Doug Wise, a former intel officer who was one of the 51 signatures on the letter that asserted the Hunter Biden laptop and emails were Russian disinformation, now says he was wrong.
Suddenly, the laptop and emails on said laptop are real. Doug Wise is a former Defense Intelligence Agency Deputy Director. He signed on to the October 10, 2020 letter with 50 other former intelligence weenies and claimed that these emails have “all the classic earmarks of a Russian misinformation operation.”
From Politico, who was handed that letter:
The letter, signed on Monday, centers around a batch of documents released by the New York Post last week that purport to tie the Democratic nominee to his son Hunter’s business dealings. Under the banner headline “Biden Secret E-mails,” the Post reported it was given a copy of Hunter Biden’s laptop hard drive by President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who said he got it from a Mac shop owner in Delaware who also alerted the FBI.
While the letter’s signatories presented no new evidence, they said their national security experience had made them “deeply suspicious that the Russian government played a significant role in this case” and cited several elements of the story that suggested the Kremlin’s hand at work.
“If we are right,” they added, “this is Russia trying to influence how Americans vote in this election, and we believe strongly that Americans need to be aware of this.”
In that letter, the signatories bluntly stated in black and white terms that this was a complete Russian disinfo operation with the implication that nothing about the emails nor the laptop were real. Not long after that, the NY Post was shut out of Twitter for over two weeks, and the rest of social media throttled any reporting about the emails and laptop.
But NOW, Doug Wise says the emails were real.
Despite the letter’s black-and-white statements, Wise — now retired from government service and listed on his LinkedIn page as the sole proprietor of New Mexico-based Southwest National Security Consultants LLC — insists that its critics, “whether they‘re members of the conservative journalist community, conservative politicians or just ultra-right wing extremists, they haven’t paid attention to the content.”
“I don’t regret signing it because the context is important,” he added. “Remember [former Mayor and Trump lawyer Rudy] Giuliani had just been in Ukraine trying to dig up evidence on the Bidens and he met with a known Russian intelligence official” — an apparent reference to pro-Moscow Ukrainian politician Andriy Derkach.
Wise further added speculation that the laptop’s “chain of custody” left it open to alteration.
“Russians or even ill-intended conservative elements could have planted stuff in there,” he said.
Oh, so the emails and the rest of the information on the laptop was real, they (all the intel weenies) knew it was likely real, but Doug is STILL on the someone could’ve altered the info to help the Russians gambit. In other words, he’s also saying that the Washington Post and New York Times, who finally showed up this last summer saying ‘hey look, the emails are real!’ is peddling in disinformation and probably altered data as well?

Amazingly, Wise stands behind his signature because of that “context.” You know, the context that the Biden family needed to be protected at all costs. The grift needed to be kept hidden from view. And most importantly, Trump is bad so let’s do everything we can, including censoring information, and tossing out your own version of disinformation in an attempt to sway the 2020 election.
Some of Doug’s fellow intel weenies still think the entire laptop and emails contained therein are Russian disinformation.
Doug Wise admits the letters and info on Hunter Biden’s laptop is real. But STILL insists the letter was necessary because Trump. The arrogance is just breathtaking.

Trump is bad. Why is Trump bad? No one ever explains that.
If this is the type of evidence that results in such sweeping accusations the US intelligence community needs a complete overhaul and serious downsizing. All ex employees must have their security clearances revoked.
Maybe he’d have a few regrets if he faced appropriate jail time for his crimes… but yeah, not holding my breath, with that simp Garland in charge of the DOJ…
