Ilhan Omar Openly Declares Her Own “Dual Loyalty” To Somalia

Ilhan Omar is a vile, hateful, gross human being. Ever since she was first elected to Congress, her attitudes have been atrocious and bigoted. And yet Democrats always found a way to spin an excuse for her.

Well, this time the Congresswoman has stepped in quite a pile of doo-doo. How Democrats try to spin the smell off this one is beyond me, but my best guess? They ignore it completely because Ilhan Omar didn’t give this speech in English.

So, what was Omar saying?

For context, one of the issues that Ilhan Omar was ranting about was the breakaway government in Somalia that calls itself “Somaliland.” Just a few days ago, the Somaliland leaders signed an agreement with Ethiopia for access to the coast, apparently for their navy.

The deal has been condemned by regional and international groups, as well as Western countries, which say it interferes with Somalia’s territorial integrity and is causing tensions that could threaten stability in the Horn of Africa region.

Somalia has also protested the deal as a threat to its sovereignty by Somaliland, a region strategically located along the Gulf of Aden that broke away from Somalia in 1991 as the country collapsed into warlord-led conflict. Somaliland has not been internationally recognized.

Somaliland’s President Muse Bihi Abdi gave more details about the memorandum of understanding he signed on Jan. 1 with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in an interview with Somaliland National Television on Wednesday.

Ethiopia, Abdi said, is seeking to lease a segment of the coastline for a naval base — and not for commercial activities as previously thought. In exchange for leasing a 20 kilometer- (12.4 mile-) stretch of Somaliland’s coastline, Ethiopia would recognize Somaliland as an independent state.

Apparently, we now know that Ilhan Omar isn’t a fan of Somaliland. Okay, she can say that. But Ilhan Omar is an AMERICAN CITIZEN. She’s not supposed to be representing the interests of Somalia!

In the video, the liberal Minnesota leader was addressing a crowd in a Minneapolis hotel when she spoke about Somaliland and the unrecognized state’s deal with Ethiopia, which Somalia alleges infringes on its territory.

The video shared to X contains an English translation, which has not been verified by the Washington Examiner (however, Omar’s response to the controversy lends credence to the translation being at least largely accurate). The translation includes Omar stating she’s in Congress to represent Somali Americans’ interests and that the “U.S. will do what we want and nothing else.”

While it appears Omar was speaking to a largely Somali American crowd and showing support for her constituents and their motherland, many prominent users on X (formerly Twitter) took issue with the video.

This is how Ilhan Omar responded to everyone’s reaction to her translated speech.

Really? That’s what you meant when you said this?

OMAR: The U.S. would not dare support anyone against Somalia to steal our land or oceans. Sleep in comfort, knowing I am here to protect the interests of Somalia from inside the U.S. system. The woman you sent to Congress is working day and night to protect your interests. She knows your plight and that of Somalia. I am as concerned about Somalia as you guys are. Together, we will protect the interests of Somalia.

OMAR: Somalia is for Somalis only as over 45 percent of Somalia’s population are not even ethnic Somalis. Somalia is one nation. We are all brothers and sisters. Our land can not be divided. Ethiopia and Kenya have stolen and continue to occupy the Somali region state, which belongs to Somalia. We will liberate the occupied territories stolen from Somalia…

We? Who is “we,” Congresswoman? The Somaliland advocates were not impressed.

The full tweet/post reads:

We were profoundly surprised, even shocked on discovering the remarks made by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D) of Minnesota in a recent public forum, widely circulated on most social media platforms and attached below for your reference.

The language she employed was regrettably unbecoming of both the office she holds and the constituents she represents.

Her expressions were lacking in common decency and revealed a significant lack of understanding of basic facts. Specifically troubling, were her endeavors to revive the once-violent and dangerous ideology of Greater Somalia or Somali Weyn, which caused so much death, destruction and conflict in the Horn of Africa.

Furthermore, her use of ethno-racist rhetoric didn’t escape attention and left many, with a deep sense of disappointment.

This was particularly bewildering for those who recall similar racist attacks she endured not long ago, of being ”not American enough” and was baffling to see her take a similar approach and accuse the entire #Somaliland nation of “falsely claiming Somali identity.”

Moreover, her ignorance of #US – #Somaliland cooperation in the fight against terror and piracy in the Gulf of Aden & Gulf Of Berbera was shocking to say the least.

