Bernie Bros Begin To Show Cracks In Biden Unity

While the liberal media is solidly united in its anti-Trump messaging, the Democrats are starting to show stress fractures in their unity. The Bernie Bros are beginning to get vocal about their dissatisfaction with Team Biden.

The first public fissure in the mask of unification is over Medicare For All. Obviously, the Bernie contingent wants a Democrat platform plank that expresses support for Medicare For All. While Team Biden has paid lip service to a LOT of Bernie policies, this is one plank they ain’t gonna walk yet. This made the Bernie delegates involved in crafting the platform very unhappy – as in, unhappy enought to tweet out Biden campaign co-chair Denis McDonough’s Zoom meeting clip announcing that the vote to change the wording in the Democratic party platform had failed.

This has kicked off a new petition – I swear, the left does love their petitions – to get delegates to the Democratic convention to vote down the adoption of the party platform.

Nearly 400 Democratic delegates plan to oppose any party platform that does not include “Medicare for All,” saying the coronavirus pandemic illustrates the urgency.”

“This pandemic has shown us that our private health insurance system does not work for the American people. Millions of people have lost their jobs and their health care at the same time,” Judith Whitmer, a delegate for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) who chairs the convention’s Nevada delegation, told Politico. “There’s people leaving the hospital now with millions of dollars in medical bills. What are we going to do about that?”

The pledge, signed by more than 60 delegates, predominantly Sanders supporters, notes that “millions of Americans have lost their healthcare insurance because of those job losses at a time when healthcare is needed most” and that “the Democratic Party and their Platform Committee process has failed, to date, to incorporate a clear and progressive platform plank for Medicare-For-All for adoption by the 2020 National Convention.”

I’m a little unclear on how the math works – if only 60 delegates have signed it, how are 400 delegates planning to not vote for it? Hmmm. It’s a good thing that the convention has been significantly scaled down, because there is a high likelihood that a floor vote over Medicare For All would end up sounding very familiar.

Regardless, the Bernie Bros are still pledging their support to Biden. However, it’s becoming more and more obvious that they are holding their nose to do so.

Nina Turner, a co-chair of the Sanders campaign, told me she has no appetite for the choice she faces: “It’s like saying to somebody, ‘You have a bowl of shit in front of you, and all you’ve got to do is eat half of it instead of the whole thing.’ It’s still shit.”

Well, if that doesn’t that just scream unity and happiness and rainbows and butterflies, I don’t know what does.

Now, Trump and the RNC need to play this right. The split between the Bernie Bros and Team Biden is only going to become bigger, not smaller, especially as the hardcore anarchists and Antifa thugs continue to terrorize blue cities in the hopes of holding the country hostage by violence until Trump is no longer president. As the terror tactics become too difficult for even a compliant media to hide, Democrats are starting to worry about the backfire effect. Having fed the monster, they have suddenly realized that they can’t control it. If Team Trump can keep pushing ads like this that highlight the law and order issue, it will be an effective tool for him.

The rioting on the streets and the assaults on police are winning no one in the center over to the side of the left. The liberals have lost control of the left, and it’s now coming back to haunt them.
