The launch of NASA’s unmanned rocket, Antares, turned deadly after the rocket exploded upon takeoff in Virginia. The rocket was scheduled to launch yesterday, but had to be moved to this evening after a sailboat was spotted in the 1,400 foot “danger zone” off the Virginia shoreline. The rocket was supposed to carry cargo spacecraft and supplies to the International Space Station.
Footage of the explosion is already online. Mission control amazingly remained calm and professional.
NASA is saying that, thankfully, no one was injured in the explosion.

Prior to the explosion, the launch team did not detect any problems with the rocket. NASA has stated that there is significant property and vehicle damage, although the most important thing is obviously that no one was injured or killed.
