Just when one thinks we’ve heard it all, another horrific story of abuse, assault, or rape in Hollywood swims to the surface.

In the space of one day we find out that Jann Wenner and Louis C.K. are slime. We also find out that Ellen Page and Anthony Edwards were victims.

Ellen Page wrote her story on Facebook. Warning, language alert:

“You should fuck her to make her realize she’s gay.” He said this about me during a cast and crew “meet and greet” before we began filming, X Men: The Last Stand. I was eighteen years old. He looked at a woman standing next to me, ten years my senior, pointed to me and said: “You should fuck her to make her realize she’s gay.” He was the film’s director, Brett Ratner.

Read the rest. It will anger you and it will sadden you.

Here’s a question: Ellen was abused and outed in a horrible way by Ratner. The cast and crew were witness to all he did throughout the entire shoot.

Someone want to explain why Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman didn’t speak up and shut Ratner down?? Their silence is SHAMEFUL.

Next we find out that Jann Wenner, of the failing Rolling Stone magazine, attacked a male writer. When the writer, Ben Ryan tried to leave, Wenner did the following:

Thursday, August 11, 2005. Last night Jann Wenner asked me to come to his townhouse for a drink at 10:30 p.m. I knew this would happen sooner or later, I just didn’t think he’d take such a direct approach. It was the most pure form of sexual harassment: he pawed and groped and I insisted no but he persisted promising me a “25 article contract” in the most disingenuous voice. “Preferential treatment.” I was forced to kiss him. His mouth was dry and he was a serpent-like kisser, lashing with his tongue. After 90 minutes I left dignity relatively intact.

Vile. Just VILE.

Louis C.K. is a sexual predator.

Well, fine. I’m sure that makes all his victims feel ever so much better.

Anthony Edwards.

Terrific in Top Gun and in ER.

And who could forget Revenge of the Nerds??!!

So imagine the shock when he published the following on Medium yesterday.

When I was 14 years old, my mother opened the door for me to answer honestly about the rumors she had heard about Gary Goddard — who was my mentor, teacher and friend — being a pedophile. I denied it through tears of complete panic. To face that truth was not an option as my sense of self was completely enmeshed in my gang of five friends who were all led by this sick father figure. I met Goddard when I was 12, and he quickly became a dominant force in my life. He taught me about the value of acting, respect for friendship, and the importance of studying. Pedophiles prey on the weak. My father, who suffered from undiagnosed PTSD from WWII, was not emotionally available. Everyone has the need to bond, and I was no exception. My vulnerability was exploited. I was molested by Goddard, my best friend was raped by him — and this went on for years. The group of us, the gang, stayed quiet.

Edwards and the others kept silent for YEARS because of the shame and because they felt so isolated. As Anthony Edwards points out: secrecy and shame, and most of all FEAR, are tools the abuser uses to keep the abused and assaulted quiet. It works far too often.

In regards to Hollywood, it’s becoming glaringly evident that movie making has been a vehicle that allows abusers of all stripes to freely roam around and destroy lives.

Well, now people who were afraid to talk and thought what happened to them was their fault are finally talking. They are shining an incredibly bright light of shame onto the ABUSERS.

For everyone that has been abused, assaulted, or raped by someone in power, there is hope. Anthony Edwards eloquently states what every victim should know:

I did not go from being a victim to a survivor alone. No one does. I had to ask for help, and I am so grateful that I did.
