Andrew Cuomo Is No Longer Useful To Democrats

The bus ran straight over Governor Andrew Cuomo today, and the Democrats who protected him while Donald Trump was president are sitting up and cheering.

Oh, how the tides have turned. After months and months and MONTHS of the media offering themselves up as nothing more than slobbering lapdogs to Andrew Cuomo because he was SO HAWT and NOT ORANGE, the governor of New York has become politically useless.

Remember that Andrew Cuomo positioned himself as the ultimate authority in conquering the COVID pandemic – he wrote a book about it, gave multitudes of press conferences, and was awarded an Emmy.

Then the wheels came off the Cuomo train. The knowledge had been out there since MAY 2020 that those nursing home fatality numbers were wrong. Then the New York state attorney general, Letitia James, released her report and put a massive dent in the shiny hull of the Cuomo façade. Then the news broke that Cuomo aide Melissa DeRosa had admitted to state Democrats that the numbers were cooked in order to hide the actual numbers from the Department of Justice. And then the FBI and federal prosecutors announced that they were looking into the nursing home deaths. And to further prove what an arrogant, power-tripping bully Andrew Cuomo was, Democrat Assemblyman Ron Kim then told his story of being threatened over the phone by Cuomo.

With Democrats now backing off from Cuomo in large numbers (even AOC wants him investigated for nursing home deaths), the final wheel may have come off the train today. Lindsey Boylan, former staffer to Andrew Cuomo, had a story that she had only hinted at last December on Twitter.

Well, today Boylan posted her story on Medium, and Andrew Cuomo may have kissed his political future good-bye.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has created a culture within his administration where sexual harassment and bullying is so pervasive that it is not only condoned but expected. His inappropriate behavior toward women was an affirmation that he liked you, that you must be doing something right. He used intimidation to silence his critics. And if you dared to speak up, you would face consequences.”

While enjoying a weekend with my husband and six-year-old daughter, I spontaneously decided to share a small part of the truth I had hidden for so long in shame and never planned to disclose. The night before, a former Cuomo staffer confided to me that she, too, had been the subject of the Governor’s workplace harassment. Her story mirrored my own. Seeing his name floated as a potential candidate for U.S. Attorney General — the highest law enforcement official in the land — set me off.”

In a few tweets, I told the world what a few close friends, family members and my therapist had known for years: Andrew Cuomo abused his power as Governor to sexually harass me, just as he had done with so many other women.”

Not only does Boylan share her story, she brings the receipts with screenshots of emails and text messages in her Medium post that show the extent of the hostile work environment that was aided and abetted by other Cuomo staffers – many of them other women!

Boylan’s story is not going to go away, and she’s getting support from other New York Democrats.

But the arrogance of Andrew Cuomo can never be underestimated. His team put out a rebuttal statement against Boylan within hours – and it ends up confirming that the circumstances around her opening story in the post existed.

And given just how open and prevalent Andrew Cuomo has made his bullying of his staff, and even his supposed allies, can we really believe that the current Cuomo staff isn’t just covering their own asses when they make these kind of statements?

I would really like to believe that Andrew Cuomo would resign in disgrace, or be charged with obstruction of justice and be forcibly removed from office. I don’t think that will happen. He has made enough Democrats angry to no longer have a political future in New York state, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t hang on with his fingernails to every last shred of pomp and power that he can. The days of glowing press are over; at best, he will get a media cold shoulder as they strenously ignore his sins in order to not make comment on their own. Not even Fredo will be allowed to help save him. That fourth term that he was aiming for in 2022? He will get primaried, good and hard, and it will be vicious. Andrew Cuomo’s political career may finally be coming to an end, but it won’t be soon enough.
