After three decades, liberal media outlet, Salon, is calling it quits, citing financial reasons. I know, say it isn’t so. And, yes, I also know. Three decades are too many decades.
It’s difficult to find the right words for the end of something that has meant so much to so many people. Salon was never just a website. It was an idea about what journalism could be, born at a moment when the internet was still a largely unexplored frontier.”-Salon
Journalism? Pioneers of digital journalism, according the The New York Times
I mean, with titles like these…
Human-on-Dolphin Sex Is Not Really That Weird, Tracy Clark-Flory, June 2014
No. Just no. And, what in the actual eff?! It is THAT weird. And, poor dolphin. There was also this:
White Men Must Be Stopped: The Very Future Of Mankind Depends On It, Frank Joyce, December, 2015.
In fact, white guys possessed a “toxic, cowardly masculinity” that was “killing us”, according to Salon’s Chauncey DeVega.
Our journalism examined power and politics, questioned assumptions, surfaced stories that deserved attention and made room for perspectives that were too often overlooked.”-Salon
Like the overlooked perspective of a pedophile who wrote an essay for Salon in the effort to normalize pedophilia?
Salon will forever be remembered as the outlet that tried to normalize pedophilia.
In 2015, they published an article titled "I'm a pedophile, not a monster." In one passage, author and self-proclaimed good person Todd Nickerson proudly recounted a story in which he'd resisted… https://t.co/aTRMa2FwrJ pic.twitter.com/3Iym2y05s1

We have our ver own greatest hits of all time from Salon here:
James Talerico Is Going to Destroy GOP Christians-Darleen Click
We won’t be. But, he might destroy Texas.
Antifa Is A Work Of Fiction-(Yours Truly)
The above is a journalistic analysis by Salon of Antifa not as a terrorist faction but as a mere ideology.
They spun other ideas. Like how Venezuela was only a crime scene after Trump stepped in. That bombing a totalitarian, Muslim country with nukes was a slip into totalitarianism.
But, Salon was so much more. The “journalists” did not only write about evil, heterosexual, white men or women who pleasure themselves on sea creatures or pedophilia or incest (yes, they wrote about that, too). They wrote about other real-world issues. Like, how babies are white supremacy. And, how abortion is the best thing in the world. It, like, makes people happy.

Salon‘s (AHEM) hard-hitting brand of “journalisming” called anyone who was not them, “dumb”, especially Republicans and Christians. They once hoped the Boston Marathon bomber was a white dude in 2013. (He wasn’t, and he ended up on the cover of Rolling Stone.) They called Republicans the “death wish party” during COVID. And, how can we forget the musings of Mandy Marcotte? Whatever would be do without her mean-girl,smug takes on Melania Trump, Erika Kirk or Usha Vance? Journalism at its finest.
We'll miss you, Salon.
Well. Laughing at you. https://t.co/VW25aTs1mC— Amy 🇺🇸 (@amy_likes_owls) November 6, 2026
No one writer was quite like Salon’s pinup girl, Amanda Marcotte, who could use the descriptors hateful bigot, fascist, totalitarian, MAGA, white, Hitler, Christian, far-right, racist all in one penned sentence. She had sheer talent, let me tell ya. Blame the Christians because she has family issues with her Christian family in Texas, who she stopped speaking with. And, blame white men for all of that ails this world. She was a great part of what made Salon so special. And now, Amanda Marcotte is looking for work.
It's true. Salon is closing its doors.
I'm scared, but I have plans, and it's just a matter of implementing them.

Should we hire her? She would be nothing, after all, without her loyal readers…
We also want to thank our readers. You came to Salon for the journalism, the dialogue, the essays, the criticism, the unexpected discoveries and the sense that there was a place on the internet where ideas mattered.”-Salon
Far-fetched ideas. Bat-guano-crazy ideas. Ideas that largely fanned the flames of the culture war we have today. Ideas that glorified pedophiles but suggested radio silence with elderly family members who voted for Trump as “crucial self-care“. Ideas that encouraged violence toward the unvaccinated.
Salon writers, and faithful readers alike, will look back on a legacy of “journalism” and “community”. They will pat themselves on the back for a job well-done. Stoking hate and division, name-calling advocating for pedos and deviants, emasculating men, orgasming over socialism and child sacrifice. 31 years is a long time to be that miserable.
I would say, I came to Salon and experienced some unexpected discoveries myself. For one, I never thought “journalists” to be as bigoted and biased and angry as these individuals but alas, they are. Some of them have even made it to the ranks of our national news outlets (Jake Tapper). The unexpected discoveries were plentiful in the sheer tripe ingested. I literally felt I lost brain cells. So, thanks for that, Salon. Our only saving grace whilst scanning the articles was to treat them with a sense of humor because most of them were absolutely ludicrous.
We would tell them to burn in eternal hell but I think the writers of Salon may enjoy that one too much, so we’ll leave it at this. Bless your little black hearts, Salon. We’ll be praying for you all. In fact, may GOD bless you and, oh yeah, may GOD Bless America, too.
Take that, you TDS-laden fascists.
