Federal sentencing guidelines for child porn are outdated and overly harsh says Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson. No, she didn’t admit that outright during her opening statement yesterday, but the implication was absolutely there.
The Democrats and media are turning back flips in order to protect Jackson from those mean-spirited Republicans who DARE TO QUESTION her record! It’s not like we knew that wasn’t going to happen. As soon as Justice Breyer announced his retirement, it was obvious that any questions Republicans would raise concerning the nominee’s record would be countered with cries of sexism, misogyny, and racism. Sure enough, once Biden announced to the world that he is nominating a person whose most important classification is that she is black, the Republicans were going to be in a tight spot.
It’s ok to be discriminatory when the Democrats do it. Yet if Republicans dare question Jackson’s record, the knives come out in force.

There you have it. It was absolutely 100% ok for Durbin to accuse Justice Brett Kavanaugh of gang rape, but don’t you dare question Judge Jackson’s sentencing record regarding those trafficking in child porn and pedophilia!
No sooner had Senator Josh Hawley expressed very valid concerns, with receipts!, over her incredibly lenient sentencing record, the media and Democrats along with the National Review! went all in to defend that record while tacitly admitting that Hawley was correct, she WAS way too lenient! Furthermore, those mandatory minimums are too…harsh!
These specific hearings are vitally important according to the media.
While Democrats have the votes to confirm President Joe Biden’s first Supreme Court nominee on their own, and hope to by the middle of April, the hearings could prove critical to the White House goal of securing at least some Republican support and shoring up the court’s credibility.
You see the implication here? The Supreme Court has zero credibility right now due to the fact that Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch, and Amy Coney Barrett were confirmed during the Trump Administration. Oh, and let’s not forget that Clarence Thomas is on the bench! However, by checking all the approved boxes (woman, black, extremely liberal, and lenient towards pedophiles and child porn traffickers) and voting Jackson in, the Supreme Court will magically become credible? Wow.
So, what did Jackson say in response to questions regarding the child porn sentences she rendered?

“The statute doesn’t say impose about the highest possible penalty for this sickening and egregious crime. The statute says calculate the guidelines, but also look at various aspects of this offense and impose a sentence that is ‘sufficient, but not greater than necessary to promote the purposes of punishment.’
“And in every case, when I am dealing with something like this, it is important to me to make sure that the children’s perspective, the children’s voices are represented in my sentences. And what that means is that for every defendant who comes before me and who suggests, as they often do, that they’re just a ‘looker,’ that these crimes don’t really matter, they’ve collected these things on the internet and it’s fine. I tell them about the victim statements that have come in to me as a judge.

“And the one that was the most telling to me, that I describe at almost every one of these sentencings, when I look in the eyes of a defendant who is weeping because I’m giving him a significant sentence. What I say to him is ‘do you know that there is someone who has written to me and who has told me that she has developed agoraphobia, she cannot leave her house because she thinks that everyone she meets will have seen her … pictures on the internet. They’re out there forever, at the most vulnerable time of her life. And so she’s paralyzed.
“I tell that story to every child porn defendant as a part of my sentencings so that they understand what they have done. I say to them, that there’s only a market for this kind of material because there are lookers, that you are contributing to child sex abuse. And I impose a significant sentence. And all of the additional restraints that are available in the law.
“These people are looking at 20, 30, 40 years of supervision. They can’t use their computers in a normal way for decades. I am imposing all of those constraints because I understand how significant, how damaging, how horrible this crime is.”
Did you catch all of that? It was a word salad that didn’t answer the question of her leniency. Most of her sentences barely met the mandatory minimum federal guidelines.
We are told that questioning Jackson’s incredibly lenient record regarding child porn and pedophiles is gross and misleading. The problem here is her willingness to cater to criminals who prey on children and destroy their lives.
We need judges at ALL levels, most especially the United State Supreme Court to uphold the LAW. Thus far, it’s glaringly apparent that Judge Jackson cares more about catering to those trafficking in child porn and advocating for the law to be applied through the lens of critical race theory.
UPDATE: When CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin leaps to your defense, then yes, your track record on child porn sentencing is beyond dismal, it’s judicial malpractice.
You can't make this up.
