The final report makes it clear. The Obama administration including then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton failed at multiple levels to protect the Ambassador, embassy personnel, and the embassy itself prior to and during the September 11, 2012 attack that left four Americans dead.
However, if you listen to the Democrats you’d have thought this was only a political witch hunt.
Republicans have denied those accusations and, on Tuesday, Chairman Trey Gowdy’s committee will offer new details about how Clinton’s State Department failed to protect the diplomatic outpost in Libya. It will also show how the CIA missed the looming threat despite warnings and wrote faulty intelligence reports after the attack. The findings will also indicate that the Defense Department did not meet its response times to deploy military assets to Benghazi and follow up to ensure Americans were rescued in a timely fashion.
Members of the GOP House Committee outlined the report at a press conference this morning.
As Stephen Hayes reports in the Weekly Standard, an additional 51 page report authored by Representatives Jim Jordan and Mike Pompeo provides a contrast between the actual events and the administration’s “blame the video” tap dance. Read it all.
The timeline reinforces in a compelling way what will be one of the most significant takeaways from the committee investigation: The Obama administration knowingly provided the American people a false story about the Benghazi attack, its causes and its consequences.
There are quite a few other items of note in the 800 page report. Cheryl Mills inserted herself directly into the internal investigation by the State Department’s Accountability Review Board (ARB). She influenced who spoke with whom while the investigation was underway, hindered and in fact changed the ARB investigatory process, and edited the final report. In fact, the chair of ARB, Ambassador Thomas Pickering, a key backer of the Iran Deal was selected by Mills personally. Furthermore, he also made sure Hillary was never questioned by the board during its investigation.
AMBASSADOR PICKERING: Because in fact, we knew where the responsibility rested. She had already stated on a number of occasions, she accepted as a result of her job, the full responsibility. On the other hand, legislation setting up our board made it very clear that they didn’t want a situation in which a department or agency had accepted responsibility and then nobody looked at where the decisions were made. And how and what way those decisions affected performance on security. And whether people where thus responsible for failures or performance. That’s what we were asked to do and that’s what we did.
The fix was most certainly in. Here’s something else.
Barack Obama skipped his daily intelligence briefing one day after the Benghazi attacks on September 11, 2012.
Of course he did. An attack on Americans, an attack on an American embassy in a foreign country, and our current President can’t even attend a high priority intelligence briefing the morning after. Why? Likely because he was sleeping in after a hard night of partying.

In fact, the President himself blamed the video multiple times over the following weeks. Never mind the fact that…
Very first written piece produced by CIA analysts said attack was “intentional assault” not “escalation of…protest" pic.twitter.com/VazNCFzPr2

In other words, we now know for sure the video had ZERO influence on the attack. NONE.
Was anyone the administration worried about the lives of those in the embassy as they were under attack? Not. So. Much.

If anything this report, which you can read in full here, finds that what happened in Benghazi and the subsequent tap dancing that continues to this day by the Administration, the President, and a presumptive pants-suited nominee was a massive failure at all levels. Quite frankly, Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-KS) says it best.
“We expect our government to make every effort to save the lives of Americans who serve in harm’s way. That did not happen in Benghazi. Politics were put ahead of the lives of Americans, and while the administration had made excuses and blamed the challenges posed by time and distance, the truth is that they did not try.”
They did not try because they do not care about their responsibility and culpability in the deaths of Ambassador Chris Stevens, Tyrone Woods, Sean Smith, and Glen Doherty. They willfully and purposefully misled the American public and the world on the actual events all to ensure Hillary’s Libya policy stayed intact and Obama got himself reelected that November. This is leadership at is very worst.
You missed one very interesting tidbit in the report.
The folks who helped out our people in Benghazi were former Quadaffi folks. You know, the ones whose foes we were explicitly supporting there.
o.O
That may involve a blog post all its own tied into Hillary’s failed libya policies! 😉
