Quite honestly, my heart stopped when I heard that President Trump was shot at the rally this afternoon in Pennsylvania. I really wanted it to be a joke, but it is not.

There’s a lot of information flowing since this happened just over an hour ago. But the fact is clear, there WERE shots (my husband counted 13 total after watching multiple video replays), and yes President Trump was injured.
The Secret Service has issued a statement.
SECRET SERVICE STATEMENT
— Bill Melugin (@BillMelugin_) July 13, 2024
“An incident occurred the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania. The Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former President is safe. This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be…
The Trump campaign followed up with their statement.
Former President Donald Trump’s campaign said on Saturday that the former president was “fine” and being checked out at a local medical facility after he appeared to be shot at a political rally.
Trump spokesman Steven Cheung told said that Trump was “fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility.”He said that Trump “thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act.”
We are all extremely thankful for the quick actions of the Secret Service, and there are reports that the shooter was neutralized.
Political leaders are starting to issue their own statements.
Gov. Josh Shapiro, Democrat of Pennsylvania, said in a statement that he had been “briefed on the situation” and that the state police were on the scene working with federal partners. “Violence targeted at any political party or political leader is absolutely unacceptable,” Shapiro said. “It has no place in Pennsylvania or the United States.”
No. This has absolutely ZERO place no matter the party you belong to. As we work to update our readers on this, please keep in mind one very important thing. A former President, who is running for his second term, was shot at a political campaign rally. And here is how our media describes it.
Loud noises. Really guys? CNN and others weren’t any better at their reporting as evidenced by this screen shot.
Meanwhile, after attending Mass, Joe Biden is on the job.
President Biden is now getting a briefing from both the director of the Secret Service and DHS Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas about the incident in Pennsylvania, per White House official. Chief of Staff Zients is in the briefing.

This is a blow to this Republic. The animosity between factions has been getting stronger and stronger since Trump was elected in 2020 and DC was nearly turned into a war zone during the inauguration. None of this is acceptable and EVERYONE needs to step back and do some honest reflection as to how we got to this day. This is the way:
Now is the time for every American who loves our country to step back from the division, renounce all violence, and unite in prayer for President Trump and his family.

And this is NOT the way.
Appears Trump shot, bullet grazes his ear, he seems to say "Fight" and pumps his fist before leaving. We have more guns than people in this country. I hope cool heads prevail but…

Put your political animosities aside and please start working on putting this Republic, and our sacred honor first. Pray for those injured. Pray for President Trump. Pray for his family.
We will be keeping our readers updated as we find out more.
UPDATE 5 PM PDT We now have statements from former presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
Statement by President George W. Bush: "Laura and I are grateful that President Trump is safe following the cowardly attack on his life. And we commend the men and women of the Secret Service for their speedy response."

Where is Joe Biden? He has issued an official statement from the White House. There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy. Although we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt, and use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics.…

A press release? That’s it???Statement from the White House: pic.twitter.com/x0pM9je69a

We also have reports coming out that the shooter is dead, and that one audience member is dead. And the Biden White House thinks a press release is good enough, because it’s after bedtime in Delaware??? Pray for the innocent who are dead, and the injured. The election is probably officially over but if Biden doesn't come out tonight and address the nation, that will be the final nail.

I have been expecting this. Thank God it is a TR in Milwaukee incident, rather than a Kennedy in Dallas event.
Not quite, unfortunately. Definitely people in the crowd were hit; one reasonably well confirmed death. A reported but unconfirmed second one.
But, yes – thank GOD! Not only for Trump and his family – but a successful assassination is what would kick off a massive wave of retaliation. Non-involvement by the junta would not matter; nobody, and I mean nobody, would believe that they were not involved.
Apparently, Biden is to make a national statement tonight. Which is risky of them – nothing will help him, but if they don’t have him medicated properly, it will be the very final stake in his campaign.
The shooter was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. He shot at 400 feet/133 yards from a set position. He was either nervous and shaky or a very inexperienced shooter to – thankfully – have missed Trump at that range only to kill and wound others nearby. It will be very interesting to learn his ‘politics’. It will also be interesting to see if the Democrats try to spin the incident as publicity-seeking by Trump et al.
Undoubtedly saw the Secret Service not very far away, too. So snap shooting. (The videos show no more than 15 seconds of shooting – and some of the last ones were undoubtedly the sounds from taking him down, not his shots.)
Effective snipers take a lot of training. He definitely did not have that.
Oh, politics. Reportedly a registered Republican – but donated to radical Democrat organizations. Theory is that he registered that way as a spoiler, since PA has closed primaries.
Prayers out to those killed and wounded
