Just Stop Oil Loons Attack Priceless Painting With Hammers

They’ve graduated from paint to soup, to glue, and now hammers. The Just Stop Oil loons are getting more emboldened these days. Now it’s hammer time.

Two climate activists from the group Just Stop Oil have been arrested after smashing the glass protecting a famous painting in London’s National Gallery on Monday, the city’s Metropolitan Police said.

A video posted to Just Stop Oil’s account on X shows the activists wearing white Just Stop Oil t-shirts and breaking the glass protecting Diego Velázquez’s 17th-century “Rokeby Venus” with orange safety hammers.

Yes, they went after a very priceless painting, one that the artist painted in the 1600’s, with hammers.

If you read the reporting below the video… they “apparently” attacked the painting?? NO, they DID attack the painting.

I’ve several questions about this mess.

One: Where was security??

Two: It took security over 15 minutes to get there?

Three: How come no one tackled those two cretins and put a stop to their attack?

Four: Who is funding this crap?

Five: There should be very real consequences for this vandalism. But nooooo… the Just Stop Oil loons, who would hinder traffic by either slow-walking down the road or glue themselves to concrete have now decided attempting to destroy a priceless painting with a hammer will finally get people to shut down the oil industry.

They are really proud of their destruction aren’t they? These loons want the oil and gas industry totally shut down. They want wind and solar only. Sadly for them, wind and solar isn’t sustainable and is so costly major projects around the world are being scrapped.

The Danish wind energy developer Ørsted said this week it’s scrapping its Ocean Wind I and II projects off southern New Jersey due to problems with supply chains, higher interest rates and a failure to obtain the amount of tax credits the company wanted. Together, the projects were supposed to deliver over 2.2 gigawatts of power.

The news comes after developers in New England canceled power contacts for three projects that would have provided another 3.2 gigawatts of wind power to Massachusetts and Connecticut. They said their projects were no longer financially feasible.

Meanwhile, what the Just Stop Oil asshats fail to realize is that it takes OIL and OIL byproducts to build their laptops, their cellphones, the hammers they use, their shoes, and so on. Wind and solar will never build or create those items. Never. Furthermore, these eco-zealots ignore the fact that wind and solar are having a negative impact on wildlife such as eagles and whales.

As Beege pointed out over at Hot Air last week, not only are projects being canceled, wind turbine manufacturers are seeing losses in the billions. By the way, it takes OIL and OIL by products to build and run those pesky wind turbines.

Meanwhile, there are other groups out there who feel that arresting activists who disrupt proceedings or try to vandalize statues, paintings, or objects is actually interfering with their right to protest.

Human rights group Liberty responded to the arrests, saying: “The use of this new power is a dangerous escalation of the attack on the right to protest, with protesters potentially facing up to a year in prison for standing up for what they believe in.

“These arrests are a clear attempt to criminalise people for exercising that right. The government, in passing these new laws, has tried to make it even harder for the public to stand up to power.”

Well, here in the U.S. those who protest are, with the exception of anyone in D.C. on January 6, not held accountable for their actions. We saw that with the destructive George Floyd riots, the CHAZ/CHOP protests, and now with the pro-Palestine vandalism.

When the media describes this vandalism as just “passionate protests” it’s a fair bet that no one will be held accountable for their actions.

Which is why the Just Stop Oil loons are getting bolder and more destructive.

The National Gallery had been targeted before. Paintings had soup thrown at them and several of the protesters had glued themselves to the frames. Therefore, why haven’t significant security measures been put in place?

Quite frankly, until there are very real consequences that don’t include measly fines and zero jail time, these eco-zealot loons will continue to try and destroy valuable paintings and property.

I think Singapore has the right idea: beat them with a cane. Hurts like hell, but it’s not fatal.

Proper punishment would be to drop them somewhere on an island, and not allow them to have anything that is petroleum based. Not a cellphone, not a computer, not polyester shirts (nor even cotton shirts made with plastic needles or on machines that use plastic parts), not anything that uses electricity (btw, all those windmills and solar panels are full of… plastic – they rely on it), not anything that requires boats, planes, or automobiles to get to them, etc., etc. They can mine their metal locally and grow whatever food they can there.

Of course, it would have to be a totally uninhabited island, without any native flora or fauna – we wouldn’t want them colonizing anywhere, now would we? There are some rocks in the Atlantic that I think might work out….

I was waiting for someone….anyone….. to get in their faces, drag them out, shut them up! But no…why not, private property, is it not? What? Silence, always they go free! How long does this keep on? Just asking for millions of friends!

They need a beatdown, but this is England, so unless they are saying something negative about muslims, or using the “wrong” pronouns, there will be no repercussions.. London has Fallen
