UPDATED: Yesterday, several college Presidents testified in front of Congress. According to all of them, ‘It Depends.’ In other words, context is very necessary before deciding if protestors speech is actually antisemitic hate speech.
Claudine Gay of Harvard University, Liz Magill of the University of Pennsylvania and Sally Kornbluth of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology acknowledged Tuesday to lawmakers on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce that antisemitism was a growing problem at their schools.
The leaders said they are taking steps to combat hate, including beefing up security on campuses and taking action against anyone who harasses or discriminates against students, faculty or staff. They also said their schools want to ensure the safety of their students while still protecting free speech.
“The right to free speech does not extend to harassment, discrimination or incitement to violence in our community,” Kornbluth said.
However, when you actually WATCH their testimony, each one of them refuses to condemn hate speech.
The exact response from @Harvard University president Claudine Gay to the question from Chairwoman @virginiafoxx during today's Congressional hearing, "Do you believe that Israel has the right to exist as a Jewish nation" was: "I agree that the state of Israel has the right to…

You see, it depends upon HOW the words are uttered. Was violence involved? Then maybe perhaps it was antisemitic hate speech. Again, it really depends upon the context of the phrasing according to our Ivy League betters.
Bill Ackman, a Harvard graduate and long-time donor who rescinded his donations over Harvard’s refusal to condemn Hamas blasted the Ivy League yesterday.
None of the school leaders explicitly said that calling for the genocide of Jews would necessarily violate their code of conduct. Instead, they explained it would depend on the circumstances and conduct.
“They must all resign in disgrace. If a CEO of one of our companies gave a similar answer, he or she would be toast within the hour,” Ackman said on X. “The answers they gave reflect the profound moral bankruptcy of Presidents Gay, Magill and Kornbluth.”
In response to Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik asking whether calling for the genocide of Jews would violate Penn’s code of conduct, Penn President Liz Magill said: “It is a context dependent decision.”
It was absolutely crystal clear that NONE of them wanted to outright condemn Hamas for their genocidal October 7 attack on Israel. Moreover, if they could’ve, it was pretty obvious that they wanted to condemn Israel for having the temerity to defend themselves!
These are the same universities that are now applauding segregated dorms. You see, according to MIT’s President Dr. Sally Kornbluff, students are CHOOSING voluntarily to be segregated and it’s not exclusionary, but a positive selection. Yes, she REALLY testified to that yesterday. Furthermore, all three refused to say Yes or No as to if they’d scrap DEI/CRT if there was a link found between that and the pro-Hamas hate festering on their campuses today.
It isn’t just Penn, MIT, and Harvard who refuse to condemn Hamas and protect Jewish students.
"I should not be here today…I should be taking in…my senior year of college…I am because 36 hours ago, I, along with most of campus, sought refuge in our rooms as classmates and professors chanted proudly for the genocide of Jews. " – @Penn student Eyal Yakoby pic.twitter.com/fg4InUKj3Q

Nope, it’s across the entire university spectrum. A professor, Omer Bartov, at Brown University, has claimed that it is ISRAEL that is operating with genocidal intent and claimed just last week that it is Israel’s fault that Hamas had to attack on October 7.
Columbia University was going to ALLOW an event scheduled for today that would actually honor HAMAS and called the attack a “counteroffensive.” Yes, really.
We will be having our second teach-in this Wednesday the 6th at 12pm, in room C-03 of the Social Work building! We will discuss the significance of the Palestinian counteroffensive on October 7th and the centrality of revolutionary violence to anti-imperialism. See y’all there! pic.twitter.com/PnAwMQwIx2

I say “was” because someone in the Columbia U Administration got a clue and put the kibosh on this event. Yet, if there hadn’t been pushback, it is a fair bet the event would be taking place as I write this. Why? Because across the college and university spectrum only FOUR PERCENT of those schools condemned the atrocities that Hamas committed on October 7. FOUR PERCENT.
The study examined university responses to Hamas’s terror attack and juxtaposed them with statements issued in the wake of the 2020 murder of George Floyd and the 2021 murder of six Asian women in Atlanta.
“While 100% of statements named racism and anti-Asian hate as the motivator of their respective incidents, and more than 90% committed to addressing bigotry directed against Blacks and Asians/Asian Americans, only 4% of statements identified the antisemitic motivation of the Hamas attack (despite Hamas’ public expressions of genocidal intent) and a mere 2% committed to addressing antisemitism,” according to AMCHA’s summary of its findings.
Is it any wonder that Jewish students are fearful for their safety on campus?
Remarkable exchange:@RepKiley: If you were talking to a prospective Jewish student's family right now, could you look them in the eye and tell them that their son or daughter would be safe & feel safe & welcome on your campus?

Harvard pres. Gay won't give a yes-or-no answer. pic.twitter.com/sNTBCtPVet
Remember, Cooper Union students were told to hide in the attic when a pro-Palestinian mob tried to break into the college library.
It was ok for all the universities to virtue signal with all the George Floyd riots, proudly fly the BLM flags as well as the Ukrainian flag. But to provide support for Israel and condemn Hamas? That’s just a bridge too far for these institutions.
According to them, THEY get to decide what is and isn’t evil in terms of seeing it, speaking it, or hearing it. Anything to do with Israel and Hamas slaughtering men, women and children is verboten. Anything to do with condemning Hamas for the brutal rapes and the taking of babies, women (including a Holocaust survivor) and others hostage either can’t be allowed and the violence inflicted upon innocents must be given “context.” A Harvard law professor believes this is acceptable.
Accusing Jewish people of warmongering by pushing back against denials (which are apparent in your own mentions) of well-documented rapes is gaslighting on an unfathomable level.

This is what is on our campuses today. Therefore I urge our readers to take time to watch the entirety of this hearing.
Only then can one fully understand the extent of the insidiousness and hate that is permeating today’s colleges and universities. The students are learning from the administrators and professors.
I’ll tell you what the “context” of all of this is. Too many of today’s colleges and universities are cesspools of hatred and the rot starts at the top. It is shameful and must be called out at every turn.
UPDATE: It seems we misunderstood Harvard President Gay’s “context” of her remarks.
President Gay had three opportunities to say this under oath to the United States Congress.

She declined to do so each time.
Exactly. She had PLENTY of opportunity to say this under oath and took the coward’s way out. Meanwhile UPenn and MIT along with far too many others are staying silent.
