Washington Nationals Go To The White House

The Washington Nationals, after one of the crazier World Series that I’ve ever seen (what home field advantage???), visited the White House today.

Now, the media really really really wanted the narrative of “sports teams don’t go to the White House under Trump” to continue. They even covered with gushing glee the fact that pitcher Sean Doolittle was opting out of going.

“There’s a lot of things, policies that I disagree with, but at the end of the day, it has more to do with the divisive rhetoric and the enabling of conspiracy theories and widening the divide in this country,” Doolittle said in an interview Friday with The Washington Post.

“At the end of the day, as much as I wanted to be there with my teammates and share that experience with my teammates, I can’t do it,” Doolittle told the Post. “I just can’t do it.”

You know what? Fine. If you can’t enjoy the moment, then don’t wreck it for the rest of the team. I can respect that decision. Several other Nationals didn’t go, either, but Doolittle was the most vocal.

So the Washington Nationals arrived at the White House, with the Marine Band playing “Baby Shark” to welcome them while the players waved to the crowd.

Then the real fun began, as President Trump started talking about the Washington Nationals and their improbable run to the championship, from beating the Milwaukee Brewers in a single game wild card playoff game, and then advancing each time until they finally beat the Houston Astros, on the road, in Houston.

Everyone was having a good time, and the president was inviting players to come and speak to the crowd. And one of the players he called up to speak was catcher Kurt Suzuki – who simultaneously blew President Trump’s mind, and broke Twitter, by putting on a MAGA hat in front of the crowd.

When Trump introduced Suzuki, the catcher pulled out his red hat and thanked the president for inviting them.”

“I love you all,” Suzuki told the crowd of Nationals fans.”

Trump’s jaw dropped when Suzuki put on the hat. The president hugged him and told the crowd, “I love him.”

“What a job he did?” Trump said, adding, “I didn’t know that was gonna happen.”

Never mind that everyone is having fun, the president is being both hospitable and entertaining – Kurt Suzuki must be canceled!!! All you have to do is look at the Twitter mentions. It’s a genuine bona fide freak out over HOW DARE AN ASIAN MAN PUT ON A MAGA HAT and HOW DARE THE NATIONALS ACTUALLY BEHAVE THEMSELVES AT THE WHITE HOUSE and HOW DARE THE WASHINGTON NATIONALS ACTUALLY ENJOY THIS???

Why must everything be forced to be political?

Must everything be ORANGE MAN BAD? Did anyone truthfully object or protest when the Golden State Warriors snubbed Trump in favor of Obama? I don’t remember any demands to “cancel” them.

Kurt Suzuki put on a hat that supports the current president while at the White House. The Washington Nationals dared to enjoy their White House visit.

If we can’t simply celebrate achievement without trying to “cancel” people whom we disagree with politically, then we’re just doomed as a society.

Doolittle (it’s not a theory, there really is a conspiracy!), while being delusional himself, at least as you point out, he didn’t ruin it for everyone else.. as to twitter, they’re just unhappy little trolls, and since they’re miserable, they want everyone else to be miserable, and if they aren’t, they WILL be attacked! This truly is what the left in this country has become, and why they MUST be defeated in 2020..
