Flynn Case Officially Dropped By DOJ

In a move that surprised no rational person as more gory details came to light, the Department of Justice officially filed paperwork to drop the case against former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.

Yes, Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI back in December of 2017. But as time has gone on, the circumstances have been revealed to be increasingly shady. This eventually drove Flynn to seek to withdraw his guilty plea last January.

Today, the DOJ ended a case that looks like it was a set-up from the very minute the “7th floor” got involved.

The court filing can be read here, but everyone knew that the DOJ, in light of all the recent revelations, was likely to drop the case.

Breadcrumbs were being dropped in the days preceding the decision that his case could be reconsidered. Documents unsealed a week ago by the Justice Department revealed agents discussed their motivations for interviewing him in the Russia probe—questioning whether they wanted to “get him to lie” so he’d be fired or prosecuted, or get him to admit wrongdoing. Flynn allies howled over the revelations, arguing that he was essentially set up in a perjury trap. In that interview, Flynn did not admit wrongdoing and instead was accused of lying about his contacts with the then-Russian ambassador – to which he pleaded guilty.”

The latest DOJ filing stated noted Flynn’s false statement plea pertains to a crime that requires a statement “to be not simply false, but ‘materially’ false with respect to a matter under investigation.” The filing said the government “is not persuaded that the January 24, 2017 interview was conducted with a legitimate investigative basis and therefore does not believe Mr. Flynn’s statements were material even if untrue.”

President Trump had things to say – surprising no one.

The left is now becoming unglued about this turn of events, despite all the evidence that the FBI under the likes of James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, and Lisa Page were good with setting up Flynn. Leave any and all personal feelings about Michael Flynn aside. Is this really how we want the FBI to operate? Professory Jonathan Turley says the dismissal had to happen, and now reflects badly on Robert Mueller.

So naturally, James Comey had to open his big mouth.

I’m sorry, come again? The more of this crap that gets released, the worse the former FBI leadership looks. Comey, who is nothing if not a gigantic ball of oblivious ego, was the head of the FBI when this all went down. When does he get hauled in to answer some questions? When will McCabe, Strzok, and Page be brought back in to account for their actions here? Michael Flynn was financially ruined in this process, his son threatened with prosecution, and let’s not even get into the man hours wasted on this case. Will anyone be held accountable for this? The dropping of the case by the DOJ should only be the beginning, not the end.

Hopefully this is just the beginning of the draining of the swamp! In a just world, besides the ones you mention a certain shrew in a pantsuit ends up modeling “Orange is the new black”…

Thank you Victory Girls for Flynn support!

I will finally rest easy when ValJar, Comey, Brennen, Clapper, McCabe, Strzok, and Page are perp-walked in orange jumpsuits into a white prison van after sentencing.

Obama, of course, orchestrated this not-so-subtle coup, but even Barr knows that is bridge too far.

MSNBC, CNN, Nadler, Schiff and other assorted crazies are running around with their hair on fire claiming that this is the end of the rule of law. What fools. They know that what the FBI and DoJ did to Flynn was obscene. If anyone tried to do it to them, they would tell you so. I really want to Nadler call Barr and try to spar with him. Nadler would be a puddle just oozing out of the room when it was over. Nadler has neither the guts nor the idiocy to get himself into that fix.

The more of this crap that gets released, the worse the former FBI leadership career people looks.
    Fixed to reflect Comey’s tweet.

Will anyone be held accountable for this?
Probably not until judgment day. Unless, of course, the people take it into their own hands.

Direct, personal, harsh consequences for the people involved is the only way to stop this crap.
