The Memphis area is reeling after a police officer was shot and killed less than three months after another Memphis officer, Sean Bolton was also murdered.

Officer Terence Olridge was reportedly in uniform and on his way to work when he was shot several times.

Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong said officers got a call around 1 p.m. about a shooting at a home in the Memphis suburb of Cordova. He said a male suspect is in custody, but didn’t say whether the person has been charged.

Armstrong said the investigation is ongoing and that “details are sketchy.”

Olridge leaves behind a pregnant fiancee and a grieving police force.

Olridge had only been with the Memphis Police Dept. since September 2014, when he started as a basic recruit. A smiling Olridge was interviewed in February by FOX13 when he graduated to the police force.

“Got a task ahead of me and I am prepared,” he said.

The suspect, who is in custody, has not yet been charged or identified.

I am waiting to see if the Black Lives Matter crowd will care that a black police officer was gunned down in front of his own home. If “black lives matter,” then what about Officer Olridge’s life? Or do they only see the uniform, which negates this black man’s life and death in their eyes? I don’t really expect them to answer. I expect these hypocrites to ignore this officer’s death, because it doesn’t fit their narrative.

Rest in peace, Officer Olridge, and may your killer be charged and brought to justice.

UPDATE 12:10 pm ET:
The suspect has been identified and charged, though not with murder yet.

Lorenzo Clark, 36, was charged with felony possession of a firearm in connection with officer Terrence Olridge’s death. The men are neighbors.

Karen Lax also lives in the neighborhood and told WMC she witnessed the suspect during a previous hostile encounter with a different neighbor.

“I’m not really surprised something bad happened,” she said.
