Most of us remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when Muslim extremists attacked us with our own jets in New York and D.C. in 2001.

We remember the brave Americans who prevented yet another attack after the Twin Towers and the Pentagon were hit. We remember the phone calls to loved ones after passengers and flight crews realized they were not returning home. We remember all of the people who died in those burning buildings-either from the impact of steel and concrete collapsing around them or jumping to their deaths from 100 stories up. We remember the lives lost attempting to rescue these poor people. We remember New York, in a shroud of smoke and rubble-terrorized survivors covered in debris and soot, running for their lives across the Brooklyn Bridge.

We also remember Muslims celebrating this destruction. Death to America.

But, you know who clearly forgot? New York Governor, Kathy Hochul.

As New York City swears in a new Mayor who placed his right hand on the Qu’ran, Governor Kathy Dim Wit actually thought lighting One World Trade Center green to “honor the heritage and culture of Muslim Americans.”

NYC Mayor, Zohran Mamdani wants a “clean slate” and this, no doubt, is part of it.

From small businesses to first responders? Does this include the Muslim-American first responders who died on 9/11? Kathy wants New York to be “committed to being a beacon of hope, tolerance, and inclusivity that celebrates the diversity of its Muslim American population and protects them from Islamophobia, hate, bias, and harm.”

And this, is why she wants to light Freedom Tower in green.

We have built small businesses, raised our families, pursued every profession, enriched our culture and cuisine, and been a part of what makes our city what it is today.

I am grateful for Governor Hochul’s leadership in recognizing these many contributions and ensuring that every January, Muslim New Yorkers can see ourselves reflected and recognized in a city and state that is also our home.”-Zohran Mamdani

My first reaction to Zoran’s statement was this: you did not build anything, bro, your parents did. But that would be a lie. Mr. Mamdani built a strong cult of personality throughout his campaign. New Yorkers have been lulled into visions of a utopian wonderland of scavenger hunts and craft nights and free transportation and government grocery stores. All this while he walks back his Intifada comments, executive orders to prevent antisemitism and swears on the Qu’ran.

The Institute for Social Policy and Understanding reported the Muslim community in New York City makes up 12.5% of pharmacists, 40% of taxi drivers and more than 57% of street food vendors.”–Fox News

That’s great and all. But, the symbolism of this nod to light up everything in New York in green the day after a Muslim Mayor who swears on the Qu’ran, is a little off-putting, don’t you think? This is a city that has been built by the hands of MANY groups and cultures from many other belief systems. I am waiting for the month-long celebrations for the Catholics, the Christians, the Protestants, the Jewish. Let’s celebrate every nation if we want to be truly inclusive. We know, the LGBTQIA+ community may have to give up their several months of being honored…

…and whatever happened to the separation of church and state? Muslim/Islam is a religion. Is there no separation of Mosque and State, now? Is New York going to be called to prayer five times a day for the whole month? Honest question. If we look to the “wisdom” of Wajahat Ali of “the paper of record”, The New York Times, one of our founding fathers got his idea of religious freedom from the pages of the Qu’ran. Thomas Jefferson based his ideas off of ideas in the Quran, don’t you know? So, let’s light Freedom Tower up in green-the symbolic Muslim color of nature, life and renewal.

Signing the order to do this gives some pause to wonder, has Hochul forgotten?

The simple conclusion is, she hasn’t forgotten. She’s read the freaking room. She simply does not care.

This is a huge slap in the face to the families who lost loved ones on that day and to Americans in general. Freedom Tower in green all month but Veterans only get ONE DAY? Yes, let’s honor the group that killed 3,000 innocent Americans by lighting up GROUND ZERO.

If you’ve asked me back in 2001 if we would be lighting New York in green to honor “Muslim heritage”, I would have called out the bat guano crazy of this very notion. We gave NO ONE permission to attack us on that fateful day.

They did it anyway.

By doing this, we are giving Muslim extremism the green light. We are giving permission. We are rolling out the damn red carpet. Can I get an Allahu Akbar in the house?
