No Democrats, Bombing Iranian Nuclear Sites Is Not An Impeachable Offense

As much as the pearl-clutching Democrats wish it were so, bombing Iranian nuclear sites is not an impeachable offense. Yet they’ll spend the next days/weeks/months insisting that it is. By dropping 14 bunker busting bombs on three specific nuclear sites, Democrats are insisting that Trump declared war.

On Saturday, congressional Democrats largely condemned Trump’s decision to go ahead with strikes without congressional approval. Only Congress can declare war on a foreign nation, according to Article I Section 8, Clause 11 of the Constitution, although the president controls the armed forces and is commander in chief.

Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-New York) late Saturday night said the Senate must enforce the War Powers Act — the measure that would reaffirm Congress’s right to declare war. Schumer urged Thune to bring the act to a vote on the floor “immediately.”

As we look at how this unfolded and how operational security was brilliantly kept, we need to remember that Iran declared war against the United States and Israel back in the 1970’s after Jimmy Carter helped get the Shah deposed. Iran went a giant step further by storming the U.S. Embassy in Iran and holding Americans hostage for 444 days.

Since then, Iran has been recognized the world over as the largest state sponsor of terrorism. They’ve had their hands in and on every major terror attack we’ve seen. From the Beirut barracks bombing in 1983, to funding Hamas and Hezbollah for decades, to funding Libya under Quadaffi’s reign, and attacks on civilians around the world. Iran has made it abundantly clear over the years that they want to see Israel obliterated off the map and that they want the U.S. weakened.

They thought they had it made when Obama along with John Kerry showed up with Ben Rhodes’ asinine idea of JCPOA nuclear deal. One that rational minds knew was a non-starter because Iran made it clear they wouldn’t comply with the deal in any way shape or form. Trying to bribe them with pallets of cash certainly didn’t work.

Obama’s red lines were super stretchy, leading to Iran thinking they could run roughshod over the U.S. which included boarding a U.S. naval vessel and capturing ten American soldiers. Obama ignored that pesky detail during his last State of the Union address, instead lauding his grandiose Iran Deal.

Whether anyone likes it or not, Iran cannot, could not, and never should be trusted. Yet, President Trump gave them every opportunity to come to the table. And they refused, every single time.

The US has been sending “messages” to Iran and has made clear what the regime must do to achieve peace,” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said.

“I can only confirm that there are both public and private messages being directly delivered to the Iranians in multiple channels, giving them every opportunity to come to the table,” Hegseth told reporters.

“They understand precisely what the American position is, precisely what steps they can take to allow for peace and we hope they do so.”

Yet, immediately after President Trump made it clear his red line in the sand wasn’t flexible…AT ALL, the Democrats came out in force. IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE is their slogan once again.

Bernie Sanders got his progressive fans riled up, while Rep. Jason Crow threw a fit.

And here’s AOC.

“The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote in a post on X. “He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.”

That’s rich coming from a woman who, just hours before, personally accompanied pro-Hamas activist Mahmoud Khalil back to New York City.

Other Democrats were equally insistent that this was an impeachable offense.

I find it laughable that, later on in his thread, Casten insisted that the best deterrent has been Obama’s Iran Deal, and finishes up with stating that every single move Trump makes militarily can only be done with Congressional approval. Then again, he’s not the only one claiming that this was impeachable. The rest of AOC’s squad along with other Democrats are shrilly screaming about impeachable offenses to the sky.

While they are bleating about impeachment, the reality is that three major Iranian nuclear sites were obliterated by our B-52 bombers with their bunker busting bombs and Tomahawk missiles.

“Operation Midnight Hammer” was a master class in military planning, skill, and operational security.

The Democrats were left in the dark about this operation. And they are definitely mad about it, hence their screeching about impeachable offenses. Quite honestly, if they had been told, they would’ve blabbed all over the place.

It’s kind of funny that some Democrats are applauding this action (Senator John Fetterman for one), and other Dem strategists (including Van Jones!) are pointing out that, no, this isn’t impeachable.

Democrats want us to forget that both Clinton AND Obama had similar operations during their terms. No one was screaming about impeachment then.

One former DNC guy issued a warning last night, and made it clear this doesn’t rise to impeachment. He’ll be ignored though.

The fact of the matter is, Obama’s Iran Deal emboldened state-sponsored terrorism and gave Iran the ability to build major nuclear sites for the enrichment and subsequent building of nuclear weapons.

President Trump made it clear during his first term, that Iran was done. He gave then 60 days this time to come to the table. They refused. “Operation Midnight Hammer” was the result.

It won’t be long before he’s impeached for putting up 2 flag poles on government property.

And yet, you never did that with Iraq or Afghanistan for some reason.

    • Or Serbia. Or Libya.

      Well….
We actually did with the AUMF – the Taliban were harboring Al Qaeda. And the Iraq War was a continuation of the First Gulf War as Iraq broke the ceasefire agreement (another horrid legacy of the post-WW2 “War is never a good thing” Prog consensus) again and again. Though I argues we should have gone to war over the attempted assassination of President Bush and made a formal declaration over it.

And, yes, the AUMF was a weak sister as far as “declarations of war” go, refusing to name any entity with which we were actually at war (instead going for “terrorism”, a tactic), and refusing to name it a war. Because no one has the balls to actually say “Yeah, this is an act of war, and we’re going to war.”

  • They don’t have any case even under the shakily Constitutional War Powers Act.

That resolution requires notice within 48 hours of the military action. They certainly have that. The sixty day “clock” for continuing operations has only begun to tick.

Um, AOC, we’ve BEEN in a multigenerational war with Iran since before you were born. The fact that no one in the U.S. government took Iran seriously for most of that time does not change that, but yeah, they declared it, and have never rescinded it.

  • GWB says:

    No, Nina, it actually is.
Now, it likely won’t be held to be such by the House or the Senate, because it would implicate them in their lack of following the Constitution. But this IS adventurism by the President in the strictest sense of what the Constitution was set up to allow the President to do.

The issue with Iran having declared war on us is that we have never acted like it. Trump finally is.
