Byron Donalds to Steer the GOP Wagon

Byron Donalds let it be known over the weekend exactly what he got out of the deal for changing his vote back to Kevin McCarthy for Speaker. I believe it to be the beginning of good news to come.

On the Sunday morning rounds, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Florida) said he would be placed on the House Republican Steering Committee. I believe this is something all of us can get behind.

At first, Donalds was all for McCarthy but soon swapped his vote to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) before he was nominated for the position by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado).

After standing as one of the key holdouts in his caucus’ campaign against House Speaker-elect Kevin McCarthy last week, Donalds, a Florida Republican, recently revealed McCarthy moved to place him on the Republican House Steering Committee, presumably replacing McCarthy ally and Freedom Caucus rival Representative Mike Rogers of Alabama, who announced his resignation from the committee on Monday. – Nick Reynolds, Newsweek

Water under the bridge

Eventually, Mr. Donalds changed his vote back to Kevin McCarthy. Republicans take their seats and new positions in the 118th Congress, and work gets underway.

The committee’s purpose is to assign fellow Republicans to other House committees. Donalds noted that his appointment to the Steering Committee was an important step to having “more [Republican] voices on more committees.” – Fox News

Amen, amen, I say to you! Yes. It’s about time. I feel a huge sigh of relief over this news.

We get into the crux of the matter at the six-minute mark in the above video. Will Joe Biden be investigated? It is said that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Rep. James Comer (R-Kentucky) will lead investigations into the Department of Justice and the Biden family.

In fact, it appears the Committee came out swinging on Monday with its first surprise by denying Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) the House Homeland Security Committee chair. Instead, they are going with Tennessee Representative Mark Green.

Well now, that certainly was a surprise. This new leadership will be engaging. It will be a mixtape of eclectic styles, for sure.

Mr. Donalds gives me confidence the future of the GOP is in good hands and that getting on with doing the work of the American people.

Byron Donalds started his politics within the Tea Party movement. After a failed attempt at a first run at the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012, Donalds was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2016. In one of his earlier political ads, he described himself as a”“Trump-supporting, gun-owning, liberty-loving, pro-life, politically incorrect Black man“”

Perhaps being in D.C. for the last couple of years is evolving the politician a little. He is a solid leader for the GOP. We are going to witness extraordinary things from Byron Donalds.
