Gavin Newsom is following the science! with his mandates. The science of politics that is. Yesterday, Gavin Newsom, fresh off of his recall victory decided another mandate was necessary. This time it’s those darned kids.

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Friday that California will mandate student vaccines for Covid-19 once federal officials fully approve the immunizations, becoming the first state to declare that requirement, though it likely will not take effect until next school year.

Under the plan, California will add Covid-19 vaccines to its list of immunizations required for school attendance in the first academic term after the Food and Drug Administration approves the shots for students in a given age band, split between grades 7-12 and K-6. The governor’s office estimates that middle- and high-schoolers will need to get vaccinated before the 2022-23 school year starts.

There’s quite a bit to unpack here. First of all, this is a mandate. It’s a requirement/mandate that leaves zero room for any other option. Oh sure, medical and religious exemptions will be considered, even though the rules surrounding those exemptions haven’t been written yet. But this is California. You can damned well bet there will be a strong push to ensure those exemption requests are refused. Secondly, upon research, I could not find anything about any students gaining an exemption if they’ve ALREADY HAD Covid. Third, the flu shot is not mandated in schools for kids K-12. Gee, I wonder why? Hmmm, is it because the flu has essentially disappeared in this country per the CDC? 

Meanwhile, Newsom isn’t even remotely considering the science behind his vaccine mandate. What science you ask? Why the science of multiple studies, such as the ones Senator Rand Paul cited while cleaning Becerra’s clock, that have continually shown that kids are the LOWEST risk for the Covid virus and the variants. There’s a few other things regarding the Science! behind Newsom’s K-12 vaccine mandate that show this is ALL about politics, not reality. 

The two-dose Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is the only one available to those 12 and older. Both the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are only authorized for use with people age 18 and over.

Pfizer’s shots may not be available to younger children until November.

Oh. Well, isn’t that something? Furthermore, the FDA has NOT authorized the shots for those 12 and older, they are still under EUA (Emergency Use Authorization). So, the vaccines are not fully approved for kids, but Gavin Newsom in all of his Science! wisdom is now mandating it for all CA kids. And by all, I mean ALL kids in public AND private schools. 

I most certainly do hope CA parents push back against this egregious mandate! While there are still around 12,000 teachers and staff in LA County alone who haven’t been vaccinated, did Newsom put a full mandate in place on teachers and staff? NOPE. It’s a vax or test mandate. Quite the double standard isn’t it? But you know guys, this is SCIENCE!

Never mind that. Even California’s OWN statistics show how incredibly low the risk is for CA students and the staff they encounter. 

In Los Angeles County — the nation’s largest, with more than 10 million residents — just 1.7% of people tested for the virus have it and daily infections are down by half in the last month, when most kids went back to school.

“These numbers are amazingly low given that 3,000-plus schools are now open countywide,” county Health Director Barbara Ferrer said Thursday.

Gee, it’s almost as if she wishes the numbers of those infected with Covid were much higher. But again, while Newsom is parroting his political version of Science! the stats show something very different.

Here’s something else. Newsom is pushing all three vaccines on all CA kids. That includes the J & J vaccine, which has already been paused once due to issues with causing blood clots. Now the EU version of the CDC has identified two MORE issues with the J & J vaccine. One is a bleeding disorder that won’t allow blood to clot, the other involves deep vein blood clots.

During a Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee meeting, the agency said it found a possible link between venous thromboembolism (VTE) and the J&J vaccine.

“VTE is a condition in which a blood clot forms in a deep vein, usually in a leg, arm or groin, and may travel to the lungs causing a blockage of the blood supply, with possible life-threatening consequences,” the agency wrote in its meeting highlights.

Wanna bet that Gavin Newsom will ignore that Science? 

By the way, Newsom, while blathering about Science! regarding mandating the vaccines for kids, is also NOT mandating the vaccines for CA prison guards. Could it be, because that union gave him a boatload of money during the recall campaign?

All California kids will, in the very near future, be one massive test subject for the Covid vaccines. Meanwhile, because Newsom follows the Science!, K-12 students STILL have to wear masks in schools.
