This morning a factory in France, operated by Air Products & Chemicals headquartered in Allentown, PA was attacked.
The attack occurred at approximately 9:50 a.m. local time in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, northwest of the Alpine city of Grenoble, according to Le Dauphine newspaper. The newspaper reported that two men dressed as deliverymen arrived at the plant, and that one walked into the main office, declared he was a member of ISIS and beheaded someone there. The terrorists reportedly left the severed head hanging from a fence, and set off several gas canisters at the plant.
The terrorists also left two black flags depicting ISIS hanging near the body of the man they killed, and at least two others were injured during the attack on the plant. Lizzie Deardon and John Lichfield of the Independent UK report on the arrest of one suspect:
A man named as Yassin Salhi, aged 35 and from Saint-Priest, near Lyon, was detained by a firefighter at the scene and has been arrested.
Authorities said he had previously been under security service surveillance after fears he had been radicalised and had links to extremists.
Francoise Hollande, President of France, issued the following statement from Brussels where he was attending the EU Summit.
“The attack was of a terrorist nature since a body was discovered, decapitated and with inscriptions,”
“There is emotion but emotion cannot be the only response. There must also be action, prevention, dissuasion,” the President added.
“It is vital to further our values, to never to give in and never, whatever the circumstances, create unnecessary division or intolerable suspicion.
“We will ensure that the French people are protected and eradicate the groups or individuals responsible for these acts.”
While the citizens and authorities in France take a deep breath and work to recover from this morning’s horrific attack, it must be noted that that wasn’t the only attack that took place. Tunisia and Kuwait are also reeling from terrorist attacks.
Once again, attackers have struck a tourist destination in Tunisia. Two gunmen opened fire at a beach resort in the city of Sousse, killing at least 27 people, according to Sky News. Early reports indicate most of the victims were British and German, the Associated Press reported. According to the country’s interior ministry, one of the gunmen was killed, while another is still on the loose. It’s not yet known how many of those killed in the attack are foreigners, said the AP, but “during the holy month of Ramadan, those on the beach tend to be tourists.”
A mosque in Kuwait was bombed during Friday prayers leaving worshippers injured and killed. ISIS has claimed responsibility for what they are calling a suicide bombing at the Al-Sadiq mosque. Their “reasoning” is because of the mosque’s Shiite affiliation.
Ramadan started two days ago. Today the world wakes up to these images:
As France, Tunisia, and Kuwait work to pick up the pieces and the families of those killed and injured grieve and try to recover, the news breaks that the militant Islamist ISIS group Al-Shabab has killed 30 at a military base in Somalia.
PM: I am sickened by the attacks in Tunisia, France and Kuwait. Our countries stand together in combatting the horrors of terrorism.

So many killings today by the cutting edge of the #religionofpeace
Some may think it is less of a religion and more a pathology?— David Vance (@DVATW) June 26, 2015
Somehow #ReligionOfPeace doesn’t have that “peaceful” ring to it when you take a good hard look at the events around the world today. Yet isn’t Ramadan supposed to be a peaceful month of fasting and prayers? According to the leader of Liberia it is:
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has called on all Muslims in Liberia to observe the holy month of Ramadan with a sense of commitment to the faith of Islam, bearing in mind love for country at all times. “Islam, as a religion of “peace” embodies love for fellow humankind,” she said.
Sadly, for those injured and killed today ISIS isn’t interested in adhering to that memo or any other memo of peace. ISIS is all about evil and violence and they would rather that Ramadan become a “month of disaster.” Unfortunately they are off to a very good start. If we don’t wake up to that reality, innocents the world over will continue to pay the price for our willful blindness.
Well thank God they weren’t confederate flags or we’d really be in trouble. It’s also a good thing that mass attacks like that one “don’t happen in other advanced countries”……. wait a minute…
Ramadamn is more like it. At this point I don’t care about the violence within the ummah because those people evidently don’t know any better and all follow the “religion of peace”. The France thing bothers me more, but then I realize it too has allowed too many Koranists into its country for no good reason.
I don’t like being cynical, but I just can’t help it anymore. When the West imports the seeds of destruction (either as immigrants or allowing an alien totalitarian, supremacist and imperialist philosophy to flourish) their bitter fruit eventually will spring forth.
