Last week, Brett Kavanaugh gave an impassioned and forceful defense of his honor in response to the accusations and allegations from Christine Blasey Ford that showed up out of the blue barely a week prior to that. Today he penned an op-ed in the WSJ outlining WHY he reacted as he did last week. 

I saw a good man pushed so hard that he’d finally had enough and like all the Western Men I grew with,  he Stood Tall and defended himself and those he loves with every ounce of his being.

I would’ve been very concerned about Brett Kavanaugh’s character and integrity if he HADN’T forcefully defended himself then and in the op-ed published this morning.

As I explained that night, a good judge must be an umpire—a neutral and impartial arbiter who favors no political party, litigant or policy. As Justice Kennedy has stated, judges do not make decisions to reach a preferred result. Judges make decisions because the law and the Constitution compel the result.

After all those meetings and after my initial hearing concluded, I was subjected to wrongful and sometimes vicious allegations. My time in high school and college, more than 30 years ago, has been ridiculously distorted. My wife and daughters have faced vile and violent threats.

Against that backdrop, I testified before the Judiciary Committee last Thursday to defend my family, my good name and my lifetime of public service. My hearing testimony was forceful and passionate. That is because I forcefully and passionately denied the allegation against me. At times, my testimony—both in my opening statement and in response to questions—reflected my overwhelming frustration at being wrongly accused, without corroboration, of horrible conduct completely contrary to my record and character. My statement and answers also reflected my deep distress at the unfairness of how this allegation has been handled.

As VG Jennifer wrote yesterday, the 650+ attorneys who are against Kavanaugh’s nomination are operating off of anything BUT the Rule of Law and are showing a deep disdain for Due Process. Too many politicians (“Spartacus” Booker, Harris, Feinstein, Flake, etc) are putting partisanship politics above their duty to our Constitution.

But never you mind folks. Our betters are telling us he shouldn’t be confirmed because he lied about drinking games and fart jokes.

Yes, there’s that stupid talking point about temperament again. Hey Richie, you have lied for YEARS about your service or lack thereof in Vietnam. Don’t you dare lecture us about lying and temperament, Don’t. You. Dare.

Which, all those against Brett Kavanaugh now believe that this gives them leave to put lives in danger and disrupt businesses because politics and feelings.

Senator Orrin Hatch totally schooled protestors who dared accost him at an elevator. Senator Lindsey Graham has really found his spine, and more. However, that hasn’t deterred unhinged protestors from haranguing Senators Perdue and Paul at the airport. Evidently they didn’t read or don’t care about what Kelley Paul wrote just yesterday.

The Democrat Left is using a tactic that must be stopped in it’s tracks. 

The real goal is psychological terrorism—that is, engaging in a scorched-earth effort to destroy the target, and in so doing intimidating anyone willing to enter public service, or even just support a public figure that does not parrot the politically correct line.

As Simpson states, the real goal of these scurrilous attacks is to threaten us into silence.

What we saw last week, and what we see now is a man who is not willing to be threatened into silence.

We should want a man willing to defend himself against all odds, a man willing to defend his sacred Honor. A man such as that will be a guardian for this Republic. We need that now more than ever.
