Rep. John Conyers Announces Immediate Retirement After New Claims Of Sexual Harassment Surface [VIDEO]
Today, Representative John Conyers, the Democrat from Michigan backtracked. Instead of waiting out the storm of sexual harassment allegations and continuing to “serve,” he announced his immediate retirement from office.
Originally Conyers had announced he was going to continue to serve out his term. As Deanna wrote here, his attempt at the Hillary excuse of ‘vast right wing conspiracy’ failed miserably. Needless to say, his wife’s weird defense of him didn’t help either!
Yet, at the start of this week, Conyers had no intention of retiring. What changed? I’d say this bit of news regarding former staffer Elisa Grubbs changed things considerably.
“Rep. Conyers slid his hand up my skirt and rubbed my thighs while I was sitting next to him in the front row of a church,” Grubbs said. “I was startled and sprang to my feet and exclaimed, ‘He just ran his hand up my thigh!’ Other staffers witnessed the event.”
She also said that she saw Conyers touching and stroking the legs and buttocks of Brown and other female staffers on “multiple occasions.”
Grubbs said witnessing such harassment “was a regular part of life while working in the office of Rep. Conyers.”
Wow.

Yeah, that’s pretty damned ballsy of him. And just gross.
Given that this staffer was a cousin to another staffer who is ALSO an accuser, no wonder Conyers decided that immediate retirement was the way to go. Yet, as you heard above, Conyers didn’t just announce his immediate retirement, he threw in an endorsement as well.
“My legacy can’t be compromised or diminished in any way by what we’re going through now. This too shall pass,” said Conyers on a local Michigan radio station Tuesday morning.
He added, “I want you to know that my legacy will continue through my children. I have a great family here and especially in my oldest boy, John Conyers III who incidentally I endorsed to replace me in my seat in Congress.”
Legacy??!!! Hah! Don’t make me laugh. As for his son getting to step into his seat? Did Conyers forget about his nephew Ian?
This is my favorite part of the Conyers retiring story. https://t.co/s3yVqgnx1X pic.twitter.com/DR51gTdvLv

Needless to say, it’s really not up to Conyers to decide who steps into his seat. In fact, it takes an ELECTION rather than an appointment or endorsement. But sure sounds like he’s definitely pushing for his son over his nephew! I bet the family Christmas will be VERY interesting this year!
So here’s a question:
Rep. John Conyers announces retirement, endorses son to run for seat. Wonder why he isn’t endorsing his wife? Oh ya… https://t.co/JsBFIlrjKW

Welp!
Conyers wife spent 37 months in prison for bribery https://t.co/RurK7VdWng

So much for that idea!
Oh, but wait! There’s a grandson of Conyers’ brother who might run?
Besides his son, the grandson of the congressman’s brother also reportedly plans to run for his seat.

This is something to consider:
Wait, so let me get this straight:
Rep. John Conyers is forced to retire because he used his constituents' money to pay off sexual assault accusers & now he wants to replace himself with another apple from the disgraced Conyers tree?
Hell to the no.#TuesdayThoughts

Yeah, pretty much. Then again, the hypocrisy of Conyers’ retirement and endorsement pronouncement is well… YUUGE!
Dems: Inheriting an estate is unfair
Also Dems: Inheriting a Congressional seat is awesome https://t.co/aPfSEa9AbZ

Gosh, those Democrats are something else, aren’t they??!!
Needless to say, Governor Rick Snyder will have to call a special election to fill Conyers’ seat. Given that there are already three “candidates” from Conyers’ family supposedly jockeying for that position, I’d suggest buying popcorn in bulk!
“Retirement”? I call B.S.
Let’s call it what it is – he resigned.
Yes, but he called it retirement so… And either way, he ran out the door while keeping his pension …basically hosing the taxpayers still.
When politics IS the family business, the district suffers. In California, my state assemblyman, Ian Calderon, is the fourth family member to be my (ahem) representative. His father, Charles, spent 20 years as the elected rep in the assembly and senate. Ian’s uncles, Ron and Tom Calderon, also spent time “representing” the people. Ron is in the middle of a 42-month stay at a Federal pen for corruption. Uncle Tom got a year in prison after pleading guilty for money laundering Ron’s bribes. Tom got the better of it, spending half his sentence under house arrest.
Ian is running the “family business” in the same manner as his elders. Unapproachable, keeping everyone at arm’s length. You’ll never receive a response from himself or staffer on any issue or question. Ron and Tom did the same thing, you never knew what they were up to.
This whole family shows what happens when leftists inbreed… there’s so many comments, about him, his wife, and other family members that want the seat, so I’ll keep it short, and just leave this here…
