I went to the Trump Rally in Aurora, Colorado and it was an illuminating, and interesting day. Especially when the media reports paint a very different picture.
According to the media, how dare a Republican candidate for President use words like “war zone” to describe Aurora, CO and it’s problem with illegal immigration gangs!
Mike Coffman, the conservative Republican mayor of Aurora, Colo., had a message for former President Donald J. Trump before the Republican nominee for the White House came on Friday to a city he has repeatedly painted as having been taken over by vicious migrant street thugs.
The visit, Mr. Coffman said in a statement to The Times, “is an opportunity to show him and the nation that Aurora is a considerably safe city — not a city overrun by Venezuelan gangs. My public offer to show him our community and meet with our police chief for a briefing still stands.”
I live in this state, so I definitely have skin in the game as to what Coloradoans are concerned about.
As I stood in the line starting at 6am to get into the venue at The Gaylord, the conversations covered the gamut. Taxes are a huge concern. Inflation rates may be at 2.4% as trumpeted by the Biden Administration, but no one is seeing it at the pump, the grocery or clothing stores, nor on their utility bills.
Education is another issue. A couple from Denver talked about the increase in classroom size, which has led to teachers being overworked and the lack of resources for students who don’t speak English or even Spanish.
Others talked about the government regulations from local to the federal level that impact their business and how it sometimes seems futile to even try to get a city council to pay heed to the real world impacts regulations have on their ability to provide a necessary service to the community.
Aurora is a military town with Buckley Air Force Base right in the middle of the city. The strength and readiness of our military was of definite concern from veterans in the crowd. This Trump Ad, which played during President Trump’s portion of the rally, resonated across the board.

Foreign policy is a significant concern as are the impacts of illegal immigration. Many of the folks I talked with and listened to pointed out that Denver declaring itself a sanctuary city, with Governor Polis echoing that assertion, has led to these issues. Some also stated that, if the issue of illegal immigrants committing crimes but NOT being deported continues, it does have a negative impact across the board. As we’ve noted here at Victory Girls, Denver admitted on multiple occasions that the influx of illegal immigrants into the city has overwhelmed their resources and the city finances.
According to the media however, Trump’s rhetoric on this issue is essentially misinformation on multiple levels. Which is funny because even their own reporting admits there’s been an increase in costs and resources while dealing with illegal immigrants.
Denver Health reported a $10 million bump in expenses for “uncompensated care” for migrants in 2023 and UCHealth reported caring for “thousands” of migrants without health insurance in late 2023 through early 2024, but no hospital has been booked full in Colorado with or because of migrant care.
Denver Health may be fine when it comes to beds, but their ER has been flooded with patients, many of whom ARE here illegally. Which has led to such budget woes that there’s a new hospital sales tax on the ballot for November. Denver Health spent nearly $11 million caring for illegal immigrants in 2023, who don’t have insurance.
Republicans and conservatives in Colorado SEE these issues and experience the realities of all of this first-hand. As Congresswoman Harriet Hageman said yesterday, we are all “FED UP” with the Democrats refusal to acknowledge these very real issues and deal with them.
In many other countries, if a crime is committed by someone there illegally, deportation happens IMMEDIATELY. Which is, far too many times, NOT the case here in the United States. People are indeed fed up with these issues being swept under the rug.
Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman, who this author campaigned for during his runs for CO State Treasurer, CO Secretary of State, and his first run in Congress, has shamefully ducked the issue of the illegal gangs of Tren de Aragua Venezualans in his city, yet said this just four days ago on his Facebook page:
The reality is that the concerns about Venezuelan gang activity have been grossly exaggerated. The incidents were limited to several apartment complexes in this city of more than 400,000 residents.”
“Several apartment complexes??!!” Interesting that.
The media, especially the local media, isn’t a fan of President Trump and so they attempted to paint a picture of a crowd of mean, nasty, racist people cheering on ORANGE MAN BAD.

Those are mug shots of the Tren de Aragua gang members, and Aaron knows that.
And here comes the expected fact checks!

I had to laugh when one lady pointed out that Kamala rarely if ever gets fact-checked because it’s impossible to decipher her word salads!

I was there in that ballroom filled with approximately 10,000 people. Around me was a mix of Colorado citizens from all over the state. They were all ages, from babies to folks in their ’90’s, with a diversity of ethnicities represented. They were there to listen to the speakers and hear what President Trump had to say. They were there out of concern for their town, city, state, and country. It was our Republic in action. It was wonderful to see.

After spending most of my adult life in CO, I bailed in 2011 because I could see this coming. Especially the taxes but the other bad stuff too.
I wonder if Mr. Coffman is one of those US Chamber of Commerce Republicans, more interested in lower labor cost via “immigration” by hook or by crook.
Why isn’t anyone commenting on the big issue with Aurora. These illegals had guns. I believe Colorado has some strict gun control laws. The residents of Colorado better protect themselves before it becomes violent. Gun control laws are Jim Crow laws. It’s meant to take power away from a group of people and give power to another. In conjunction with defunding and demoralizing the police force, liberals have allowed criminals to exert their power over the lawful residents, thus the spike in violent crime.
The left here in Colorado, led by our side-saddle governor has been passing restrictive gun laws as fast as the can. 20 yrs ago, this was a wonderful state, but then the gang of 4 ( look it up) figured out how to buy /steal the govt. And it’s been going downhill since. Actively working on the exit plan, hopefully in less than 2 yrs…
