As we watched the poll numbers rise for DJT in Indiana last night, some were elated. Some felt the impending sense of doom when Ted Cruz announced that he was suspending his campaign. John Kasich followed suit today. We heard the words “Trump–Presumptive GOP Nominee” uttered and thrown up on news websites. We saw this from the New York Daily News:
Many went along with the media’s ploy and mourned the “death” of the Republican Party. Some also mourned the death of Conservatism. The predictable dialogue ensued. Trump is not a true Conservative (a statement that I could not agree with more). A vote or Trump is a vote for Hillary. Refusing to vote for Trump is a vote for Hillary. Trump is bombastic, a womanizer, a racist, a philanderer. Melania Trump is just a pretty face and will not offer much as a first lady… and so on and so forth. All the while, those in opposition have been told to put their big boy/girl pants on and rally behind the presumptive candidate.
It’s going to be a long while before we are all sitting around a fire singing “Kumbaya”. Face it, this may never happen. Opinions were voiced, stances were taken and insults upon insults were hurled and they continue to be doled out. This will go on into November and perhaps beyond. The game has changed. The players on the field are not the same and the political landscape as we once knew it has shifted on its tectonic plates. But if we, as Conservatives do not observe our surroundings and brace to be shaken, and perhaps rattled even more before all of this is said and done, we will find ourselves in the midst of a tsunami that we will be unable to recover from.
Conservatives are principled and strong. We are mighty and resilient. This infighting will produce an undertow that will knock down some…but we MUST remain standing. We need to continue to fight and voice our opinions…not just about political figures who may go against the very fiber of our beliefs and values but about every day folks like you and me who possess a different set of values and a different vision for their America. You think they’re not out there? Just look around good and hard. We may think Trump, his insults and unprofessional behavior and the media circus that has surrounded him for months is the sideshow but the other show that continues to play in the background of all of this is chipping away-slowly but surely-at ours and our children’s chances of a successful future. A chance of a life of normalcy. The “show” warps bit-by-bit the very Constitution and principles our America was founded upon. When all of the mudslinging comes to a halt, we are still a country, held together by a Constitution that so desperately needs to be defended. We cannot let Liberal America win and think that they have taken us down. We cannot afford them to even have this notion. They are loving our bickering and our fighting. They are loving hearing about the presumed “death” of Conservatism. They are hoping this will shut us up once and for all.
We have endured eight long years of Obama’s America. Eight long years of his ideologies. Eight excruciating years. Eight years of race-baiting, political correctness to the point of insanity and veiled insults to the American people and our Constitution. Eight years of communist ass-kissing and apologies to countries we should not be apologizing to and disrespecting some of our greatest allies. Eight years of being made fun of for our opinions if they differ from the popular ones, being told our Christian faith is bigoted whilst being asked to be tolerant of others. We have been bullied for eight years by a well-spoken Harvard-educated man. We can blame Barack Obama for his blatant defiance and disrespect but when all is said and done, presidents will point their power and their decisions (yes, even the bad ones) to the American people who made some noise. And when Liberals are not whining, they are very adept at making noise and getting noticed. I am not suggesting at all that we get violent or cause any riots here. But we don’t have to shut up and take it anymore nor should we. Ultimately, it’s not the just the president’s job to make better lives for our children. Some will argue that it is not the president’s job at all. WE have a responsibility as human beings on this earth to fight for what is right for us and future generations. As much as the left has made it a point to spread liberalism in our public schools and universities, we have more power in our homes and family settings to shape young minds and to educate them about this world-all of it-the good, the bad, the ugly. We need to be alert, perceptive.
Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories.-Sun Tzu, The Art of War
Some will register today to vote under another party affiliation. Some will burn their voter cards. Some will chant #NeverTrump. Some will write a name on the ballot in November. Trump supporters will blame the Republicans who do not support Trump for the death of the GOP and a Hillary win. Some will continue to hurl insults at these men and women while ignoring our cultural climate and the field day the media and the left is having with all of this. Myself? I’m yearning for days of old. Yearning for an era that appears to have disappeared. We may not see it in our lifetime but I can be hopeful that through vigilance and truly knowing our enemies, our children might.
