USA Today Columnist: “I Care More Now Because I Am A Democrat”

Kurt Bardella, Opinion columnist at USA Today wrote his truth and claims he cares more about things than he used to. Why? Because he is no longer a Republican, he is now a Democrat.

My first year as a Democrat has given me an appreciation of the gulf between the world views of Republicans and Democrats. Even how we digest and process information is so different. –Kurt Bardella

Yes, you ingest the information after it is spoon-fed to you and you vomit it up all over the place at others who disagree and demand they comply:

Carry on.

Shocking as it may be to learn, Republicans do not sit around and talk about the environment. As a Democrat, I feel like this topic is a consistent focal point of social conversations. In fact, I’ve found the same thing to be true about gun-law reform, racial inequality, social injustice and sexism.-Kurt Bardella

You can read the whole commentary here. Actually, Kurt, we do think about all of the aspects impacting our country today that you claimed to have cared less about as a Republican. Here’s our two cents on each in a few words.

The Environment

We DO talk about the environment and we do care about the consequences for future generations. We just do not believe in the taxation of hard-working individuals for programs that hold little benefit to our citizens for the sake of appearances. We look at our politicians and their environmental initiatives and sometimes want to laugh. Why? Because Democrat clowns, for example, from the state I live in, (hello, Jay Inslee) are all about saving the Orcas. Don’t get us wrong, we love the Orcas here in Washington but people in our cities are getting stabbed by heroin needles belonging to homeless drug addicts. We have encampments of mentally-unstable, drug-addled men next to our schools who, in a stupor, wander in on the school grounds in the middle of the day and take pictures of young women with (stolen) Polaroid cameras (true story). As a result to easy accessibility, some of our kids are happily partaking of the gateway drug called marijuana because the state of Washington has “the best weed”. Talk about a toxic environment!

Gun-law reform

We DO discuss gun-law reform. We discuss it with regard to its impact on our rights to protect and defend ourselves as citizens of this great country. We discuss it with regard to our freedoms as Americans. We are not a bunch of gun-toting rednecks who you like to call “bitter clingers”. We think about what would happen in a scenario such as an armed criminal breaking into our homes and hurting our loved ones. We think about what a world would be like with laws that do not protect its law-abiding citizens. Again, criminals are just that because they do not follow the laws of the land. Criminals know how to circumvent the system. No amount of restriction or “reform”, as you like to call it, is going to prevent that.

Racial Inequality. Social Injustice and Sexism

We DO talk racial inequality, social injustice and sexism. We’ve seen it all unfold before our very eyes in our daily lives and in our workplaces. However, we do not choose to make it a topic at Christmas dinner because regardless of political viewpoints, we love our families and we want to enjoy their company. We see beyond our differences politically and socially and we celebrate them or we just choose to keep the peace. We don’t believe in pointing out differences to the point of offense. An African-American, Asian or Mexican immigrant in our workplace is celebrated. Smart women our world are respected. And while some of us may not agree with lifestyle choices of the LGBT community, we love them just the same. We are not about victimhood but about pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps and figuring out legitimate ways to not be victims of our circumstances. We’re not looking for reasons to cry foul and we feel some of these ridiculous claims of racial inequality, social injustice and sexism raised on behalf of Democrats brings illegitimacy and an uphill battle for individuals truly having that struggle.

“I’ll tell you, being a Democrat is a heck of a lot more emotionally exhausting than being a Republican was, because I care about a lot more things than I used to.”-Kurt Bardella

(Sigh). The Democrats have sooo much resting on their shoulders in the way of social responsibility when compared to us Republicans of today who are “blissfully unaware”. You know why it’s exhausting? Because you all have made it this way, guys. Instead of “live and let live”, you have made it a point to fire back at people who do not follow your train of thought with insults to them, their families and even (the lowest of blows), their children! You choose to believe journalists, politicians and celebrities alike who preach but don’t live the way you think people should live or the way they preach that people should live. These politicians, celebrities (and some journalists) fly around in private jets to events that use thousands of dollars of jet fuel for one trip and talk about climate change. They have walls around their homes to keep the unwanted out while telling us we need to let illegal caravans in. They travel with armed security. They’re all about “laws” but are completely fine with brutalizing, demoralizing and even criminalizing our law enforcement officers and our military service members when they are trying to protect us to enforce these laws. They advocate for human rights but are unable to see human life in its simplest of forms and defend a life that cannot yet defend him or herself. You really wonder why being a Democrat is so exhausting? How EVER do you keep up with such hypocrisy and double standards?

