Rape Culture: Victim Says Hillary Clinton “Took Me Through Hell”

Hillary Rodham Clinton

Audio of what has now been dubbed “The Hillary Tapes” have gone viral, causing understandable outrage across the nation. In the tapes, Hillary Clinton talks about a legal case from her time as a public defender, where she defended the rapist of a 12-year-old girl, and laughs as she remembers how she exploited loopholes and discredited the victim in order to get him off on a light sentence. It was Clinton’s job as a public defender to defend the man, yes — but it is chilling to hear her not only speak cavalierly, but laugh, about a case that was a shocking miscarriage of justice, and further destroyed a child’s life by Hillary’s own doing. Who would be proud of that? What kind of person would laugh and cheerfully recall the time they smeared a 12-year-old rape victim? Certainly not the crusader for women and families that Hillary Clinton makes herself out to be.

Now, the victim in this case is speaking out, in an exclusive at the Daily Beast.

“Hillary Clinton took me through Hell,” the victim said. The Daily Beast agreed to withhold her name out of concern for her privacy as a victim of sexual assault.

… “I have been informed that the complainant is emotionally unstable with a tendency to seek out older men and engage in fantasizing,” Clinton, then named Hillary D. Rodham, wrote in the affidavit. “I have also been informed that she has in the past made false accusations about persons, claiming they had attacked her body. Also that she exhibits an unusual stubbornness and temper when she does not get her way.”

Clinton also wrote that a child psychologist told her that children in early adolescence “tend to exaggerate or romanticize sexual experiences,” especially when they come from “disorganized families, such as the complainant.”

The victim vigorously denied Clinton’s accusations and said there has never been any explanation of what Clinton was referring to in that affidavit. She claims she never accused anyone of attacking her before her rape.

“I’ve never said that about anyone. I don’t know why she said that. I have never made false allegations. I know she was lying,” she said. “I definitely didn’t see older men. I don’t know why Hillary put that in there and it makes me plumb mad.”

… For the victim, the tapes prove that while Clinton was arguing in the affidavit that the victim could have some culpability in her own attack, she actually believed that her client was guilty. Taylor’s light sentence was a miscarriage of justice, the victim said.

“It’s proven fact, with all the tapes [now revealed], she lied like a dog on me. I think she was trying to do whatever she could do to make herself look good at the time…. She wanted it to look good, she didn’t care if those guys did it or not,” she said. “Them two guys should have got a lot longer time. I do not think justice was served at all.”

How horrific was the assault on the child? She spent five days in a coma after the brutal rape, spent months in recovery, and over ten years in therapy. She was told she would likely never be able to bear children.

And Hillary laughed when she described how she lied to discredit this little girl, laughed when she talked about how she was able to help these monsters escape time in prison.

It’s especially interesting to note how quickly the femisogynists are coming out in force to defend Hillary’s behavior here. The same people who bemoan “rape culture” and attack the idea of teaching women self-defense as “victim-blaming” are defending someone who peddled in both, and continued to do so throughout her life. When multiple women accused Hillary’s husband, Bill Clinton, of sexual harassment and rape, those women were likewise smeared, attacked, and discredited by the Clintons. But because Hillary Clinton is a pro-abortion liberal, the same “feminists” who decry rape culture and victim-blaming will excuse Hillary engaging in just that.

Kate Dries at Jezebel shrugged it off as the right wing having a field day over an old story. Amanda Marcotte said at Slate’s Double X blog that “it shouldn’t matter”, and accused right-wingers of “bamboozling” people with the tapes. (How we’re bamboozling anyone about the tapes is hard to figure out, considering that the tapes consist of Hillary’s own words, but OK.) Other notable feminists or feminist blogs are ignoring the case altogether. The harshest criticism to come from a so-called feminist is from Erin Gloria Ryan at Jezebel, who acknowledges how horrific it is for Hillary to smear the victim in the case, yet absolves her of blame — it’s the fault of the legal system, you see, and Hillary didn’t really have any choice. How, exactly, do you imagine they would react if this had been a pro-life Republican presidential candidate caught on tape giggling about discrediting a 12-year-old rape victim and boasting about how they got the rapist off with a slap on the wrist? Oh, the outrage would be legendary, and the scandal would haunt them for the rest of their political career. But because it’s Hillary, we can ignore her complicity in rape culture, and how she routinely does exactly what the so-called feminists claim to despise so much: blame the victim.

Stories like this make my blood pressure dangerously high, so I have to try very hard to calm down. This kind of crap also makes me wonder why there isn’t more vigilante justice going on.

She gives me the impression that she’s quite skilled at putting people “through hell”!

Amazing comments section below the article in the Daily Beast. How this is simply a lie dredged up by the right wing machine. Or how horrible it is that the right wingers have brought up this case and caused the victim pain all over again. Mostly how Hillary was doing her job to the best of her ability and this is just a smear campaign.
There are even more than one commenter who says the rape victim is lying.
I don’t know how she ended up in a coma and rehab, but by golly, she’ s lying.

I don’t know what it takes to be liberal. Closed eyes, muddled brain, and one big emotional center , I guess.
