Well, they are persistent! The Jan 6 committee’s last desperate gamble is having a subcommittee look at trying to make the ignored subpoenas and criminal referrals stick.
The House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol has established a subcommittee to craft possible criminal referrals and examine “all outstanding issues” facing the panel as it races a deadline to complete its work.
Chair Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) said the panel formed the subcommittee about a month ago, grouping a number of the committee’s lawyers to examine how to move forward on unresolved subpoenas — a group that includes fellow lawmakers and former President Trump — investigative loose ends and any recommendations to the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Of course this is about Trump. It’s a last desperate gamble to make sure that Trump nor any of the other lawmakers including Andy Biggs, Jim Jordan, and Mike Pence be drug kicking and screaming in front of the “bipartisan” committee and be made to testify. It’s a gamble that they hope they can somehow succeed at in just a few weeks before the committee is kaput.
Are all the members of the committee on board with this new gamble. Its seems some are not.
But some members on the panel in recent months have questioned the need for referrals to the justice department, which has ramped up its investigation into the Capitol attack and issued subpoenas to Trump’s allies demanding appearances before at least two grand juries in Washington.
The debate, according to sources familiar with the matter, centered on whether making referrals might backfire if they are perceived to politically taint the criminal investigations hearing evidence about the fake electors scheme or the far-right groups that stormed the Capitol.
Well, as for the DOJ investigations, we’ve now found out that the FBI had embeds in the Proud Boys movement leading up to and on that specific day. Have THOSE agents been called to testify before the January 6 committee or even testified to the grand juries? Who knows? Then again, it wouldn’t surprise me if they hadn’t been called because then, some of the chosen narrative might fall apart.
What a mess. Fed had informants with the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers. So why the hell didn’t they prevent Jan 6? https://t.co/Unq9VceqhU

A very excellent question. One the Jan 6 committee SHOULD be asking, but they won’t, just as they haven’t asked genuine questions of the Capitol Police.
Furthermore, when you have multiple J6 defendants who are only convicted of “parading” or “yelling” at people, that doesn’t exactly fall into the definition of insurrection now does it?
But again, the J6 committee persists and this is one of their last greatest gambles. We will make them testify! Except that Donald Trump was a no-show and Mike Pence bluntly informed the committee through a major interview this week that he would not be testifying at all.

Liz threw a shit fit.
In their statement, Thompson and Cheney said: “The select committee has proceeded respectfully and responsibly in our engagement with Vice-President Pence, so it is disappointing that he is misrepresenting the nature of our investigation while giving interviews to promote his new book.
“Our investigation has publicly presented the testimony of more than 50 Republican witnesses, including senior members of the Trump White House, the Trump campaign, and the Trump justice department.
“This testimony, subject to criminal penalties for lying to Congress, was not ‘partisan’. It was truthful.”
Liz is one of two token Republicans on the committee. So while she persists, the fact is, the entire damned committee is 100% partisan Democrat. And that includes Adam Kinziger who is touting himself as some kind of resistance hero.
We all know what the January 6 committee wants. They want Trump to end up in jail. They want him to admit that January 6 was all his fault and no one else’s. They believe that if they can just make sure all the criminal referrals turn into convictions then Democracy, not our Republic, but Democracy will be forever more saved from those who dare question their power.
Which means all the little peons needs to shut up and sit down. As evidenced by Liz’s reaction when college students called her on the carpet!
Liz Cheney confronted about Ray Epps:

"There are conspiracy theories about the role that he was playing that day. People are pushing this notion that somehow he was doing what he was doing because the federal government was telling him to." pic.twitter.com/2ULCvwGNQv
.@jgkolettis: "Given your commitment to democracy, how do you justify your collaboration with J6 committee members who rejected the 2016 election?"

Liz: "I think your [asking] is the [J6] committee partisan… it’s the most nonpartisan committee I've ever served on." pic.twitter.com/OJQNfYZ2QE
And here she thought she was among like-minded friends. Heh.
Not one single person on that committee is committed to finding out any real truth. This entire debacle costing American taxpayers millions of dollars is and always has been an effort to once and for all stop ORANGEMANBAD.
This subcommittee scramble, that includes Liz, is just one last desperate gamble to win out over Donald Trump. Every witness they’ve had has come up short and all their big gotchas have fizzled. Who knows what the final report will be. Yet, at the end of the day it’s a fair bet that there won’t be the big ‘WE GOT TRUMP!’ that they’ve been telling us is imminent for two years now.
As I stated above, you do have to admire their persistence. But as gamblers, they suck.

I’m way locked in to supporting Trump in his next run. It’s very surprising the collapse of the attacks on him in this committee and from the DOJ conceding their search turned up nothing essentially. And absolving Rudy is a good turn as well.
Now I’m looking into how to contribute directly to Trump and not thru the Winred site.
“We will keep holding trials until we get the verdict we want” is the domain of Third World nations.
to make sure that Trump nor any of the other lawmakers including Andy Biggs, Jim Jordan, and Mike Pence be drug kicking and screaming in front of the “bipartisan” committee and be made to testify
Nope. It’s not to ensure they testify. It’s solely to make sure their name can be drug through the mud every time they’re mentioned in the news for the next 2 years. “Trump, who is under indictment for refusing a congressional subpoena…” and “…Jim Jordan, who illegally refused a congressional subpoena and is facing charges over it…”. They would love it if they could get testimony, but I think they know that isn’t happening.
if they are perceived to politically taint the criminal investigations
What?! Politics tainting DOJ investigations in DC?! Why, I never…!
Also… “Too late! That happened about 4 years ago.”
One the Jan 6 committee SHOULD be asking
Especially because that one actually falls within their constitutional authority. Their current investigation really doesn’t.
The select committee has proceeded respectfully and responsibly
Bullcarp. Unadulterated bovine excrement.
Our investigation has publicly presented the testimony perjury of more than 50 Republican witnesses
FIFY, Lizzy.
“This testimony, subject to criminal penalties for lying to Congress, was not ‘partisan’. It was truthful.”
Your nose is growing, Lizzy.
We all know what the January 6 committee wants.
Same thing McConnell does, it seems: permanent minority status for Republicans. And no one EVER AGAIN to challenge their elite status as the proper technocrats to rule over this portion of the globalist progressive empire.
you do have to admire their persistence
In the same way I admire a junky’s persistence in getting their next hit.
