Chuck Schumer decided to swing for the racism fences again this morning. You see, according to him the SAVE Act will put us right back into the 1930’s era of Jim Crow laws. Yes, really.
According to him, the SAVE Act will be DOA in the Senate.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Monday that a push by Republicans to safeguard federal elections through the SAVE Act would be “dead on arrival” in the Senate.
In a statement, Schumer compared Republicans’ renewed push to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act to the Jim Crow era, drawing criticism from conservatives who say the legislation is aimed at preventing noncitizens from voting.
“It is a poison pill that will kill any legislation it is attached to. If House Republicans add the SAVE Act to the bipartisan appropriations package it will lead to another prolonged Trump government shutdown,” Schumer said in the statement.
Yes, his statement is quite the doozy.
What the SAVE Act attempts to do, if passed, is safeguard our votes and ensure that AMERICANS are the only voters in any election – especially the federal elections.
Yet for weeks now I’ve seen Democrats blather on about how the SAVE Act will disenfranchise women because we are just too stupid to figure out how to get our names changed after we get married.
Yes, that was a thing for awhile, Hillary is a prime example.
Fast forward to today and we have Chuck Schumer insisting the passage of the SAVE Act would be the newest and worst Jim Crow law ever.
The SAVE Act would impose Jim Crow style restrictions on voting. It will be dead on arrival in the Senate.

It’s continually amazing to me how the Democrats are so quick to proclaim something will be Civil War era racist while hoping we all forget that it was DEMOCRATS who enacted Jim Crow laws in the post-Civil War era!
I mean, how hard is it to prove you are who you are in order to vote?
The updated version of the SAVE Act would require that people present photo identification before voting, states obtain proof of citizenship in-person when people register to vote and remove non-citizens from voter rolls.
I’m totally ok with providing verified photo ID before voting. Heck, I’m even ok with showing up at voting booth with my birth certificate in hand! What I’ve never been ok with is showing up with an electric bill with one’s name on it, but wasn’t required to show ID.
Let’s look at what this SAVE Act legislation involves.
The SAVE America Act would protect and preserve the right of American citizens to vote by:
Requiring individuals to present an eligible photo identification document before voting. (NEW provision)
Requiring states to obtain proof of citizenship – in person – when registering an individual to vote. (From original SAVE Act)
Requiring states to remove non-citizens from existing voter rolls. (From original SAVE Act)
Under the Biden-Harris administration, at least 10 million illegal aliens poured into communities nationwide. In many states, these illegal aliens are eligible for driver’s licenses and other benefits, providing ample opportunities to illegally register to vote in Federal elections. In some jurisdictions, non-citizens are even able to vote in local elections. While only U.S. citizens can legally vote in Federal elections, Federal law has generally preempted and undermined state laws requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote in such elections.
Back in 2024, 198 Democrats were against the SAVE Act because they had zero problems with illegals getting access to ballots. And, of course, hopefully voting Democrat.
When the SAVE Act was originally brought forth, and Georgia then passed their own updated election laws, the cries of racism and Jim Crow led to the asinine decision by Major League Baseball to pull the All-Star game from Atlanta. At least The Masters organization told the Democrats to pound sand.
And now, here we go again. Chuck Schumer has resurrected the Jim Crow playbook in hopes of killing the bill. Different day, same political pandering.
Schumer is definitely pandering to a very specific progressive coalition in his base. However, multiple polls, including the one below show genuine support for the SAVE Act and election integrity.

Schumer, with his Jim Crow ranting about the SAVE Act is also implying that Blacks, women, and Hispanics are too stupid to figure out how to get ID to vote. Or buy alcohol, get a hotel room, rent a car, buy a home, and so on.
Anna Paulina Luna is right.

Calling proof of citizenship “Jim Crow” is a smear—not an argument.
The SAVE Act is straightforward: prove U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.
Threatening a shutdown to block verification tells voters everything:
this isn’t…
But that’s the hill Schumer has decided to die upon. Pretty elitist and racist of him don’t you think?
