We’ve spent eight long years enduring disrespect of our veterans and active military. Tomorrow, hopefully that will change. And to help usher in the 45th President of the United States, country music star Toby Keith, performing at the Make America Great Again Welcome Celebration, belted out inspirational renditions of many of his hits. Several of his songs were sung specifically to honor our armed forces, many of whom were in attendance. Watch:

I don’t know about you, but his obvious reverence for our military and for America brought tears to my eyes. It’s patriotism like his that’s what’s needed to help heal our divided nation. Thank you, Toby Keith. You’re a fearless patriot. And cheers to you from my Red Solo Cup.

Rusty Shackleford says: One thing threw me when I was watching the beginning of the celebration—that the Trumps appeared at the Lincoln Memorial to the Stones’ “Heart Of Stone!” I would’ve expected “Start Me Up,” personally. Oh well, you can’t always get what you want, I guess….oh wait a sec, they played that….
This morning I will make it a point to listen to the song the Hollies wrote about Obama, “King Midas In Reverse” and then I will listen to the Chambers Brothers’ song that was written for Inauguration Day 2017, “Time Has Come Today.”
Funny thing is, both of these songs were written in 1967—-amazing how prescient they were! 😉
