A recent write-up in Axios has Mike Zapler questioning if the current vocabulary of Democrats is what they need for a 2028 White House win.

The background? Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear told Michigan Democrats that candidates should “talk like a normal human” to connect with voters and win elections in tough states.

But can they really talk like normal human beings? Equality became diversity, equity and inclusion. Abortion has changed its definition over the years from “freedom of choice” to “reproductive healthcare” to, the latest, “gender-affirming healthcare”. A baby is a “clump of cells”, a “fetus”. Prison inmates and criminals are the “justice-involved population”. Illegal aliens are “undocumented immigrants”. Riots became “peaceful protest”. Complying by getting a shot in your arm became “following the science”. Drug addiction is now “substance abuse”. Hunger and starvation is “food insecurity”. Parents are “birthing people”. Pregnant women became “pregnant people”. If you dared question this concept, you are “othering”. A boy child who tried on his mother’s heels ONCE or a girl who liked to play in the dirt and dig up worms became “gender questioning”. Mutilating children for the sake of their “gender questioning” became “gender affirming care”. The morbidly obese became “body positive”. Praying at a mosque became “social justice”. Socialism is “warm collectivism”. Being a Muslim is “cooler” than being a Christian. I can go on.

There’s more. Giving drug addicts free, clean needles became “harm reduction”. Homeless people are “formerly unhoused” and the drug addicts tho live on the streets and don’t want to go into clean and sober housing are “home free”. Prostitution became “sex work”. The “path to citizenship” was their fancy little phraseology for blanket amnesty. Privileged became a definition for anyone who questioned the buzzwords. Yes, they also peppered in bigot, nazi and fascist on occasion. All while some sit, discussing pedagogy in our schools and doing book studies instead of actually teaching our kids. The party of education.

For a party that spends billions of dollars trying to find the perfect language to connect to voters, Democrats and their allies use an awful lot of words and phrases no ordinary person would ever dream of saying. The intent of this language is to include, broaden, empathize, accept, and embrace. The effect of this language is to sound like the extreme, divisive, elitist, and obfuscatory, enforcers of wokeness. To please the few, we have alienated the many—especially on culture issues, where our language sounds superior, haughty and arrogant.”-thirdway.org

Maybe the Kennedy Democrats did not run or govern on wildly out-of-touch social positions but the Democrats of today do. Their language games mask the truth into a false, albeit pretentious, package of horses#it. They do not live in the real world. I literally saw a guy with boobs tell someone that they did not live in the real world just the other day. The language oozes self-importance and smugness.

We will never abandon our values or stop doing things to protect those who need help, encouragement, trust, a second chance, acceptance, a fair shake, and the opportunity to pursue life, liberty and happiness. But as the catastrophe of Trump 2.0 has shown, the most important thing we can do for these people and causes is to build a bigger army to fight them. Communicating in authentic ways that welcome rather than drive voters away would be a good start.”-thirdway.org

What values? Aborting children? Mutilating children? Placing the livelihoods of illegal criminals over the lives of innocent citizens? Letting the “unhoused” and “substance-dependent” drug addicts live on the streets, shoot up and prostitute themselves and, God forbid, eventually die in a back alley? Letting the “justice-involved population” out of jails and prisons so they can “live normal lives” and do their drug deals, rape and-if they have not done so already-kill again?

Values. They can’t talk like normal humans because anyone who believes in some of their platforms, is arguably, not a normal human being and needs some help. (Side bar: at some point in time, we all need some help so I am not disparaging people who seek counseling from a medical professional). But if the Democrats did not have their language, their little euphemisms, they would be even more dead in the water. Can they even dig themselves out of the depths of their own hubris? I’ll fetch the popcorn. Cannot wait to watch this ally-ship of fools.
