It’s official. Elon Musk has purchased Twitter. And hoo boy, the tantrums, drama and absurd hot takes from the Blue Check Brigade has been an illuminating train wreck.
There really isn’t enough popcorn in the world for this show!
Elon Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion on Monday, the company announced, giving the world’s richest person command of one of its most influential social media sites — which serves as a platform for political leaders, a sounding board for experts across industries and an information hub for millions of everyday users.
The acquisition followed weeks of evangelizing on the necessity of “free speech,” as the Tesla CEO seized on Twitter’s role as the “de facto town square” and took umbrage with content moderation efforts he views as an escalation toward censorship. He said he sees Twitter as essential to the functioning of democracy and said the economics are not a concern.
Ownership of Twitter gives Musk power over hugely consequential societal and political issues, perhaps most significantly the ban on former president Donald Trump that the website enacted in response to the Jan. 6 riots.
*Sigh. The Washington Post along with every other media outlet are part and parcel of the tantrum throwing Blue Check Brigade.
The NAACP has leapt into the fray!
NAACP statement: "Mr. Musk: free speech is wonderful, hate speech is unacceptable. Disinformation, misinformation and hate speech have NO PLACE on Twitter. Do not allow 45 to return to the platform. Do not allow Twitter to become a petri dish for hate speech."

Has the NAACP been hiding under a rock?? Folks, get a freaking grip! No matter which way you slice it, spending $44 billion just to get a former President back on the platform is a stupid move. Elon Musk isn’t stupid. Far from it.
He’s looking at the larger picture. He’s looking at what he can do to IMPROVE the platform!
But the Blue Check Brigade thinks the rest of us are stupid. The reactions are as follows:
Twitter is dead
I’ll resign from Twitter! James Woods (who has been banned multiple times) wonders who will be packing to move to Canada.
Here’s how to deactivate your account, as if no one understands how to navigate Twitter settings?
Twitter is no longer the platform for free speech – as if it was these last few years?? I know of at least 30 people who’ve been banned and that list doesn’t include Donald Trump!
Twitter will now turn into a cesspool flooded with Covid deniers and anti-vaxxers. Yes, I laughed loudly at that one.
Oh wait, this one is fun! Musk shouldn’t be trusted with the “future of our democracy.” Why? Because not having a Master’s Degree should’ve disqualified him from buying Twitter. You really can’t make this shit up!
Politico came up with a doozy of a headline!
World’s richest man buys ‘free speech’ for $44 billion
Elon Musk didn’t like how Twitter moderates speech. So he bought it
The ENTIRE implication from Politico is that Elon Musk will decide who can and cannot use the platform. The Blue Check Brigade has been warning of this for days. The Blue Checks whining about this want us to believe mute and block has the same meaning as banning. It. Does. Not.
In addition, Musk has said he’s considering auditing an “edit button” to Twitter, adding in an interview last week that a way to reduce abuse of the feature could be to “zero out” retweets and favorites when a tweet is edited.
Musk has said he’s looking to make Twitter’s algorithm publicly available online in order to address concerns of some users who claim certain tweets are unfairly promoted or demoted.
“I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans,” Musk said in a statement on Monday.
Does that sound like the nefarious plans of a person who abhors free speech? I didn’t think so.
The people whining in vaunted terms about Elon Musk's Twitter takeover aren't really concerned about militants, hate and state-sponsored psyops, they simply do not want debate to occur where they think they'll lose.

Quite frankly, the Blue Check Brigade’s tantrums over this purchase show us one thing and one thing only. They firmly believed the platform was theirs. It belonged to THEM and they were in charge of who got to be in the cool kids group.

Elon Musk doesn’t give a damn about their schtick, and they hate that.
That all of this happened because Twitter suspended @TheBabylonBee is just so great

Some Blue Checks don’t like that Elon has the money to buy Twitter (he’s TOO RICH), but were fine with Jeff Bezos buying the Washington Post, until today that is.
The media meltdown is truly a joy to watch, especially when you have CNN’s Brian ‘Tater’ Stelter warning us that total freedom of speech on Twitter is, very problematic.
The White House is tap dancing and trying to figure out which way to spin, and doing it badly.

A pivot within a fence straddle accompanied by SPIN! Again, there’s not enough popcorn in the world for these theatrics!
Iowahawk on Twitter is a true gem.
I felt a strange disturbance in The Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and then nothing happened, but they kept right on crying out in terror for no apparent reasonhttps://t.co/ujAW8kwW9N

The deal doesn’t close for six months. Get your popcorn but wait for the real fun.

Ah, not quite nothing. The Left is incapable of persuasion. Its allegiants cannot defend their convictions with evidence and reasoning. This is characteristic of the Left and has been for a century. (“The Fascists cannot argue, so they kill.” — VIctor Marguerite, “Man’s Search For Meaning”) So they must have coercive power to deny a platform to those who disagree with them — and they can’t be mollified by guaranteeing their freedom to say what they wish.
Losing the power to control Twitter is the largest blow the Left has suffered in some time. I await its next move.
