, I’d say we’d all do well to wait for more credible information rather than relying on CNN’s channeling the National Enquirer with this report.
Meanwhile, one other thing to think of. CNN broke this story today and its gaining legs. Right at the same time a certain POTUS is getting ready to make his final Me, Myself, and I speech in Chicago tonight.
You could not write this in a film script. The Trump stuff tumbling out at Obama readies his farewell speech. What a night.

No you can’t. Whether this story is true or not, and right now it has more holes than a leaky sieve, it certainly has to chap Obama’s hide that a story about Trump, whether it’s true or not, has upstaged him once again.
I am not a Trump fan, although I voted for him. However, this smells like a fish head wrapped in moldy newspaper that has been in the garbage can for 3 hot days in August.
Perfect description of what this “story” is!
Increasingly, there is a desperate quality as to what is reported as “news” concerning PE Trump. This CNN report looks to be another example of unvetted rumor and innuendo which is breathlessly repeated. The motive appears to be because it makes PE Trump or his nominees or advisers look bad.
Exactly. In fact, at least one person mentioned in the memos has already shown and had others verify he wasn’t where the memos alleged he was.
However, that hasn’t stopped others from trying to turn allegations into actual facts without any concrete proof…
And according to the UK Daily Mail, John McCain had a hand in this. I wish he would just be honest with the world and declare himself a Democrat; as long as he’s got an R next to his name whenever he aligns himself against DJT the media can use one of their favorite expressions, “bipartisan support.”
I keep hearing rumors that McCain had a hand in the rise of ISIS, that he considered them “freedom fighters” since they were against Syria’s Assad. If it’s true I hope the story becomes public and he does the decent thing and resign. I regret voting for him in ’08, but I did it because his name was tied to Sarah Palin’s. She was the one I voted for; when he “suspended” his campaign it was obvious he had all the sense of a lemming, and everything he’s done since then just confirms my feelings. Just nine more days to go, folks!
MOGA and MAGA!!!
