Salon Panic: More Americans See Diversity As A Threat

Salon loves to fan those flames and “news fellow”, Marin Scotten has arrived to the party. A “news fellow” from Canada herself, points out how she comes to this conclusion.

Hint: it’s from a CNN poll. Young Marin, a NYU/Toronto Metropolitan University journalism (cough) grad from 2021, now living in Brooklyn, (shocker, I know), wants Americans to know how much we suck:

A new CNN poll has found that a third of Americans believe diversity is a threat to the nation’s culture, a number that’s tripled since 2019.

In a similar poll conducted five years ago, 11% of respondents said diversity was “threatening,” compared to 33% who say the same today. Two-thirds of Americans said diversity enriches American culture, which is down from 82% in 2019. Specifically, survey takers were asked: ‘Overall, do you think having an increasing number of people of many different races, ethnic groups, and nationalities in the U.S. is mostly (threatening) or mostly (enriching) American culture?’

The survey results come amid a volatile political environment in which Republican nominee Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, have taken an increasingly nativist and anti-immigration stance in the final weeks of their campaign.”-Marin Scotten, Salon

Flame-thrower, “news fellow”, young, Marin Scotten uses Trump’s rally quote as an example of this uptick in the “irrational” fear of “diversity” held by Americans:

They’re coming from the Congo. They’re coming from Africa. They’re coming from the Middle East. They’re coming from all over the world- Asia. What’s happening to our country is we’re just destroying the fabric of life in our country. We’re not going to take it any longer. You got to get rid of these people. Give me a shot.”-Donald Trump

What Scotten left out? They’re coming in illegally. Our current system is allowing it under the guise of building a more “diverse” population. Our infrastructure in our cities is buckling to support this and people of all ethnic backgrounds are suffering because of this overload. If anyone is opposed to this concept of illegal immigration, it’s obvious that we are opposed to diversity, in the eyes of the Uber-liberals of the land. Which, then makes Americans racist, jingoistic bigots of the most hated kind. Take it from the 20-something-year-old Canadian who is a “news fellow”.

But, what the hell does this chick care? If it gets really bad, she go wheels-up out of Brooklyn and back to Canada.

Immigration has been a key issue for both presidential candidates. Some 77% of Americans believe the U.S.-Mexico border is experiencing an ongoing crisis and 55% wish to see less immigration overall, according to a recent Gallup poll. That comes despite the number of people crossing the border having plunged ‘significantly’ in recent months.”-Marin Scotten, Salon

Of course the crossings plunged. It’s an election year. Can’t have havoc at the border when the Democrats are trying to get elected for another four disastrous years. You see, Kamala Harris is actually doing something, as Scotten’s story spins. Scotten even backs this up with a quote:

We know our immigration system is broken and we know what it takes to fix it: comprehensive reform. That includes strong border security and an earned pathway to citizenship.”-Kamala Harris

I can see it now: KAMALA:Comprehensive reform is reform that is comprehensible that everyone can comprehend. Holistic. Intersectional. (Deep sigh and a hair flip) Comprehensible. You see, I was once a middle-class kid…

US: Head: Desk. Face: Palm.

This CNN poll, according to Marin Scotten, is shake-in-your-boots scary, though. Americans are afraid of diversity. Spoken like a true, virtue-signaling, young girl. You know who are truly afraid of diversity? The white people, the Chardonnay moms who will probably buy Kamala Harris’ cookbook when it’s published, living in your upper-middle-class white neighborhoods voting for Harris/Walz. The wealthy Democrats living on private islands and in luxury condos and brownstones in cities who send their kids to private, white-kid schools. This is why they live where immigrants cannot take over their streets and knock on their doors begging for food. They can’t be bothered. Let the other working-class peons feel this pain.

In the new CNN survey, 49% of respondents said they trust Trump over Harris to do a better job on immigration, compared to 35% who said the same of Harris.”-Marin Scotten, Salon

Well, I’ll be a monkey’s uncle! Ya think?!

As a once young, liberal who majored in journalism and believed everything that was spoon-fed to me by my professors, I was also clueless until the real world smacked me solid upside the head. This young grasshopper still has a lot to learn. Marin Scotten said herself that two-thirds of Americans said diversity enriches American culture, which is down from 82% in 2019. Who was president in 2019? And, if border crossings are at the lowest level they have been since September of 2020, here’s more food for thought: who, again, was the sitting president in 2020?

If “Salon fellow”, Marin Scotten is trying to stir up enough panic to drum up votes for Kamala Harris to roll into The White House in November, it seems as though this “news fellow” has inadvertently argued for the exact opposite. Loyal Salon readers may not think so and will continue to conflate illegal border crossings with enriching the “diversity” of our American fabric all while ignoring the unfairness it poses to individuals trying to immigrate legally and existing American citizens. They will continue to do this until they come into contact with reality and even then, some may still keep their blinders on.

To most of us Americans living in the real world, diversity is not the threat, willful ignorance is.

    Thank you.

“Diversity” is yet another word that originally referred to a variety of opinions and approaches in the workplace, which Leftists have redefined (but leaving one thinking of the original definition) sneakily as quotas for more minorities in the work place. “DEI” sounds innocent, but is in fact destructive, as many have observed.

Similarly, the law establishing Affirmative Action is emphatic that merit must still be the deciding factor in hiring, promotions, . . . . (Strictly, AA is about recruiting of minorities and women in places where they are “under represented” and making the workplace environment friendlier to them.) So, AA has been so abused by some universities that most of us would conclude it was destructive as conceived.
