A New Beginning, Again, With Marianne Williamson

A New Beginning and Disrupt the System are a couple of Marianne Williamson’s presidential campaign slogans. Yep, the groovy peace-loving spiritual leader and the multi-book author is running for President again.

Williamson is the first opponent to challenge Biden. Joe Biden hasn’t even announced he’s running for re-election yet.

Is it just me, or does she sound more revved up than she did in 2020? Honestly, I didn’t give her much attention the last go-round, but I want to watch her this time. She seems fun and at least has some pep in her step, right? Then again, she’s only 70, so there’s that. Plus, she can get through a sentence without cackling.

I love that she has a website with just her first name at Marianne.com, and on that website, underneath her books and writings, she announces to her fans with love and gratitude that she is officially running for the office of President in 2024.

You know, if she wasn’t running for the other side, I might just like her. Then again, the more stuff I dig up on her the more I will be appalled, I’m sure. Victory Girl Kim Hirsch wrote about her back in 2019.

She’s led an interesting life thus far. She doesn’t like staying in place long, anywhere, according to her Wikipedia page. Which is kind of good when it comes to politics.

The Democrats are having a come-apart over her announcement. Some are calling her efforts a joke or just a ploy to sell more of her self-help guru books. Others don’t want to recognize her at all, just ignore it and it will go away mentality.

From the New York Post article

Steve Morris, a senior producer at Recount Media, said Williamson’s announcement was “really quite compelling,” before adding: “I do get that this is how people fall into cults.”

“Let’s be clear: Marianne Williamson is a joke. She’s a fundamentally unserious candidate running as a stunt to sell her books,” said Santiago Mayer, the founder and executive director of Voters of Tomorrow.

Oh, now, what’s this? Marianne disrupting your system, is she?

I mean, you never know. It could happen. Remember what everyone said about Trump running up to 2016?

Who is Marianne Williamson?

But with all seriousness, Marianne Williamson will not get the nomination. But good on her for getting out there and trying, even if she does want to give away $100 billion in reparations. A 2021 Washington Examiner article lists it as $6.2 quadrillion in demanded reparations. So Marianne’s proposal might be a little more doable. And we probably should start getting used to saying quadrillion soon.

Anyway, it’s not like Marianne has just sat around typing out book after self-help book. She has been relatively active in her life, starting charities and organizations. I guess that’s a career?

In 2014, Marianne Williamson ran as an Independent for California’s 33rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives and had some brand name support too. She finished 4th out of 18 candidates. So she has had some practice.

It will be fun and kind of exciting to keep an eye on her. I hope I get to write about her often, and heck, maybe I can even do a review write-up of one of her books. I mean, they don’t sound terrible.

Her book, A Woman’s Worth (1993), seems a little anti-trans don’t ya think? She’s presumptuous as to think she knows what a woman is and, quite frankly, a little surprised she’s not been canceled yet.

The world, as it is, has very little use for womanhood. You are considered a weaker sex and considered a sex object. You are thoroughly dispensable except for bearing children. Your youth is the measure of your worth and your age is the measure of your worthlessness. Do not look to the world for your sustenance or for your identity as a woman because you will not find them there. The world despises you. God adores you.

On second thought, I’ll leave it to Dylan Mulvaney to write the review. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mulvaney interviewing Marianna Williamson soon.
