Thin-Skinned President: Obama Rudely Answers Major Garrett’s Iran Question

America’s peevish President demonstrated his petulant propensity when CBS’s Major Garrett asked him a question about the hostages left in Iran after cutting a nuclear deal with that nation during a press conference.

Garrett took the ‘spanking’ in stride. “Sometimes you have to take a scolding from a president to get to an answer,” he told anchor Contessa Brewer. “That’s part of my job. Politics, especially those elected as president, are very adept at creating straw men…that’s exactly what the president did. Clearly it struck an serve. That was my intention…Was it provocative? Yes. Was it intended to be as such? Absolutely.”

Over at CNN, Jim Acosta stood up for Garrett’s incisive question.

However, Dana Bash, another CNN reporter, lambasted Major Garrett for his question. How dare that serf address the emperor so!

A Twitter user fired back at Bash.

Ron Fournier of the National Journal tried to have it both ways.

Uh, no. Not buying it.

Television personality and former Navy officer Montel Williams, who has pushed for answers on the Iran hostages,  also supported Garrett’s question:

Poor President Prickly. A reporter has dared to rain on his celebration and is deserving of a public scolding. It’s too bad more in the press don’t have the cajones of Major Garrett when it comes to demanding the truth of this pompous president.

Amazing video. Obama froze for a full 8 seconds after the word “content” crossed Garrett’s lips, then grimaced, and then another 4 full seconds passed before he resumed his head bobbing.

You people are hilarious in your stupidity. Major Garrett is a pompous ass. As a reporter, he should just ask the question. He’s just trying to score points with teabagger losers, like you. President Obama schooled the fool 🙂

It’s the use of that one word that changed the whole question. The concept of the question is quite legit. By throwing in the word “content”, however, the reporter changed the focus. Let’s put it another way: If a reporter had asked then President Bush if he was content with the fact that 4,000 Americans died overseas during military actitivies there, would Ms. Quade shrug it off so casually as no big deal?

I know that makes him a darling of the right. But I think the guy screwed up. He gave the president an opening so that the question didn’t have to be answered.

I am old enough to remember when Ronald Reagan was peppered repeatedly with biting questions from Sam Donaldson — and Reagan would answer with calm and good humor:

Sam Donaldson: “Mr. President, in talking about the continuing recession tonight, you have blamed mistakes in the past. You have blamed the Congress. Does any of the blame belong to you?”
Reagan: “Yes, because for many years I was a Democrat!”

And yes, a president should be prepared to answer any question. No matter how harsh. Trouble is, the media is so in the tank for Obama that he thinks he’s entitled to a constant stream of softballs.

How dare this peon question the One. One IRS audit coming up for this thoughtcriminal scum.
