Ilhan Omar Gets Mad When Asked About The Massive Math “Error”

To hear her snarl about it, Ilhan Omar is the victim of her incompetent accountants. Or is she?

It has taken several months for Omar (D-Somalia) to plead poverty after it was initially disclosed – through her own forms – that she was worth millions. Last September, the Washington Free Beacon reported that Ilhan Omar and her third husband (the one that came after her brother, and the father of her children) had a net worth that had apparently skyrocketed.

Omar reported in her latest financial disclosure that she and her husband, former political consultant Tim Mynett, accumulated a net worth at the end of 2024 ranging from at least $6 million to $30 million. Their wealth is derived almost entirely from the value of Mynett’s ownership stake in his two companies that, together, were worth no more than $51,000 at the end of 2023. The exact value of Omar’s personal fortune at the end of 2024 is unclear—lawmakers disclose the value of their holdings and debts in ranges. Still, the figures in Omar’s latest disclosures show that her and her husband’s net worth skyrocketed by at least 3,500 percent in just one year.

Omar has her husband to thank for catapulting her to multimillionaire status in 2024. Mynett’s California-based winery eStCru LLC and venture capital firm Rose Lake Capital both achieved remarkable financial turnarounds in 2024. At the end of 2023, Mynett’s combined stake in both companies was worth no more than $51,000, the firms had less than $700 across all their bank accounts, and Mynett and his business partner, former DNC adviser Will Hailer, were saddled with lawsuits from investors claiming they defrauded them out of millions of dollars.

But by the end of 2024, Mynett’s combined stake in the two firms ballooned to anywhere between $6 and $30 million, and he and Hailer settled the lawsuits with cash settlements, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

Now remember, the Free Beacon is merely reporting what Omar put in her financial disclosure report to the House of Representatives. The congresswoman then got royally pissed off that anyone had actually looked at those publicly available forms.

Omar’s extraordinary accumulation of wealth in 2024 could raise uncomfortable questions for the Minnesota Democrat, who in February told Business Insider that she has been the subject of a “coordinated right-wing disinformation campaign” that falsely claims she’s worth millions of dollars. Omar said any insinuation that she’s worth more than a few thousand dollars was “ridiculous” and “categorically false.” She also took to X in February, challenging her followers to “maybe try checking my public financial statements and you will see I barely have thousands let alone millions.”

Yeah, that’s kind of the point, Ilhan. The Free Beacon DID check your public financial statements. And now, months later, Ilhan Omar has “amended” her financial disclosure statement and claims it was all a big accounting boo-boo.

An Omar disclosure filed last year showed she and her husband held assets of between $6 million and $30 million, a massive rise in wealth from her previous annual filing. That jump triggered questions among Republicans eager to scrutinize a critic of the president.

An amended filing viewed by The Wall Street Journal shows the couple’s assets to be just $18,004 to $95,000. The forms don’t require exact values, only broad ranges.

Omar’s husband, the former political consultant Tim Mynett, is involved with a variety of businesses. Those include a venture-capital management firm in Washington, D.C., and a winery in Santa Rosa, Calif., her disclosure forms show.

Those businesses had previously been listed as worth between $6 million and $30 million. In the amended filing, they are shown as having no value once liabilities are factored in.

Aides said that Omar looked at the form before it was filed in 2025, but that the error didn’t jump off the page for her because she isn’t involved with her husband’s businesses and she trusted the accuracy of the accountant who provided her husband’s figures.

“The amended disclosure confirms what we’ve said all along: The congresswoman is not a millionaire,” said Jacklyn Rogers, an Omar spokeswoman. “The congresswoman amended her disclosures voluntarily as soon as the discrepancy was identified.”

Omar’s amended filing shows between $102,503 and $1,005,200 in 2024 income from the assets she and her husband own. Documentation attached to the lawyer’s letter shows $213,200 in distributions to her husband from his venture-capital management firm in 2024 and $3,000 from the winery.

A 2025 email between Omar’s husband and his accountant states the venture capital management firm is valued at $7.9 million and the winery at $1.5 million. He owns roughly a third of both businesses, according to tax documents included with the lawyer’s letter.

The new disclosure shows Omar, 43 years old, has $15,001 to $50,000 in student debt and $15,001 to $50,000 in credit-card debt.

Yes, amendments to these financial disclosure statements are not unusual. However, the excuse that “my husband is a shitty businessman with massive liabilities” is rather unusual, especially considering the previous filing. All of this is the equivalent of Ilhan Omar putting a giant “AUDIT ME” sign on her husband’s back for the IRS. I’m sure Mynett’s accounting practices and billing statements are TOTALLY in line with what the IRS would expect… right? At least, any NORMAL person would expect a visit from the IRS after such a gigantic “oopsie” that goes from (at the minimum) $6 million to (at the maximum) $95,000.

And yet, Ilhan Omar expects the public to not question her “error” (yes, her accountants did the filing, but she would have had to sign it, and you might think the extra zeros would have caused her to ask some questions, but as we can see, she carries a lot of personal debt that should make anyone question her capability to be accountable with the American public’s money), and those who dare ask questions get the proverbial middle finger.

Far-left Rep. Ilhan Omar blew up at a reporter this week for asking questions about accounting “discrepancies” the Democrat blamed for overstating her net worth by millions of dollars on financial disclosure forms.

“Congresswoman Omar, the last time I spoke to you, you said I was stupid for asking about your financial disclosure, but there’s some discrepancies on there. Would you like to explain that? How did you make such a big mistake?” a Lindell TV reporter asked Omar on Tuesday.

“I think you’re stupid for asking me anything,” snapped the visibly annoyed Omar, a sarcastic smile plastered on her face.

“I don’t want to tell you jack s—t. How about that? Have a good day.”

Omar was a little more restrained when Charlamange tha God asked her about those same financial disclosures last week on his podcast, where she claimed Republicans were targeting her because the “base” demands it.

“Suggest all you want. Please investigate what you want, right? Like to me, I’m not like, I’m above the law and how dare you. You know, I understand politics. I understand what these people have to do in order to like feed their base,” Omar said on Wednesday.

The Republicans didn’t make you file that initial financial disclosure report, Ilhan. YOU did that. And now there are reports that after this amended filing, the LLC that owns the winery in California was dissolved. This is the same winery that apparently had a federal tax lien against it, dating back to 2021. So, if that LLC is gone, who owns the winery now? Where are its assets? Was there a division of assets among Mynett and his partners, and was there anything left after whatever liabilities were addressed – like a massive tax bill?

It seems that Ilhan Omar, in hitching herself to Tim Mynett, also married a whole lot of financial problems. Given her marital history, she might have better luck with the next husband. In the meantime, she is not above an IRS audit and some forensic accounting. I’m sure we haven’t heard the end of this story.
