Former CDC Chief Redfield Believes Covid-19 Was Result Of Lab Leak

Robert Redfield, the former head of the CDC has always believed that Covid-19 was the result of a lab leak. In testimony he stated he’s more certain now than ever that the virus came from the Wuhan lab.

Former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Robert Redfield on Wednesday told an U.S. House of Representatives investigative subcommittee chaired by Ohio’s Brad Wenstrup that the COVID-19 global pandemic most likely resulted from an accidental lab leak in Wuhan, China, and didn’t spread to humans from animals.

Redfield said the Wuhan lab was studying the exact viral features that made COVID spread rapidly among humans as a way to develop vaccines to get ahead of viruses, and called for a moratorium on such “gain of function” research since it unleashed “a new virus on the world without any means of stopping it,” causing millions of deaths.

“If the decision is to continue with gain of function research, then it must be determined how and where to conduct that research in a safe, responsible and effective way,” Redfield told a new Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic chaired by Wenstrup, a Republican physician from Cincinnati.

As Redfield stated in his testimony, he’s held that belief since the very early days of Covid-19. The problem is, others involved in the Covid-19 response didn’t want to hear that.

As I wrote here just the other day, Anthony Fauci went to work pushing for a paper to be authored that explicitly stated that the virus happened in the wild, and it was improbable that it was from a lab leak. Fauci went on to assert that multiple times over the next three years to the media and under oath to Congress.

Any discussion of Covid coming from a lab leak by anyone, including Robert Redfield, was not only dismissed out of hand, but fact checked as false.

And now, we find out that Fauci and Collins worked to effectively sideline Redfield from any and all discussions regarding the origins and response to Covid-19.

Former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Robert Redfield told lawmakers Wednesday that Dr. Anthony Fauci “sidelined” him from internal debates about the origin of COVID-19 at the start of the pandemic, saying the former White House chief medical adviser did not appreciate Redfield’s support for the so-called “lab leak theory.”

“This was an a priori decision that there’s one point of view that we’re going to put out there, and anyone who doesn’t agree with it is going to be sidelined,” Redfield said at a hearing of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic. “And as I say, I was only the CDC director, and I was sidelined.”

Of course, when asked, Fauci denied it.

This survey is highly interesting in terms of the results.

On the leak, 67% said they “already believed” it came from “the Wuhan lab,” a claim made in the early days of the crisis by former President Donald Trump but dismissed in the media. Just 20% said they were surprised when an Energy Department and the FBI fingered the lab leak as the likely source of the virus.

On masks, 49% said that they “already believed” that they didn’t work before the recent reports that masks were ineffective. Some 35% said they were surprised.

And 65% suspected that U.S. officials were involved in the “cover-up” to hide “China’s role” in the pandemic. House Republicans are looking into ex-virus czar Anthony Fauci’s ties to China and the lab.

Overall, just 43% gave a good grade to U.S. public health officials for the handling of the virus, while 55% graded them fair to poor, and just 1% were not sure.

The public health experts have seriously damaged their credibility in this country. If they have any left, they are hanging on to it by a thread.

Meanwhile, this from Redfield’s testimony today also, in my opinion, points to the lab as the problem.

Redfield said he was skeptical that the virus had passed from animals to humans because most viruses that humans catch that way have difficulty spreading from human to human, whereas coronavirus was wildly infectious between humans. He said he was also skeptical of the theory that COVID-19 came from bats because it can now hardly replicate in bats.

He said he felt the lab leak coronavirus origin hypothesis needed to be investigated in addition to the theory that it spread from animals to humans, and said he was disappointed that he was excluded from conversations about the disease’s origin with a group of 11 global scientific leaders that included Fauci because “they wanted a single narrative and that I obviously had a different point of view.”

Add this about three highly suspicious events at the lab in 2019…

Redfield wanted to pursue an investigation covering BOTH hypothesis, but Fauci and others shut him down. As we’ve learned these last few years, different points of view on Covid, vaccines, immunity, lockdowns, and more weren’t allowed, to the detriment of us all.