Being a Democrat these days is so tiresome. Because of their moral compass, they are much more mentally fatigued than us Republicans. They carry the weight of the world upon their shoulders! Ask Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who apparently needs a vacation. Yep, go with it if it makes you feel good, Democrats…you guys all CARE sooooo much more than we ever could!

Good post Lisa! But the only “Moral Compass” that leftists have is one very much like Captain Jack Sparrow has in Pirates of the Caribbean… It points only to what they want most…

Toddler tantrums are such a good way to impress and change the minds of others, especially when combined with actual assault.

Republicans do not sit around and talk about the environment.
That’s primarily because we have these things called “lives“. It means we have *more* to talk about, but *less* time to do so, than your average 20-hour-a-week hipster, or the 0-hours-per-week-except-when-Soros-funds-a-protest ones.

We’ve seen it all unfold before our very eyes
But seldom in the fashion which the SJZs mean. Often reverse of it.

being a Democrat is a heck of a lot more emotionally exhausting than being a Republican was, because I care about a lot more things than I used to
No, it’s because you think you can actually change the world.
I care, to some extent. But I also know that I’m not going to “eliminate poverty” or “solve world hunger” or “stop the carnage”. Where I can intersect with those things and actually do something for someone I do. Otherwise it’s enough to just get through my day.
    That’s not callous, it’s realistic.

How EVER do you keep up with such hypocrisy and double standards?
    Heh.

Because of their moral compass, they are much more mentally fatigued than us Republicans.
Well, yeah, it’s much more energy expended when your compass points every which way. When it reliably points north, you can do things like dogleg around impassable obstructions (like those I mentioned above).

Excellent post, Lisa. Very little to add. 🙂

They care more. They think less. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez is emblematic of the movement. She thinks she is more compassionate, because she’s too busy to question what she believes. Fortunately for her and those of her ilk, there are millions of mindless minions who blindly follow, because they are too busy “caring” to consider the impracticality of their convictions.

  • Laura K says:

When I was a Democrat years ago, I thought less, read less, knew less. As a republican, I have to think more, read more, investigate the truth more, yes, even worry more because I see our country’s foundation being torn down brick by brick by people who “feel” more, but think less. Being a Democrat was blissful ignorance.

It takes a different way of processing information to be able to somehow believe at the exact same time that:

-we need a carbon tax because the higher costs WILL get companies to change their behavior and emit less CO2

    and

-The minimum wage should be raised to $15 and the higher costs WON’T get companies to change their behavior and hire less workers.

Great post- exactly how I feel

It appears Kurt’s lobotomy was an unqualified success.

  • Diggs says:

It’s a bit funny, a bit scary, and a bit childish to believe that being a Democrat, one automatically knows more. But that is exactly what I’ve found to be true in every single interaction I’ve had with a Democrat. Democrats want to tell me they know more about terrorism, islam, Arabs and the Middle East even after I tell them that I’ve done multiple adivisory tours in the middle east, and since 2003, multiple combat tours as well. Because….well, because they are Democrats, so they MUST know more. They’ve never been to the Middle East, don’t personally know a single Arab, and have never lived with people who have spent their entire life under sharia. But they believe they know more because they care more. That’s the measure for Democrats in the end. It has to be true that they KNOW more because it’s true that they CARE more. If only us non-Democrats knew what they knew, we’d care more. It’s moronic circular logic, but it’s all they have to show their elite superiority.

Democrats are hilarious. Their self delusion and lack of self awareness is awesome to behold.

They’re just envious because they never bothered to HAVE children.

I left WA for the Phoenix 7 months ago and don’t miss it a bit*. It’s amazing. . . . .the roads and streets are clean and well-maintained, things aren’t outrageously expensive, I can use (and reuse! and recycle!) plastic bags all I want, and I don’t even notice a Government constantly looking over my shoulder.

Sadly, I think a lot of Washingtonians are also moving down here who don’t share my politics and will probably turn the place into San Francisco Southwest, like they did to Seattle back in the 1990s (cf., Kyrsten Sinema).

    * Well, I do miss a lot of people and ocean and mountains and rain forests and Pagliacci pizza and stuff.

I’m not sure it’s worth even responding to this article. He’s obviously lying and trying to pander to his new employers. So he trots out all the worst stereotypes and claims his direct experience proves that they’re true – Republics really are shallow, racist, immoral, ignorant and self centered – every single one of them.

Somehow he never realized that until he became a Democrat. He didn’t even realize that he’s Asian FGS!

  • Doug says:

Who cares??????????? There’s and old proverb, If your not a “D” by the time your 20, you have no heart. If your not a “R” by the time your 40 you have no brains” and I’d add if your not a Libertarion by 50 there’s no hope for you.
