AOC’s Modern Carpetbagger Tour Rolls Into Memphis

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) flew in from New York on Friday to campaign for Justin Pearson in Memphis. She wasn’t just there to help a candidate. She showed up to declare that it’s time for the progressive North to take over the South. What started out as a local get-out-the-vote rally quickly turned into a full-blown invasion announcement.

If the name Justin Pearson doesn’t immediately ring a bell, he’s the Tennessee state representative whose House-floor protest turned him into the Left’s latest political rock star. Since then, he’s become a favorite of progressive activists nationwide. It explains why AOC came all the way from New York to campaign for him.

You can imagine AOC saying to Hillary, “hold my beer.”

Northern Invasion Of The South

AOC broke out some god-awful fake Southern accent to announce that it is time for the North to roll down and take over the South. She proclaimed that they will not be chased out of places anymore, brothahs and sistahs.

This carpetbagging chameleon can morph from Bronx bartender to Southern revival preacher faster than kudzu climbs a fence post.

And chased out by whom exactly? Last I checked, voters in Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Alabama have simply been making different political choices than the ones AOC prefers. Apparently, that’s now considered “being chased out.”

Claiming Dr. King’s Legacy

It wasn’t enough to campaign for Justin Pearson. AOC also wrapped the evening in Civil Rights imagery, telling the crowd they were to pick up where King left off 58 years ago. So what, exactly, does AOC think happened after 1968? Did an entire nation just sit around twiddling its thumbs until she arrived to pick up where King left off? What an ego.

Dr. King’s legacy belongs to history, not to one political party. Memphis has real, sacred history with Dr. King, and using that legacy to juice up a local Democratic primary race is pure opportunism.

But the bigger message was clear: the progressive cavalry has arrived, and they’re not leaving. Well, we’ll see about that.

That Fake Accent And The Performance

Let’s be real about the delivery. AOC’s speaking style changes depending on the room, and Memphis it was on full display. It was all very theatrical.

There’s an old Southern term for people like AOC: carpetbagger. AOC flew down from New York urged Northern progressives to start invading the South. Basically announcing they refuse to be pushed out of any territory. She celebrated outsiders coming in to build power here.

Time To Prance Back North

Here’s the bottom line, Congresswoman. Prance your silly northern ass back to NYC and stay out of the south with your fake accent and your brothers and sistahs routine. We’ve got plenty of homegrown leaders who actually understand what we value here in the Cotton Belt. We don’t need imported lectures from someone who thinks the solution to every Southern problem is more New York-style progressivism.

Southerners have long memories little girl. We tend to smile politely when outsiders explain how we ought to live. And then we go vote. We’ll handle our own politics thank you very much.

This rally wasn’t really about Justin Pearson’s local issues. It was about nationalizing the race and turning the South into the next conquest for the socialist movement. They see opportunity here and they’re not backing down.

Socialists view the south as a untapped territory waiting to be organized and flipped. Well, message received AOC. Just know that Southern hospitality has its limits. We may offer you sweet tea and a smile, but don’t mistake either one for surrender.

I’m sure that AOC’s attitude will go over well in the South (that’s a joke Son). Tennessee was part of that little contretemps in the 1860’s and although not as touchy about it as Alabama or Georgia I can’t imagine the statement that the Southern states need to be run like the (dysfunctional) northern states ending well. She is living up to her clueless reputation. At least Hilary usually knew NOT to poke that particular bear…

I remember when Donkey Chompers led the charge to deny people in her district jobs at Amazon when they were trying to build there. Ella tiene las pelotas to talk about people being left behind.

    Well bless her heart.

Speek’n purfkt Southern Negro dialect. Right out of Hollywood.

Did she rehearse by listening to repeated showings of Songs of the South and Gone With The Wind?

From the military I know many Blacks. None of them sound like her. Their English is excellent – Calling in fire support is no place for misunderstandings.