We hope the house leadership and her caucus will take note of her public conduct, unbecoming a United States Congresswoman nor representative of the august house she serves in.

The truth is even worse than that. Back in 2019, Ilhan Omar was excoriated for accusing Jewish Americans of having “dual loyalty” to both Israel and America. No matter that Jim Clyburn tried to excuse her comments by invoking the Holocaust, or that Nancy Pelosi attempted to claim that Omar simply didn’t understand what she was saying. No less a Democrat than Rahm Emanuel pointed out Ilhan Omar’s anti-Semitism in her “dual loyalty” charge at the time.

First, when questioning long-standing congressional support for Israel, she blamed the campaign money provided by pro-Israel supporters. “It’s all about the Benjamins, baby,” she tweeted.

After apologizing for that comment and acknowledging her need to be “educated,” she followed with another tweet, questioning the “allegiance” of supporters of Israel, intimating that we place the concerns of Israel above those of the country that we call home.

No one is questioning the right of members of Congress and others to criticize Israeli policies. But Omar is crossing a line that should not be crossed in political discourse. Her remarks are not anti-Israel; they are anti-Semitic.

And now here is Ilhan Omar, giving a speech to the Somali community, declaring herself a Somali loyalist and claiming that the United States “will do what we want.” Is this “dual loyalty,” Congresswoman? Are you a representative for Minnesota, or are you a representative for Somalia?

Does Ilhan Omar remember saying this?

“I took an oath to uphold the Constitution. I am as American as everyone else is,” Omar said in an interview on “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert.

Pick one, Congresswoman, because it certainly doesn’t sound like you are “as American as everyone else” in your speech. And I think she was counting on the fact that her speech wasn’t in English to protect herself from any backlash.

Ilhan Omar can have an opinion on Somalia – but she can’t advocate for their interests just because she has familial and personal ties to the country. She gave that up when she became an American citizen. When did she decide to become a cheap version of Senator Bob Menendez? Omar isn’t taking bribes to support Somalia – she’s taking VOTES. The Somali community in her district is fully behind her, ensuring that she stays there to promote SOMALIA. Imagine if she was still on the House Foreign Affairs Committee!

If you don’t support America and the Constitution first above all other considerations, then you should not be an elected official in the United States. Period. Is anyone in the House going to demand that Ilhan Omar be expelled for this? HA. Most Democrats are just going to shrug and say “do WE actually understand the meaning of her words because it wasn’t English?” And Ilhan Omar will not even bother giving any more explanation than she already has, because the Somali community that can vote will keep her in office, even though she is a vicious anti-Semite and the district deserves better. This is not about Omar’s religion (she has enough problems following their rules). This is about her declaring that she represents the interests of Somalia, not Minnesota, and that her role is apparently to advance those interests in Congress. She’s declared her loyalty. She should be out of a job. I wouldn’t lay any money on that actually happening.

The oath I took when I joined the Navy started, “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same…” If I had broken it I would have been court-marshaled and sent to Leavenworth.
The oath of office she (supposedly) took starts “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same”. She clearly breaks that oath regularly. Why is she still in office?

Why is she still in office?

      1. Liberal
      2. Skin Color
      3. Gender
      4. Religion

She’s at the perfect intersection so she’s untouchable.

You’re looking at the wrong oath.
She also took one when she was naturalized, which states she renounces all prior allegiances.

If she’s not rightfully a citizen (false oath), then she’s ineligible for Congress. And it’s exactly why the requirement to be an American is in the Constitution.

      Somalia, not Somaliland.

Ilhan Omar declared her loyalty to Somalia. But she is very hostile to Somaliland, the secessionist area that rules the northern part of Somalia.

The oath of citizenship trquires one to give up loyalty to any other nation. To me it sounds like she has renounced her American citizenship.

George Santos was kicked out of the House for less.

I have attended numerous Scottish games, part of my heritage and they are fun. Never heard any political speech, much less a call to secede from the U.K.

” is causing tensions that could threaten stability in the Horn of Africa region.”.. At what time in history (other than when being ruled by colonial powers) has there EVER been stability in that region?

Now that she has openly declared that she has no intention of honoring her oath of office, and the one to become a citizen, can’t we just revoke her citizenship, and deport this traitorous bucket of scum? (and do the same with whatever small minority of her Somali supporters that have similarly violated their oaths of citizenship??

There’s enough native born trash that hates this Republic of ours, we damn sure don’t need to import more..
