The cry from the streets of Cuba is for “LIBERTAD” – liberty. Marchers are holding American flags (much to the consternation of the left) and demanding freedom.
While government officials from the Biden administration dithered and cowered last night as to what their response should be, others – especially those like Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz – were forceful and hopeful in their statements regarding these demonstrations.
The Cuban people have fought against the tyranny of the Communist regime for decades, and have taken to the streets…

While world events never take a weekend off, it is clear that Joe Biden does. After the weak and wimpy comments from the State Department yesterday, Team Biden finally woke up on Monday morning and realized that they should probably put out some kind of statement.
We stand with the Cuban people and their clarion call for freedom and relief from the tragic grip of the pandemic and from the decades of repression and economic suffering to which they have been subjected by Cuba’s authoritarian regime. The Cuban people are bravely asserting fundamental and universal rights. Those rights, including the right of peaceful protest and the right to freely determine their own future, must be respected. The United States calls on the Cuban regime to hear their people and serve their needs at this vital moment rather than enriching themselves.”
Well, there is certainly a lot to pick apart in this statement. We can start with Senator Rubio’s first comment.

Second, I don’t think that the Cuban regime is going to respect the right of “peaceful protest.” There are plenty of reports coming out via social media that the communist overlords are determined to repress these demonstrations with violence.

The communists are running scared. There are reports now out of Venezuela that Maduro is panicking and attempting to seize Juan Guaido. If the communists fall in Cuba, it could be the start of a domino effect across Central and South America – and they know it. This is why it is so, so important that the Biden White House must be more forceful in its statements, instead of this half-baked “please respect the protestors” commentary. Biden, as we all know, is a “return to the status quo” kind of leader. His team does NOT want a revolution of freedom within Cuba right now, because they might have to actually give moral support to it, unlike the ass-kissing that Barack Obama gave to Raul Castro. Team Biden wants to make America over to be MORE like the centralized power of Cuba, not watch the Cuban people reject their overlords in real time on social media!
So, where are the reliable socialist voices of the Democrat party? Where is Bernie Sanders? Where is the Squad? Surely they have something to say! Maybe not anything as hilariously hypocritical as their favorite refrain during Republican administrations that “dissent is patriotic,” but you would think they would at least offer a comment about the right of Cubans to freely protest. Maybe?
Nope.
Fox News has emailed Reps. Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib and Sen. Bernie Sanders and has yet to receive a response from any of them. As of early Monday, none have even mentioned the protest on social media.”
I can verify that as of Monday afternoon, this was still true. After checking AOC’s personal and Congressional Twitter accounts, Omar’s personal and Congressional Twitter accounts, Tlaib’s personal and Congressional Twitter accounts, and Bernie’s personal and Congressional Twitter accounts, there is complete radio silence in regards to Cuba. In fact, only AOC’s personal account and Tlaib’s personal account have tweets from the last 24 hours – AOC is mad at Lauren Boebert for mentioning her “ill grandparent” on Twitter (you know, the one that AOC won’t allow to get money to fix her roof), and Tlaib is bitching about Israel (very on-brand for her). We all know that Bernie loves him some Castro regime, so why isn’t he speaking up to tell the people of Cuba that they really have it awesomely great under communism, hmmmm?
Instead, we get radio silence. Telling, isn’t it?
The fight is not over in Cuba. The fight for freedom has barely begun in Cuba. Dare we to hope, that after over 60 years of a communist dictatorship sitting just off American shores, Cuba might finally gain its own freedom? If the videos of people marching in the streets chanting “LIBERTAD” doesn’t stir your heart, please check your pulse. You’re either dead, or you are Bernie Sanders and his backup singers, the Squad.

I’m feeling about this Cuber thing much like i did during the fall of the Soviet Union. BTW, “Cuber” is the correct pronunciation, just ask Jack and Ted Kennedy…oh, wait…
I fully and 100% emotionally and physically and in every other way support the Cuban people in their, hopefully, successful revolt against communist tyranny.
I wait to see if Cuban soldiers will actually shoot their fellow citizens…maybe not, we’ll see.
