Climate alarmists are clutching pearls over the “heat dome” that is blanketing Europe right now. It’s gotten so bad that the headquarters of the European Union had to shut off the air-conditioning.
Multiple news articles have been breathlessly informing the world that this heat wave is unprecedented in scope.
Much of western Europe baked under a “heat dome” Wednesday as temperatures soared toward 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) in places, and weather agencies warned that the extreme conditions could endanger lives across countries, many of which have limited air conditioning.
France recorded its hottest-ever day for the second day running. The Meteo France weather agency said the country’s national thermal indicator — an average of temperatures measured at 30 weather stations — hit a new record of 30 C (86 F), the latest in a series of never-before-registered highs. The mercury surpassed 40 C (104 F) in some locations, including in Paris.
The French weather agency put three-quarters of the country under a red alert for extreme heat starting at midday Thursday until the same time Friday. The warning encompassed tens of millions of people. In the usually temperate Brittany region of northwest France, a heat-related equipment failure knocked out power to tens of thousands of households that had to endure without electric fans.
CNN threw this little gem into the middle of their report.
Heat waves worldwide are becoming more harsh and frequent because of human-caused warming from fossil fuel pollution. The record-shattering heat waves in Europe this past week and in the western US in March are two recent examples.
It’s all the humans fault! How dare we populate the earth??!! Drought, that the Western U.S. has been dealing with since last year, is …cyclical! Heat waves tend to happen … IN THE SUMMER.
Holy color saturation Batman.

Someone take the red and pink crayons away. https://t.co/ST1S1AKgl3
But all the climate alarmists want to blame humans while peddling more solar and more wind power. If solar and wind is so sustainable, how come France’s power grid wasn’t able to stay up and running?

As many of us who live in reality are aware, air-conditioning isn’t a thing for many of the older commercial and residential buildings across Europe. Thus, in the summer, when the temps climb (as they usually do), people struggle. Yet it isn’t emissions that are the cause of this. It is the actual weather patterns as Chris Martz explains below.
Well, it has to do with the “omega block” in the jet stream. Omega blocks get their name because they resemble the Greek uppercase letter omega, Ω.
You can see that in the synoptic setup. The map below on the left shows the 500 mb geopotential height anomaly at 18z. The contour lines resemble the Ω shape due to an enormous high-pressure ridge in the mid-troposphere that is sandwiched between two low-pressure systems to its east and west.
Hot Saharan air has been advected—that is, horizontally transported—northward into western Europe due to anticyclonic (clockwise) airflow, and as that air mass moves north, it is compressed adiabatically beneath the ridge where air is sinking.
Climate alarmists don’t want pesky facts like that. They want to blame this heat wave on humans, oil, gas, emissions, cow farts, and more.
Which led to this absolutely elitist boneheaded move at the EU Commission headquarters.
The European Commission’s headquarters was forced to shut down its air-conditioning system on Friday due to the heat wave.
Staff working at the Berlaymont building received a text at midday, reading: “BERL — URGENT — Due to extreme weather conditions, forced shut down of air cooling system from floor 1 to 7 for the rest of the day.”The 13-story building is home to Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, her 26 commissioners and about 3,000 staff. Von der Leyen works on the 13th floor, and most of her commissioners’ offices are housed on floors eight or above.
Read that again. The lowly staff peons on the first through seventh floors in the building were told to swelter in place while Ursula and her merry band of elitist commissioners were kept comfortably cool.

Exactly.
Furthermore, while they are trying to blame the excessive heat, did no one stop to think that the HVAC system itself is the problem? Never mind. It’s much easier to blame climate change and humans. How very elitist of them.
The drive to net zero and idiotic climate alarmism has also led to this.
Homeowners are being forced to tear out air conditioning from their private properties under climate laws, despite rising temperatures.
Council planning officers ordered residents to remove air-con units over fears they produce too much carbon dioxide, stating they should only be used as a “last resort”.
The net zero clampdown is part of building regulations that state “active cooling” should only ever be allowed when all other means of “passive cooling”, such as opening windows or using fans, have been exhausted.
Evidently one has to provide justification as to why air-conditioning is necessary. Next thing you know, they’ll be yanking out heaters and wood stoves while informing the peons to just add more blankets for warmth.
I’ll leave you with this.
This is nuts. Operating rooms should never exceed 68 F (20 C) and 60% humidity. There's no way they can keep the OR the proper temp while the rest of the hospital is 100 F.

Ursala and the rest of her EU commissioners enjoying air-conditioning at full blast while their staff bakes in the heat is entirely on brand for the climate elitists.

Idiots..
One more example of why we fought a revolution.
“Heat waves worldwide are becoming more harsh and frequent because of human-caused warming from fossil fuel pollution.”
In midsummer 1963 when I was a young lad I was swimming at a beach in southern Australia with the temperature 113F [45C] in the shade. It was a hot summer’s day in Australia. Our main concern was a large bushfire to our north, not the heat. Being hot was part of life and few people back then had air conditioners in Australia. Heatwaves were expected in summer.
