Bash The Billionaires And New York City Could Lose $12 Billion Or More

Mamdani thought he would be applauded for pandering to his Democrat Socialist grifter pals. But reality WILL bite, and it won’t be pretty. Mamdani’s billionaire bashing could cost New York City $12 billion in revenue, or more.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s hostile stance toward New York City businesses could jeopardize $12 billion in GDP — triggering a “death spiral” in the city’s finances as the young socialist blows off billionaire Ken Griffin moving jobs south, insiders warn.

Dire data exclusively provided to The Post by the Partnership for New York City shows the coalition’s 300 corporate and financial firms that have created nearly a million jobs, as well as contribute $13.5 billion in taxes and generate $370 billion to the city’s GDP every year.

The windfall for the Big Apple, however, could be endangered if growth declines even a modest amount, according to the data — a growing prospect if a feared exodus of billionaires fleeing the socialist mayor gains steam.

“The numbers don’t lie,” said Steve Fulop, the business group’s president and CEO.

“New York’s private sector has invested billions and created hundreds of thousands of jobs. You can only treat job creators like the enemy for so long before they stop creating jobs here. The far left can run on socialism all day, but cities run on tax revenue — and tax revenue requires businesses that actually want to be here.”

Ken Griffin’s Citadel Capital employs upwards of 5,000 people. His plans to build a new high rise will employ more. Those are DIRECT employees. That doesn’t include the vendors the company uses for those hidden overhead issues, such as janitorial services, landscaping, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, window washing, and more. That also doesn’t include the money the employees themselves spend with their homes, property taxes, groceries, vehicles and vehicle maintenance, dry cleaning, child care, and so on.

The very envious socialists look at those who are successful and all they see is the dollar signs. They do not see or refuse to see how much these awful billionaires contribute to their communities in so many other ways. Which includes charitable contributions to schools, hospitals, and more. Instead, let’s vilify them for being rich.

In 2019, recently elected Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) famously helped union activists and others block Amazon’s plans to build a second headquarters in New York. That cost the city 25,000 jobs. As The New York Times reported at the time, “Amazon’s retreat was a blow to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio, damaging their effort to further diversify the city’s economy by making it an inviting location for the technology industry.”

Ocasio-Cortez, who like Mamdani built her career using social media, posted in response to Amazon pulling out, “today was the day a group of dedicated, everyday New Yorkers and their neighbors defeated Amazon’s corporate greed, its worker exploitation, and the power of the richest man in the world.”

Like Mamdani, Ocasio-Cortez did not care that Amazon’s decision would hurt the city. More important was scratching that far-left anti-wealth itch.

Just today AOC declared that Bezos, Musk, Zuckerberg, Gates, Ellison and all the other billionaires didn’t build that.

AOC has no room to talk, she hasn’t built a damned thing.

Mamdani looks at the Ken Griffins of the world and decides that he is ENTITLED to their money to fix other people’s shortcomings. Or in this instance, New York City’s debt. That’s taxation theft wrapped up in a very smarmy smile.

Mamdani’s anti-billionaire diatribe in front of Ken Griffin’s NYC residence wasn’t cute. It was creepy, weird, and dangerous.

Margaret Thatcher was direct all those years ago when talking about Socialists.

“The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”

Mamdani is doing his damndest to scarf up other people’s money in the interest of “fairness,” and have nothing to show for it at the end.

Another billionaire by the name of Steven Roth, who is the Chair of Vornado Realty Trust, laid it on the line and then some. He starts with “Tax the rich” is essentially a racist slur, and then he REALLY went to town.

I pay property taxes on $18.2 billion in assessed assets. $412 million a year. Say it again: four hundred and twelve million. I carry that number. It’s the first thing I think about when I see a protest sign. I think: I pay more in property tax than the entire annual budget of the city of Fort Lauderdale. I looked this up. Fort Lauderdale: $408 million. Steve Roth: $412 million. I am a small city. And the city doesn’t get screamed at.

My effective tax rate last year was 11.4 percent. I say this because I believe in transparency and because I’m not ashamed of it.

Read it ALL. Steven Roth is just one of the many billionaires that Mamdani is targeting. One who has worked his ass of for over 40 years to get where he is and pay a boatload of people to do a lot of things, gave $22 million to charity in a single year, and pays millions in property taxes.

But Mamdani looks at all that and says… GIMME

The thing is, Mamdani won’t have time to run out of other people’s money. They are leaving town before he can stick his grubby hands in their pockets.

What is left will be the small businesses. The dry cleaner, the bodega, landscaper, painter, restaurant, coffee shop, building security, and more. And soon, they’ll be gone as well.

Mamdani’s bash the billionaires plan is working. They are taking their money and their employees and leaving.

This Commie will ruin New York City. With Gov. Hochul’s help he could bring down the whole state.
