In New York City you are not allowed to defend yourself. That’s according to Alvin Bragg who just charged a parking attendant with attempted murder.
A Manhattan parking garage attendant who was shot twice while confronting an alleged thief — then wrestled the gun away and opened fire on the suspect — has been charged with attempted murder, police said.
The overnight worker, identified by cops as Moussa Diarra, 57, was also hit with assault and criminal possession of a weapon charge in the Saturday incident, which unfolded around 5:30 a.m. as the attendant saw a man peering into cars on the second floor of the West 31st Street garage, the sources said.
Stop right there and read that again. The parking attendant, doing his JOB, stops someone he believes is stealing. That alleged thief pulls a gun and SHOOTS the parking attendant. TWICE. Yet the DA’s office is charging Moussa Diarra with attempted murder and threw in a weapons charge as well?? Oh sure, it’s all fine and dandy that the alleged thief is getting charged as well.
Yet the DA’s office is slapping weapons and murder charges on a guy who was defending himself!

Not only is this crazy. It is infuriating. Here we have Alvin Bragg and his office spoon feeding their version of “facts” to a grand jury so they’ll finally indict Trump on misdemeanor charges, yet criminals have been coddled to the extent that any civilian defending themselves from assault and/or getting SHOT is charged with attempted murder!
This has happened before. We wrote about bodega employee Jose Alba here. Alba defended himself from assault against a guy who was out on parole for assaulting a cop. Except the DA’s office didn’t care about that. They put Alba in jail and managed to convince a judge to slap a half a million in bail, which was reduced to $250,000. Except that Alba shouldn’t have been charged at all. Yet this is how Alvin Bragg’s office rolls.
There are many more cases just like this that have happened since Bragg was elected.
A Manhattan gangbanger with a knack for high-end heists could have his latest charges dropped thanks to a sweetheart deal from District Attorney Alvin Bragg — because prosecutors have too much on their plates to try the case, The Post has learned.
Charles Lindsay — a reputed member of the “Rich Fam” gang, which has a history of pulling off pricey robberies — was last hauled into court Dec. 10 for allegedly stealing nearly $25,000 in pricey handbags and other items from Madison Avenue boutiques, according to sources and court records.
Lindsay, 22, is also a suspect in the rape of a 15-year-old girl in May in Brooklyn, as well as a February grand larceny and a robbery in March, sources said.

The percentage of criminals skating since Bragg took office? A LOT. 52% got the gift of having felony charges reduced to misdemeanors. The rest of the stats are equally infuriating.
Meanwhile, Bragg managed to lose almost half of his serious felony cases, winning a conviction just 51% of the time, which is down from a victory rate of 68% in 2019, right before the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted courts in New York and nationwide. By the end of last year, Bragg had declined to prosecute approximately 35% more felony cases than in 2019. Misdemeanor convictions had also taken a dramatic downward turn, falling to 29% at the time of the data analysis, from 68% in 2019.

On and off-duty police officers are being attacked in the Big Apple. Is the DA holding those attackers to account? No. Instead, due to political pressure, Alvin Bragg used DA resources to go after President Trump.
As we’ve repeatedly pointed out, soft-on-crime district attorneys like Alvin Bragg are causing huge problems. As in crime is going up, people and businesses are leaving those cities, and innocent citizens are being charged for defending themselves.
Moussa Diarra shouldn’t have been charged for defending himself after having an alleged thief shoot him, TWICE. But again, that’s how Alvin Bragg rolls.
What is it going to take for the people of New York to realize that Alvin Bragg’s ‘coddle the criminals and punish the innocents’ is bad for them and bad for business?

That’s what one particularly evil, hypocritical asshole said a few articles back, isn’t it? So who are we to complain about a man being put into legal jeopardy and forced to suffer to defend himself?

There’s an easy solution to that. Let the people take back the responsibility to deal with these sociopaths. Put the roles of judge, jury, and executioner back in the hands of the people themselves. I guarantee the backlog of cases would be cleared in a few months.
GWB says: I will make one “Devil’s advocate” statement:
IF the parking attendant wrestled the gun away, and the thief took off, and the attendant then shot at him while he was fleeing, that’s going to be a crime. No self-defense laws anywhere in the country allow you to shoot a fleeing felon if you are not a cop (and not always then, either).
Of course, even then, a prosecutor should take into account that an honest jury wouldn’t likely convict a man who had just been shot by that same gun. And if he’s counting on not having an honest jury, then he shouldn’t be a prosecutor.
