Oops, he did it again.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Donald Trump lashed out at rival Carly Fiorina, but instead of attacking her political positions, he attacked her looks:

“Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president? I mean, she’s a woman, and I’m not s’posedta say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?”

Carly Fiorina responded to Trump’s assertions — with well-chosen words, something which The Donald apparently has not mastered.

Fiorina was unfazed, and why should she be bothered? She is a woman who was fired as CEO of Hewlett-Packard, has faced breast cancer, and experienced the loss of a step-daughter. She can handle the schoolyard tauntings of a rival who clearly feels threatened by her rise in the polls. As the old World War II bomber saying goes, “You know you’re over the target when you’re taking on flak.”

I seriously would question the rabid Trump supporters as to why they insist on supporting a man who clearly has no filter on his mouth? If he insults a rival presidential candidate on her looks, how will he behave as President towards another woman world leader, such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel?

I know what the defense will be: “He fights!” So what? So do my cats.

Yes, Trump fights. So does Ted Cruz when taking on what he calls the “Washington Cartel.” So does Scott Walker when he takes on the unions in Wisconsin as governor. ‘Fighting’ does not mean acting like a seventh-grade boy who judges women on the size of their breasts and giggles at the name “Lake Titicaca.”

If Trump uttered those same words he aimed at Carly Fiorina towards another man’s wife or mother, that man — if he were a red-blooded American male — would want to punch him out. So why would anyone still think Donald Trump has the temperament to be president?

UPDATE: Trump spoke by phone on Fox and Friends this morning, addressing the Fiorina flap. He didn’t dispute that he said those words, but claimed they were made in a “jocular” manner, referring to her “persona.” “Probably I did say something like that about Carly,” he said. “I’m talking about persona. I’m not talking about look.” He pointed out, “When I get criticized constantly about my hair, nobody does a story about ‘Oh isn’t that terrible, they criticized Donald Trump’s hair.'”

Right. The people making those remarks are the public and the pundits, not any of the Republican candidates. Mr. Trump, the one taking the personal cheap shot at a fellow candidate is you. And ‘jocular’ remarks about Fiorina’s ‘persona?’ If anyone believes that, could I interest them in a bridge? They could borrow some of Donald Trump’s money. He’s always telling us how rich he is.
