It’s laughable how China is spinning the COVID-19 pandemic yet again. Yesterday, Chinese officials said relations with the United States were “on the brink of a new Cold War”, fueled in part by tensions over the coronavirus pandemic.

It has come to our attention that some political forces in the US are taking China-US relations hostage and pushing our two countries to the brink of a new Cold War.”-Foreign Minister Wang Yi

AFP states that Minister Wang Yi said Washington was manufacturing a “political virus” and called out President Trump for “accusing Beijing for lack of transparency”. You think?

Wang Yi also blasted U.S. politicians who are “fabricating rumors about the virus origin and stigmatizing China”. Stating that the country is “open to working with the international scientific community to look into the source of the virus” in a “profession, fair and constructive manner”.

And, there we have it. Media outlets continuing to paint China as the innocent, transparent communist country that they are. Beijing knew what was happening in NOVEMBER but lied to the World Health Organization, who in turn, covered up for China after-the-fact all while they prevented medical professionals from inside of their country to supply the community with information about the origins of the virus. All while they prevented individuals from other medical communities from entering their borders to do research. Sounds pretty damn transparent to me.

While China closed its borders to travelers, individuals were allowed to depart from Wuhan to various destinations around the world, thus unleashing and inflicting the novel coronavirus on the world. Just when Wuhan went back to “business as usual”, America was only beginning to feel the pain of COVID-19. We saw increasing infection rates, deaths and the biggest economic downturn since the Great Depression.

But we were racist and xenophobic for calling a virus that came from China a “Chinese Virus”. And now, to add insult upon injury, Foreign Minister Wang Yi wants to say America is manufacturing a “political virus” putting us on the brink of Cold War with his country? A country that has lied to us time and time again and covered up a pandemic? Um, no.

Is the virus political? Sure. Have a bunch of politicians in the U.S. used the virus for political gain? Absolutely. In fact, this “political virus” in the name of strict, ridiculous lockdowns and some social distancing measures that do not make much sense at all may have cost more lives than it actually saved. This, according to Michael Levitt, a Stanford University Nobel laureate Scientist:

I think lockdown saved no lives. I think it may have cost lives. It will have saved a few road accident lives – things like that – but social damage – domestic abuse, divorces, alcoholism – has been extreme. And then you have those who were not treated for other conditions.”-Michael Levitt

Economic stress. Social isolation. Decreased access to community and religious support. Barriers to mental health treatment. Illness and medical problems. Outcomes of national anxiety. Healthcare professional suicide rates. These are just a few of the factors impacting our xenophobic and racist Americans who clearly manufactured a “political virus” that China had nothing at all to do with. Do you see what Wang Yi did there? We’re the reason for any impending Cold War with China.

Evidence of human-to-human transmission since the beginning of December but denial that the virus spread trough human-to-human transmission until January 20, 2020. China also attempted to bury all traces of the disease at home. They bleached the wet market stalls, censored the growing evidence of asymptomatic carriers of the virus and stonewalled other countries’ requests for samples. Yet, we’re the ones who are manufacturing a “political virus”? We’re the ones putting the countries on a brink of a new Cold War?

I sincerely hope we come out of this stronger and better. I sincerely hope that there are some Americans out there who don’t believe this bat guano-laden Cold War B.S. that Minister Wang Yi is spewing. When it comes to manufacturing, China has manufactured a big jalopy of a LIE here and I honestly pray we can dig ourselves out from the destruction. Minister Wang Yi-your country’s sheer lack of transparency has brought us to the brink of economic and psychological collapse. Excuse us if we’re not big fans of China right now. And if some Americans think our anger makes us racist and xenophobic for questioning the motives of China in all of this, then we’re suffering from a bigger virus than COVID-19.
