This is becoming old hat for the Biden administration. When Americans find themselves stranded in a foreign country, the Biden team has been zero help in getting them home. So, here comes Ron DeSantis once again.
It is worth noting that under the Biden administration, 11 American embassies have been partially or fully evacuated. When an embassy is shut down, it means that American citizens have nowhere to go in a crisis situation – something we all saw play out with stark horror during the administration’s disastrous withdrawl from Afghanistan. As we just learned this week when the now-retired generals testified to the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the State Department has no idea how many Americans were left behind, not to mention those Afghans who had been working with Americans – or how many have been hunted down and killed since we left.

Top. Men.
You would think that after the debacle of Afghanistan, the Biden administration would have been more aware about Americans needing a quick exit and providing more assistance. Well, no. Remember that Americans were stuck in Israel after October 7th when commercial flights were shut down. The Biden administration was willing to help – sort of. The State Department was willing to charter flights out of Israel, but it would cost you – and you would promptly dump people off in Europe to find their own way home after that. Enter Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who partnered up with the non-profit Project DYNAMO to bring stranded Americans back to Florida.
Well, Haiti has now become the latest disaster zone, and the Biden administration has evacuated “non-essential personnel” from the embassy there. Other Americans in Haiti? You’re on your own. Where have we heard THAT before???
BREAKING: US State Department says it is not "actively planning" evacuation efforts for any Americans still in Haiti.

Now, Haiti is not exactly a resort destination. Many of the stranded Americans are missionaries or humanitarian workers, trying to help the people of Haiti with practical or medical needs. For the State Department to essentially say “we told you not to go” is insensitive and callous to both the Americans who have been working in Haiti, and the Haitian people themselves. Which means, once again, it is up to others to independently do what the Biden administration won’t do. Governor Ron DeSantis announced that he would be arranging flights out of Haiti to bring Americans back to Florida, and the first flight arrived on Wednesday evening.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a news conference at the Orlando Sanford International Airport prior to the passengers’ arrival.
“This will be the first of probably many flights to bring people, U.S. citizens, Florida residents obviously, who are in harm’s way given what’s going on in Haiti,” DeSantis said at a news conference.
“Resources are here. People are going to be able to get what they need in a variety of ways, and we think that that’s important,” DeSantis said.
Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie also spoke alongside the governor.
He spoke on how dangerous rescuing people from Haiti has been, saying the process has been difficult.
“It is a very complicated process,” Guthrie said.
“We were originally scheduled to do four flights today. I’m proud to say that we’re going to get one done,” Guthrie said.
“We have a lot of people who have gone there to help people. It’s very troubled and had been a troubled country for a long time. Things, of course, have taken a turn for the worse,” DeSantis said. “There have been a lot of people in the United States but specifically in Florida, (who) have really gone over there to help people who are much less fortunate. That’s noble, but these are folks who need our help now, because the situation has become very dire.”
The first flight that arrived had only 14 passengers, but that number included eight children. Additional flights are planned for today – if they can get off the ground.
Officials said 554 U.S. citizens have reached out asking to be flown out and 378 of those are Floridians.
They hope to do four flights on Thursday, but Guthrie said they are already running into challenges.
“I would say it’s worse in a warzone. It was actually easier to get people in and out of Israel than it is to get people in and out of Haiti,” Guthrie said.
In addition to the flights arranged by DeSantis, Representative Cory Mills (R-FL), who also helped Americans leave Israel last October, with help from Representative Lisa McClain (R-MI), got orphanage workers out of Haiti. Mills has now gotten 23 Americans out of the country.
It’s with great pride I announce that our team successfully conducted another rescue of 13 Americans out of PAP Haiti. Our team has now successfully rescued and evacuated more Americans than Biden and his entire administration.

The complete tweet reads:

Americans deserve support from their government. Not the pattern of abandonment this administration has shown.
Haiti has been a mess for a very long time. The Biden administration is trying to cover their butts by claiming that people have been told not to go there, while leaving those who were trying to do some good in Haiti out to dry. Taking non-essential personnel out of the embassy, and then telling American citizens in the country that they are out of luck, has become a predictable pattern for the Biden State Department. It shouldn’t be up to individual congressmen like Cory Mills or governors like Ron DeSantis to do the actual work that the Biden administration won’t. But that’s where we are with Joe Biden in charge.

Gee, if only we had a military with large planes that could safely get people out of harm’s way.
Once again Ron DeSantis shows us what real leadership looks like. The campaign ads write themselves. But Republican primary voters like mean tweets more than real leadership.
He should have been our nominee for president. But nooo ….!
“Owning the libs” is of greater importance to the Trump base than actual executive competence.
