Biden sent a letter to OPEC today. In it he begs the oil cartel for…MORE OIL. Why? Because gas prices keep rising, which is ticking off Americans, so Biden is now begging for more oil. From OPEC.
Biden’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan issued a statement on Wednesday urging OPEC — the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries — to move faster to restore global supply of gasoline to pre-pandemic levels.
“Higher gasoline costs, if left unchecked, risk harming the ongoing global recovery. The price of crude oil has been higher than it was at the end of 2019, before the onset of the pandemic,” Sullivan said.
“While OPEC+ recently agreed to production increases, these increases will not fully offset previous production cuts that OPEC+ imposed during the pandemic until well into 2022. At a critical moment in the global recovery, this is simply not enough.”
When I saw the news of this, I honestly started laughing. I laughed even more at this bit from the White House.

Biden has made one thing VERY clear to Americans, access to reliable and affordable energy does NOT include the affordable oil and natural gas from right here in the United States. Furthermore, as we wrote in January, Biden made things MORE costly when he killed the Keystone Pipeline!
If Biden hadn’t been so dead set on killing the energy industry here in the United States, he might not have had to go begging to OPEC for more oil!
Oh it’s not only ironic, it is infuriating. This country, under President Trump was miles down the road to energy independence from OPEC and others. Biden cratered that in January. Oh, but some are saying it’s the unexpected effect of more people on the roads now than there were last year. Others are likely pointing to the major oil pipeline hack in May as to why prices have increased. There are a great many factors involved in the rise in oil prices.
However, keep in mind, OPEC had increased production and was strategically filling well over 400,000 barrels a day each month. Meanwhile Canada, which has its own ability to produce crude is IMPORTING oil from…the United States.
Needless to say, US oil producers are less than amused by this latest from Biden.
North Dakota Senator John Hoeven said it would make more sense to support domestic production, which provides high-paying jobs at home than to funnel more American dollars to OPEC+ countries.
“The Biden admin should stop undermining US domestic energy production & end the ban on new oil and gas leasing on federal land,” Hoeven said.
NDPC President Ron Ness, meanwhile, said the statement is just the latest in a string of actions the Biden administration has taken to “hamstring” the American oil and gas industry.
Our energy production has been drastically harmed by the Biden Administration’s push for the Green New Deal. The thing is, the OPEC cartel only wants money. As for thinking all involved in OPEC are friendly to the United States? No, no they aren’t.
Here’s the rub. Biden goes begging to OPEC to give us more oil. He doesn’t even try to find out what the capabilities are of our domestic oil production and how quickly that can be ramped up.
Thus, we are paying MORE for oil from overseas instead of paying Americans businesses for their oil.

What is best for this country is to not embarrass ourselves by begging OPEC for more oil. What is best for this country is for US to produce our OWN oil and, as was happening in the last two years of the Trump Administration, EXPORT more oil. That’s an economic win for the U.S., but it’s obvious that no one in the Biden Administration understands that. Or, if they do, they just don’t give a damn.
